I recently stopped by Video Game Heaven located on Battlefield Boulevard in the heart of Chesapeake to see if they had the new Nintendo Switch 2. First things first it was great. The amount of old and new games were perfectly balanced. The prices were amazing it made my haul amazing. I got a 24x46 Supernatural poster for 12 bucks. Also grabbed E.T. on the atari 2600 for 8 bucks (for the collection of course). Found Link's Crossbow Training for 7 dollars and that's better than any other price I've seen. Snagged two Wii games one was 3 dollars the other was 4 dollars. If you're a plush person there was a wall of plushes including Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Sonic, etc. If you look past all the anime dolls it will be an amazing experience. Also Gex. read more

Very clean place with a decent selection. Both people I talked with were very friendly. Games could have been a little better organized but they were displayed so everything was easy to look through. Highly recommend this place. Friendly people, reasonable prices, and games in good condition make it worth the trip. read more

It's high time I updated my review for this location as the original one is several years old now. Of the 3 VGH locations this one is my favorite. I find this location has the a great yet diverse collections of games and supported consoles, whether it's the current generation (PS4, XBox One) or the older platforms. One of the great things about this location is they really seem to push new stock into here all the time and that turned me into a regular customer. Whether I'm shopping for myself or a friend who's down in Charlotte, NC. I try to get in here every couple of weeks to see what's available. The staff here is super cool and always helpful and I can't stress enough how wide their variety is. Also they do much better on trade in's than the chain game stores. No matter what console you collect for you'll probably find something here. read more

I was only there less then an hour, and it was great. From the games to the prices, this place is amazing. I got a poster for twelve bucks and It's something that just screams "Put it on your wall!" Owning it feels so good, I'm proud just to have it on my wall. It's practically impossible to resist buying something. You can get an amazing haul from just one trip, if you have the money. It's impossible to say no. One of the best video game store experiences I've ever had. Better than "Games On A Shelf." It's perfect, if you just ignore the anime dolls in the corner. read more

Anyone born before 1992 grew up in a very special time period. It was a time when Nintendo, Sega, Sony etc all were being born and hitting puberty. Classic games like Pokemon, Harvest Moon 64, Metal Gear Solid, Sonic the Hedgehog all remind people of easier times. Now being an adult wanting to kill some time its these older games that do it. Simple, fun, addicitng gameplay. Unfortunately, Gamestop succumbed to profits and popularity rather than sticking to being a true gaming store. Giving you $5 for a game that just released and then selling it for $50. Luckily though, there is Video Game Heaven. A game store that stuck true to what gamers want and need. A place to go for new games, but they also carry the classics. I love this place and will definitely be returning for my future game purchases. read more

They have a HUGE selection of games, all reasonably priced. It's worth going in and looking around!! I went in with my old sapphire and ruby which have dead batteries. I was looking to get an emerald version, and showed off my little collection to find out that they offer a battery replacement service!!! I was so shocked! She did it for me in 5 minutes, and to get a new emerald and repair of my two games ended up costing 29.00! Definitely going to come back!! read more

Not bad, has lots of old school video games and has knowledgeable staff. Prices are a little high, but normal for retail. They could use an airing out too. It smells like my grandparents basement. Stores like this are hard to find these days, so glad I stopped by. They have all the latest games plus the stuff I'm interested in - retro. (And from a wide variety of systems too.) Prices on the vintage gear was good too. Bought a Colecovision console in good condition for $40 cheaper than I was quoted for one in worse condition in L.A. and their prices are at in the range of online prices. The bonus was I was able to see it, hold it, and knew it was in good condition (unlike some online purchases that turn out to be complete duds). If you're a retro gamer visiting from overseas or a local, make the effort and check out all the Video Game Heaven stores in the area. The hunt is half the fun, but after so many other disappointing or overpriced video games I've been to while visiting the US, it was nice to actually come across a store that had a variety of stock and was reasonably priced. Don't expect them to have everything. But if you're a gamer you should be able to find something interesting here. read more

Great place to to shop for retro games. Employees are courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. They'll even let you bring back your game and exchange it if you aren't happy with your purchase, whereas some other places will simply state "No refunds!". Highly recommended. read more

This is an amazing little gaming store hidden in a shopping center in Greenbrier across from the hospital. They have the games for and nearly any system you could imagine. A couple of Christmases ago I told my husband I wanted the old Atari 2600 system like I had when I was a kid. This is where he found it. My kids and I stop in here nearly every week to check out their games. Both of my kids now own Game Boy Colors purchased here and several old Pokemon games. They also have games for current consoles and controllers for everything. Their prices are great and the employees are friendly. They talk to my 10 year old son like he's an adult and he loves that. They will make suggestions on games based on what you tell them you own and like playing. They will also check other stores if you're looking for something specific that they don't have.
