This despite an ongoing plumbing problem that has plagued the facility for the past several days. The room was nicely cleaned prior to move in, with a new refrigerator and microwave put into operation, and tested. The move itself went smoothly and the tv/wifi service seems to be working satisfactorily. Food quality and service is reported as adequate, but nothing more. Finding a reasonably priced retirement home isn't easy in 2025. As an example, Freedom Village requires a cash outlay of over one hundred thousand dollars and monthly fees exceeding three thousand dollars for a tiny studio apartment. Meridian requires no huge upfront cost. In the case of my friend's mother, an 850:square foot one bedroom apartment with a view is under $4500:per month. Transportation to nearby shops is available, a hair salon is on the premises, and exercise classes are available. So far, no complaints.

The young lady at the front desk is very welcoming. She gave me a very nice impromptu tour when I had to find my Mom a facility in one day's notice. She has continued to be very friendly throughout my Mom's stay. Compared to the other facility I looked at, Palm Terrace was quieter and had a much calmer vibe. They are limited to therapy in which insurance permits, but if the patient can walk, they can have someone walk with them at various times. My Mom had clean bedding and was changed regularly. My Mom is very particular and only liked the PT named Michael. She said he was hands down the best. Now, if it weren't for Jasmin, I would have been much more overwhelmed in handling the arrangements for my Mom's care. Jasmin was an excellent communicator and advocate from Day 1 until the end. She set my expectations by educating me on what insurance will typically do, and what we will try to do, and always tried to prepare me for the next steps. She let me know when my Mom had a CT appointment, arranged a very reasonably priced private transport, got my Mom a boot, ordered her a wheelchair and walker, and even helped me get Doctor's signatures on legal documents so that I can facilitate the next steps in my Mom's care. She would respond to texts after hours, although I would never expect her to. In addition, I requested a noon discharge time and she accommodated that. She also requested Michael, my Mom's favorite PT, for her last day. Moral of the story is you only get so much with Medicare, so I would recommend Palm Terrance because they did what they could do to accommodate us and the facility was clean and non chaotic.

I complained to everyone daily about this. Nothing changed. I timed their response when called. That day was 2.5 hours. Over medicated. I pointed this out immediately that one medication's dosage was doubled then the normal dosage. Our regular outside physician whom I called to make sure that this was corrected called this to their attention as well yet they still continued to over prescribe. There is no excuse for a facility that charges $650 per day to leave those in need demoralized and vulnerable. Shameful. Call your local ombudsman if you need help.

Our mother was so fortunate to spend over a year living at Cornerstone. When she moved into their home on Saddlehorn she was 105 and recovering from surgery after a broken hip. We did not think she would recover. She started on Saddleback Hospice (they were also wonderful) and did very well. The staff at Cornerstone coordinated care well with the hospice team. When we entered the home, we always felt welcomed, safe and as if we were part of a wonderful family. Mom celebrated her 106th birthday with a drive-by party (due to COVID) and a celebration in the Gazebo in their lovely back yard. She was kept very comfortable in all ways. They provided holiday celebrations, support, stimulating music, family meals, private rooms with doors to the outside and attention to her personal-care needs. She was very happy living there and we were happy too. In her final days they could not have been more helpful and supportive. My sisters and I are extremely thankful to Cornerstone for the care she received.

My mother recently passed at the age of 99 years; her last few years were at the Lotus facility in Mission Viejo. She entered their care at the height of COVID. They kept her safe, drove and waited in the long line to get her vaccinated when it became available, and were vigilant throughout that period. From her first day when she was very resistant to the idea of moving in to her last days in hospice care, Rita and the caregivers showered my mother with love, attention, companionship, and gentleness, even when she wasn't her best self. As she became frail mentally and physically, they continued to provide her with wonderful care. Rita kept me apprised of the changes in my mother's abilities and offered advice and wisdom on how to navigate the process. From the monthly photo newsletters to written communication to outdoor time to arranging for haircuts, manicures, exercise, and crafts - I was confident that my mother was getting the best care possible.
