I was in great need of a hamburger, after days of burritos, tortillas etc. So, I stopped by sat down & ordered a Texas burger. It was a moist & tasty lamb beef burger the taste was different but nice. The waiter I had is a diligent worker with many tables, but he need to work on checking in on his customers if they need anything else. A couple of times he walked right next to my table, and didn't ask are you ok do you need anything else. Of course, I had food in my mouth & couldn't speak by the time I clear my food he was gone again. I was parched because of severe dry air in Mexico, but had to get up to ask cashier if I could get some water bc of a nose bleed. She didn't inform him but I flagged him after a few more minutes. Lack of communication here. Waiters don't roam their eyes to check on customers. So, it's hard to throw your hand up if no one is checking on you. Complete Tunnel vision. The waiter was a nice guy, but I told him his tip would've more if he had checked in me. Although, of my experience, I do recommend this restaurant. The food is tasty enough, and other customers seem to enjoy their meal as well. Friendly staff. Oh, don't sit near window or opening because beggars do approach you often while you're eating. Don't get me wrong, I do give as I walk around but management should pull down the drapes so customers can eat in peace. I do feel sad for the beggars who send their children to beg.

Good service, friendly, good food and drinks. They have fans on for when it's hot and serve bottled water.

Catedral de Guadalajara - Cathedral in Guadalajara, Mexico

Let me start by saying the food in Guadalajara, Jalisco never disappoints me. My second home and Daddy's hometown is nearby so these delicious meals are my fav. The service at Sombrillas is very quick. We went twice during our stay and both times our waiter was very friendly. This delicious eatery is right in front of the Cathedral so the ambiance is pretty mellow around dinner time. I ordered the tortada ahogada de cárnitas (smothered carnitas sandwich) con taco dorado (with a deep fried taco). Let me just add that the salsa isn't spicy at all on a heat scale I give it a 2 out of 10 being spicy. The flavor is there. To drink I ordered una Rusia which basically is mineral water with squirt something refreshing on a hot evening. Price wise very affordable and very fresh. Very clean establishment and a cool spot to enjoy a meal while hearing the Cathedral bells. Breakfast items only served at breakfast though. I'll be back for another torta. Muchas gracias muchachos

Presentación : 9/10 Quality : 5/10 Taste : 3/10 Portion : 8/10 Price :5/10 Total score : 30/50 I ordered the chicken enchiladas The presentation of the food was good, service was very friendly and nice they were there to help. The chicken was dry, the red sauce didn't have flavor , beans tasted decent.

The place is is wall to wall tables and they were all filled when I went. They have table clothes (not fancy, but nice) and fried torillas (like chips, except full rounds) on the table with three kinds of salsa. The service was good and the food came out lightening fast. I am a vegan and I went because Yelp says that it is vegan friendly.... which is hard to find in Guadalajara. I only saw one vegan option, which were potato enchiladas. They were good, but they did not blow me away.

We had cafe de olla and some dishes that made for an amazing brunch. We ordered a plate of Arrachera with tortillas and Bistec Encebollado (steak with onions) with beans. On the same plate we had chicharrones en salsa, a breakfast staple in this city. To balance the heavier dishes we had a Jugo Verde drink made from fresh pineapple and parsley. The staff were so friendly, we felt at home with the kind approach and nice ambiance. The decor is traditional and tasteful, we had such a fun experience. We dream of this breakfast and want to return with our sons soon. Try some amazing food here next time you're in Guadalajara, Jalisico Mexico!

A Stage Set for Fire and Flavor…read more La Casa de los Platos, a massive restaurant set along a boulevard of equally grand dining halls in Guadalajara's upscale district, thrives on spectacle. Its open-air courtyard, framed by stone and saturated with color, hums with loud music and theatrical flair. The guacamole, made by hand at the table, embodies that performance. Avocados are crushed in a stone molcajete, and the spread arrives bright and tangy. Yet, it's complicated by unnecessary additions--cheese chunks and chicharrón--that crowd out the fruit's natural elegance. A mere five totopos felt stingy, though a sack of piping hot corn tortillas--generous, soft, and fragrant--rescued the moment. At a requested "level 3 of 10," the spice soared higher than expected, a jolt that overwhelmed rather than accented. The rib eye tacos with shrimp and bone marrow extended the show, grilled before us over roaring flames. They were hearty, flavorful, and undeniably filling, but also excessively oily. The flavors--shrimp's brine, marrow's depth, beef's richness--blurred into a dish trying to impress on too many fronts. It was delicious, yes, but a reminder that tacos often shine brightest in their simplicity. Later, a live mariachi band replaced the nightclub thrum, a refreshing turn toward tradition and warmth. Service was fine but forgettable, efficient enough without leaving an impression. In the end, La Casa de los Platos is a spectacle tailored for a high-heeled crowd seeking grandeur. The flavors are bold, the showmanship bigger still--but subtlety rarely takes the stage. #GuadalajaraEats #FoodCritique #LaCasaDeLosPlatos
