Tostones
Kelly Y.

Walked in here as I've heard good things about this place and had a good experience for the most part! Waddling in at almost 40 weeks preggo, we were seated pretty much immediately around noon on a Saturday. Our server came around to take our drinks order while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. We scouted the menu to see if it was to our liking and they offered a variety of Colombian, Mexican, and some American dishes so we decided to stay. Ordered a Colombian coffee, Shrimp salad, tostones con guacamole, pargo frito, calamari, bandeja típica. Everything came out decently quick! Pargo Frito was omggg.. so crispy yet not oily and same with calamari. I didn't get heartburn like I usually do with oily foods so I took it as a really good sign. Toastones pairs so so well with the guac... salivating just thinking about that again. You also can't go wrong with the Bandeja Típica. Classic Colombian dish with a mix of steak, chicharrón, arepita, guac, chorizo, served with rice. Los todos fue muyyyy chimba. My only complaint is when I got up to look for the bathroom, I literally stood in front of two waitress and was totally ignored while they took their sweet time chatting to each other about whatever... which is fine like I don't care but it'd be nice if they acknowledged a first time patron needed help to find the bathroom. This is not reflective of our actual server - she was amazing and so attentive and constantly came to clear our tables (maybe a teeny bit rushed as we were still eating and the restaurant wasn't super full but nbd). Would add this restaurant on my list of contenders next time I'm in the area. The bar area looked like it would be a great time and overall great vibes!

Pasta linguine with shrimp

I do love this place for the nostalgia however the food differs from time to time if it's packed you might get all your food at once with no in-between but if your early you get your food on time .The restaurant is always decorated so beautifully but the music can be a bit much (in the night) however the portions are very big but the price for one entree can go for 23$

Guacamole and a "margarita"

Las margaritas has got to get a new name, because if you can't even make an item mediocre that you've named yourself after, you're not worth staying in business. Never in my life have I had a margarita that was clear. I'm surprised the staff isn't embarrassed to work there.... Most staff members were speaking Spanish, yet were somehow ok serving such a margarita, guacamole that likely came from Costco and offering Tabasco when you ask for hot sauce..... For all the food variety in Jackson heights, there is no need to stop into las margaritas. You won't get a good drink, you won't get edible food, and staff unfortunately doesn't care.

Food was delicious, with great flavors. Drinks were strong and tasty. I ordered a mango margarita on the rocks then ended up switching to a frozen passion fruit margarita (my friend had that and it tasted better). The service was lacking, it wasn't overly busy for a Wednesday night, and we were never brought water to the table and it took a while before the waitress even came to take our orders or ask how everything was.

Fat from the birria tacos
Alaya W.

As a flight attendant we don't always have a lot of time to explore the cities we're in so we order food. I ordered the birria tacos and I was disappointed to say the least. The tacos were mostly fat, so of course there wasn't much to eat at that point. What I could eat honestly lacked flavor. Pretty disappointing to spend money to not be able to eat. I'm giving two stars because the presentation and packaging were great.

Lipstick stain on my white wine

On happy hour, I ordered a glass of pinto Grigio and some rice and garlic shrimp. The garlic shrimp tastes great but the rice was too hard as a rock. The most disappointing part was the glass of pinto Grigio, they forgot to wash it because it left a lipstick stain on. I told the waiter to change it to a cleaner glass and he did. The ambient of the restaurant was good for a happy hour and for sporting events along with some salsa and reggaetón music! But I'm not coming to this place to watch the upcoming World Cup because the food was not that great except for the garlic shrimp and they gave me a dirty glass of white wine! Ooops! I almost forgot, they gave me an unopened ketchup bottle for my fries (the fries were ok), they supposed to open it before serving to the customers!

the place is clean and big. the food is good. however it used to be better when we got the food it was cold especially the rice, the portions are also smaller now. We have came to this restaurant a good amt of times now. the chicharron didnt taste good either.

This place has become a good low key hang out spot for my family and I. Food is usually good for a bar/restaurant kind of place. Drinks are amazing. Let me tell you, i love frozen margaritas, this has become my number 2 spot. Music is always a vibe- a good ole salsa, vallenato, some bad bunny here and there but when RBD played there one time, i was sold. Convenience I was at home! Rating this place a 5 because of my previous experiences. But coming here for mother's day was tortured.. table were on top of tables.. it was busy alright. I come from the hospitality industry myself and I first hand understand holidays are not the best times to go to a restaurant. You get served Mediocre food and mediocre service. Just to say I had a drink spilled on me, the service was not good. Felt the server was to present almost undesirable to enjoy the vibe. i will say the host on mother's day was very nice... again i should know better... cant say i wont be coming back because I am but hopefully they can take my review with positive intent. They have a good thing going

Service was great, the salad was delicious and the ambiance was great. The chicken was grilled to perfection and HUGE portion. Definitely will come back. Great for large groups. This place will be around forever hopefully.

Latino Bites is a small, no-frills Colombian eatery that's got a straight-forward menu, good service and AMAZING food. I've only had Colombian food a few times and I was happy to try something new - the menu has photos and descriptions for all different options. My friend'a husband is Colombian so she was very familiar with the menu. The Colombian burgers looked out of this world - also they are huge. BOMBASTIC I would say. But we both went with an Arepa each - I had the Chicken Arepa and my friend had the Chorizo Arepa. So so so good!! When the arepa first comes out, it looks small but once you start eating it, you realize the amount of chicken and the sauces on the arepa makes it very substantial and filling. Served with a little bit of salsa and a little lettuce on the side, it was very satisfying. They also have some juices, sodas, and other food options like tacos, pizza and of course, as mentioned, the burgers! Since I tried to "be good," it will have to possibly be a next-time treat! 9/10 spot; so good that they even have a good truck across the street.

Why 4 stars? Because these arepas were different, but enjoyable…read more --- --- --- To-date, I apparently have only had Venezuelan arepas and wasn't aware of how different Colombian arepas were. Colombian arepas (or at least the ones here) come with a sweet, corn tortilla and are more open faced: to be eaten with a fork. In the past, I've had flour tortillas that are designed more like a taco and eaten as a handheld. So despite the differences, I (and my friends) enjoyed our meal. Let the official record state, I ordered the arepas con queso with chorizo. We had plans to eat our way through Jackson Heights, but because a couple of the places we planned to visit were closed, we actually just mostly hung out here and enjoyed our arepas of the sweet and open-faced variety. It was a good afternoon.

Before this, if someone mentioned arepas, I probably would have confused them with pupusas, which I'd only seen at street fairs and thought of as more of a sweet item. I had no idea they came in savory versions too. I went with the carne asada arepa, and the beef was fresh, juicy, and cooked just right. It's so common for places to overcook little chunks of beef, but here it was perfect. Each arepa is big enough to split between two people, so the price feels very fair. The filling was generous, with beef packed inside and even overflowing out the sides. They also serve the arepas with a rack of five or six sauces to choose from. Some were spicy, and one had a sweet condensed milk flavor if you like a mix of sweet and savory. My go to ended up being this green mayonnaise sauce which I assumed was like some sort of a lime mayo, which added the perfect tartiness to the rich cheese filling.
