Las Margaritas is basic Mexican. Yup, it's certainly not a fancy place and you're not coming here for the atmosphere. But the food is cheap, and they open quite early (6a), earlier than most anywhere else in the neighborhood and close. Great if you live in Mount Rainier, Brentwood or North Brentwood. The food is tasty and i've never been unhappy coming here. For $5-9 bucks you can't really beat it. I've been here in the morning, for lunch, and in the evening. I'm not sure when others have been here, but I've never been here with loud music. Sometimes there's a soccer game on the TV and people are watching from the bar. It's a small space so you can't really avoid it. Agree with Justin here that other people reviewing this need to take it for what it is. read more

Worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to on planet Earth! On every level imaginable it was terrible. Margarita was store bought mix with 2% tequila and delivered to me "on the rocks" as opposed to frozen like I asked, food took forever and I know for a fact it was microwaved with subpar ingredients to begin with. Service staff watched tv when not serving and tv volume was piped through restaurant speakers a ridiculously high volume! Our waitress was really really into her fingernails, she looked at them, bit them, and likely never washed them. She was friendly but not remotely enough to make up for this place. read more

Las Margaritas - El picado - Mexican Near Me - Brentwood, Maryland

This place is owned by the same woman who owns La Sirenita and La Fondita, both in Riverdale, Maryland. Like the other places, this place has its very own character. This place claims to be Tex-Mex. (I'm a Mexican who grew up in Texas; and I enjoy and know what authentic Mexican cuisine and Tex-Mex cuisine are like; they are similar but not the same.) I knew the owner of La Sirenita before coming to this place; and, just as my friend and I came in, I spotted her sitting in the back of the room. The place is nicer than La Sirenita and La Fondita. This place seems to cater to first and second generation Hispanics. Although, this place has a bar and I think they serve beer and margaritas. I browsed the menu; and it looked very familiar. Initially I thought that it may offer the same items as La Sirenita. I was wrong. We tried the chile relleno (yes, singular because the "order" only has one pepper); and, although it was good, it was topped with sautéed bell peppers--red and green. The "crunchy tacos" weren't crunchy; they were just the same taco you get at La Sirenita, minus the cilantro and onion; instead, you got iceberg lettuce, tomato, and some shredded cheddar cheese. The banana milk shake (licuado de plátano), despite the added vanilla ice cream, tasted like it was made with extra skim milk and extra green bananas. I saw some of the other people's food; and I was convinced that this place was neither Mexican nor Tex-Mex. People from Texas who have had Tex-Mex or "Mexican" food know what Texas enchiladas are like and what I saw there was just not it. I think these folks should stick to the food of Puebla or get some Texans to teach them what the food from Texas is like. My guess is that the standard stuff, like the typical Mexican taco (that here they call a "soft taco," which is a totally different thing than what Texans call a "soft taco") is probably as good as it is at La Sirenita; however, this place claims to be Tex-Mex and that's where it has failed. It's simply misleading. The location is better and perhaps it is in them to improve; for now, I'll have to pass. read more

So I decided to check this place out after moving back to the area. Didn't want to travel too far out to my go-to Mexican restaurant in Beltsville since I was on a time-limit, so I decided to walk in! Although, I must say, after reading the few and outdated reviews, I was iffy, but glad I went in anyways. The tacos de lengua were well served and you can't beat the price: $2.50/ea. Other places tend to charge $3.00+/taco. I also ordered the Sopa de Res ($9.95) which was very tasty! Now that fall is around the corner, I know where to find me a good soup. My mom ordered the Mole Poblano entree ($11.95) but it wasn't too satisfying; it seemed to lack chocolate and chili. We have Mexican friends who would bring authentic mole poblano so we obviously had something to compare it too. Will definitely come back for more tacos de lengua and soup down the line. read more

Holy cow this place is HORRIBLE. We were fine that it was a dive on the outside because we were told (apparently incorrectly) that it was worth it. Heck No! Four of us went there for dinner last night. It was SO BAD that we wanted to warn others ASAP. It started off badly and got worse. We walked in the front door to blaring music - as in, scream loudly to be heard. The (I guess) regulars were all staring at us from the bar. We screamed our orders to the waitress who looked like she was 12 yo. She came back to clarify part of the order. Then the cook came over to clarify the order. We were screaming back and forth - it was the only way to be heard over the music. (Note: eventually one of my friends asked for them to lower it a bit, which the waitress did... until a regular turned it back up again.) After a long wait, the margaritas came out. They weren't the way we ordered them. We sucked it up and drank them. We asked for our water which hadn't come yet. She brought them out in bright red glasses (i.e. you can't see what's inside). Took a sip of mine - it was vaguely sweet. My husband and friends tried it themselves - yup, it hadn't been cleaned from whatever sweet drink was in it before. Put that glass on another table and decided to bypass the water. Then the waitress brought some salsa for chips. However, she never brought the chips. So we had a bowl of salsa in front of us all dinner for no reason. We waited. And waited. And waited. (Reminder: the music was blaring so we could barely talk during all this.) EVENTUALLY our food came. However my husband's enchiladas were freezing. And the waitress apparently forgot that I get tortillas with my fajitas. The food was frankly nothing of interest whatsoever. We've had much better. Chicken was dry. Tacos were boring. Mole sauce was boring. Rice was hard and dry. And my veggie fajitas was mostly greens peppers and onions. Absolute waste. We had also ordered nachos for an appetizer. Yeah, those didn't come until after the entrees were done, and there were about 7 or 8 chips with a little dried cheese and beans on them. Horrible. At one point in the night, one of the cooks left and came back an hour later with a grocery bag of cheese and lettuce heads from Giant. Seriously? We could not WAIT to leave. We're entirely too nice and should have expressed our complaints, but frankly, would anything have changed? No. So we're warning you the potential consumer. This place is a HUGE waste of time and money. There are many other places we could have gone to instead of this and had a good meal for the money we paid. p.s. My husband wanted to make sure that I noted that our waitress was on maybe her fourth tequila shot by the end of our dinner. So... that just sums up the evening... read more

I like Las Margaritas! They're quick with getting the food out, the atmosphere inside is comforting and simple enough, and the food tastes great. My favorite is the New York Steak Burrito, it's filled with more meat than lettuce and such, and it's a good size for your money. As for the other reviewers, maybe they just need to find their niche or try it again. read more

This place is near my office and the lunch is pretty good. It's nothing fancy, but it's a good, low price meal. My coworker and I split the chicken and steak fajitas ($12) and we both left very full. The chips and salsa that they brought before the meal seemed very authentic. The salsa was a little on the spicy side, but all the veggies tasted fresh. The music was a little bit too loud when we came in, not overwhelming, but too much for daytime. We asked the waitress if she could turn it down and she did. Everyone was very nice. New to the neighborhood, I decided to start trying out the restaurants in the area. Friends and I went to Las Margaritas in hopes of having a great Mexican watering hole around the corner...not so much. The server seemed surprised that we had walked in and wanted food. Asking her what we should try, deer in the headlights. We ordered a mix of food, all of which was flavorless; I could do better at home. Except for the guy seated at the bar, we we're the only ones in the place and the food came out at a random times. It seemed that the chef was making each plate individually. i love las margaritas. the staff and service is friendly and warm, and the food is plentiful and delicious (if not a wee bit salty, but i quibble), and service is fast. everything is reasonably priced, to boot. las margaritas also has a decent selection of tequilas, perfect for sipping while you wait for your meal. at this point, they know me and what i want to order, which is pleasant. often, they will slip an extra enchilada into my order, and on several occasions when i have ordered extra rice and beans, they haven't charged me! they are also very flexible when it comes to asking for substitutions and specific meal orders. i'm a vegetarian, and there is much i can eat at las margaritas. they have a decent sized vegetarian section on their menu, which always makes me feel good, as it suggests that the folks working there actually know what a vegetarian is, and are catering to our needs. i have eaten there plenty of times with folks who eat meat, and their comments--in between stuffing their mouths--are always positive. las margaritas makes excellent soft tacos, and their enchiladas are sublime. they make a veggie enchilada, as well as a plain cheese one, that would do my gramma (a ninety year-old dynamo and excellent mexican cook from texas) proud. dishes use black beans, indicating the salvadorean bent to their mexican food. and let me take a moment to wax about las margaritas' fantastic mexican rice. light, fluffy, with the perfect amount of tomato, it truly is the best rice i have had in this area. their rice is the perfect compliment to las margaritas' many tasty dishes. read more

It was the worst food me & my husband have ever had. The steak was more like bacon than steak, it was so thin & crunchy. The food had no taste & the staff was rude & didn't care that we stated the food wasn't good. I even spoke to the manager & had such horrible customer service. I told him the milk they gave me was bad when I put in my coffee & he just snatched it up & took it away. I will never step back in that place & would suggest to go else where. read more

You can't beat the two taco special for $4.99. Great homemade chips and salsa. Just tried their breakfast for the first time and it was really good as well! Friendly owner/staff and quick service. My kind of place. I come in about once a week or so. read more
