Although very busy, we were seated quickly and given chips and salsa to munch on while we examined their huge menu! Lots of good items from individual selections to entire meals. Standard Mexican restaurant. Service is usually fast, but if you want to change your order slightly it's really hit or miss. My wife always orders chicken instead of beef and so far the success rate of actually getting what she ordered is about 50% I would still recommend them to anyone that wants a quick and tasty lunch. read more

I went to Las Trancas last night for dinner. We wanted something quick, casual, and cheap. It was fairly busy but we got seated right away. I got a chicken burrito and a beef taco. The food is pretty standard mexican restaurant fare. I really like the chicken, but the beef is a little bland. My boyfriend loves the cheese enchiladas and ordered those. This place is located in a strip mall, which, in my experience, isn't always the greatest. Yes, I know, you can't judge a book by it's cover and sometimes there is a gem in the midst of the strip malls, but this restaurant was no diamond. We get there and wait outside on one of the few benches they have to wait for a table. The benches are old and warped and I felt like my family was going to fall through the wooden slats. They called us up and we get to our table, and my kids are growing fussier by the minute. The restaurant is small and my 14 month old was placed in a high chair in a high traffic area, which seemed like a bad idea to me. The waitstaff was constantly having to wait for one another to get around his high chair and the HOT HOT plates of sizzling fajitas ran directly over his head made me cringe in fear. Our waiter got our drink order and brought them out very slowly, My husband noticed his glass was dirty and there were 'ashes from cigarettes' floating in his glass, as if that was the glass the staff was using to 'ash' their cigarettes in to and they tried to run it through the dishwasher. He asked them to bring him a new one. Which they did without a problem. Then we ordered our food, I asked what type of cheese they use on the tacos and the server did NOT know. Are you serious?? You work in a Mexican restaurant!! 95% of the things on the menu have cheese in them and you don't know what type of cheese it is? Strike #2. So I ask, rather hint, that maybe it's mozzarella, and he nods in agreement...still not sure what happened. So I order, my husband orders and orders for the kids as well. Our food took a normal amount of time to get to our table, about 20 minutes. When our food did arrive, my order was completely messed up. He gave me the wrong meat, wrong sides, everything was messed up. I told him and he looked at me like he didn't really understand me. He took it back and when it come back, and it was still wrong. I ate it anyways, because at this point my husband was almost done and my kids were done. The cheese did not taste like mozzarella. Then the check came, and it was completely wrong. I don't know how one establishment can get so many things wrong in one visit, but it happened here folks. The server fixed the error, but to me, 3 strikes and you're out. I got the Carne Asada which was delicious. My husband got the Deliciosa which was tasty - especially the chorizo. Kids got bean & cheese burritos, but the queso was a bit spicy from bits of green chiles. Chips were crispy and salsa was mild to medium spiciness. Service was great, and we had a comfortable table for 6. Prices were very good for the amount and quality of the food. read more

Their food is very consistent and well prepared. In my opinion, the best Mexican food in the valley.

I have eaten there several times and really enjoy their food. I have never had a bad meal. The restaurant is always lively and full of people. The waiters are mostly quick to get what you need. The kitchen gets your food out very fast. Overall, it is a great place to eat and you won't leave hungry. I have two complaints about this place though: one being the hostesses and the other, the restaurant's take out option. There is one hostess in particular that really gives the place a bad rap. She is not polite to the customers, she will ignore them while she does other things, talks to the guys working, and is generally not very inviting to the customers. Last night when I went in to pick up my order, she ran past me in the doorway and didn't even bother to say excuse me or even acknowledge that she almost ran into me. That pretty much sums up her whole attitude. Now for the takeout. Like I said before, their food is very delicious! I can't stress that enough. But every single time I have ordered takeout, my order gets screwed up. I really love their "huevos con chorizo". I order it every time. It comes with 3 tortilla shells, rice and refried beans. Love it! Every time I order it inside, I get what comes with it. But when I order it as takeout they always forget to include the tortillas. ALWAYS! I have to remind them to include them. The bag is so packed full that I can't check the order there so I do it when I get home and low and behold, NO TORTILLAS! We have had other orders that were wrong as well when we order out too. I will continue to eat there and recommend them; just not so much for takeout. read more

I stop in Marietta all the time for food before or after driving through the wasteland of WV. The options on the exit are all fast food, so I'm glad we finally gave this place a try (after Arbys and Pizza Hut for 5 years in a row), we now stop here every time we pass through. Traveling for the holidays we found this local favorite. My teenage son and I stopped for lunch and enjoyed a quick, fresh and hot Mexican meal. He had grilled chicken tacos and queso dip which were both delicious. I had some terrific guacamole and azteca soup. Good food - good service! read more

I have ordered take-out from this restaurant before. At first, it was great. The last few times, it has been mediocre. Today, I was trying to decide if I should go ahead and go to Tampico, or to give Las Trancas another chance. I honestly wished I had gone to Tampico. Let's start with my order, which I thought was a fairy simple. I ordered two entrees (Enchildas La Paz and the Grilled Trio with the side of beans replaced with rice), plus a large order of chips and salsa. I was ordering for myself and my mother, who has a medical condition in her mouth that renders her very susceptible to any kind of spicy food. I specifically asked the person taking my order if the Enchiladas La Paz were spicy at all. She said they were not. Spoiler warning: They were. Also, when eating her meal, my mother found 2 pieces of plastic in her food. I'm still trying to figure out if they charged me for that. For my Grilled Trio, the shrimp that are supposed to be in the entree were substituted with chorizo, which I did not ask for. the chips and salsa themselves totaled $8.00 (5.50 for the chips and 2.50 for the salsa. At Tampico, the same size chips and salsa costs $6, and is better quality overall.). When I went in to get the order, I didn't have to wait terribly long to get the order, as the restaurant wasn't terribly busy at the time. That's where the good things I can say about this interaction end. When I was presented with half of my order, whoever had brought it out had literally put the containers on their side, causing a good portion of the juice and grease to empty into the bag. The cashier did not even check the order, as I found when I went to my vehicle and realized half my order was missing. I brought the other half back in to make sure I had gotten the right order. The other half was sitting on the counter, and was also turned on it's side when it was handed to me. I pointed this out to the man handing it to me, who mumbled a half-hearted apology along with several claims of he "just can't understand the cooks". I don't know how being able to understand the cook staff translates to not understanding which way to hand someone the food, but that sounds like something that needs to be brought up with management. At this point, I just wanted to get home and eat, and did not want to wait another 20 minutes for the food to be remade, so I brought it home. After toweling both the containers off, we dug in, which is when I discovered in addition to everything else, they had not substituted rice for my beans. The food was mediocre again, at best. In short, they messed the order up severely and gave extremely sloppy service. I do not think we will be returning to this establishment any time soon. I very much recommend anyone wanting good Mexican food to try Tampico or Gran Ranchero, the latter of which is opening soon. read more

We are an early dinner here. I had the Polo Yucateca and my husband had the Quesadilla Delux. The Chips were warm, fresh and crispy. The salsa was just spicy enough and very tasty. The service was quick and polite with frequent and timely refills. The food was delicious and served so quickly they must have known what we wanted! My Polo Yucateca should have been called Polo Yummyteca! We will definitely be back! read more

I always prefer Tampico over Las Trancas but this place is still good to eat. The salsa was so good, their salsa is always fantastic. I ordered a chicken burrito with cheese sauce and it was delicious. The chicken and cheese tastes to good together. The cheese sauce they have there is mouth watering. The wai kmter was nice but he took a little while with getting our bill to our table but it wasn't bad. If you want some good Mexican food then visit Las Trancas. read more

The food was obviously prepared in advance and just heated up. Things tasted the same on my Combination Plate, bland and mushy because they seemed to be reheated in a microwave. Beans, rice and corn chips probably came out of cans and bags. The food was brought out so quickly it had to be prepared well in advance and sitting in a warming tray and/or microwaved. My suggestion would be to go to Taco Bell, if you want a Margarita buy some Marg mix and carry out some Taco Bell. It is actually a bit better. read more

I haven't been here since my last review 3 years ago. The atmosphere was busy just like it was last time I was here. The waiter was a little a bit better than last time, he actually smiled and was friendly. That was all the positives with this trip. We ordered our food, granted we were a party of 7, it took quite awhile for our food to come out. We saw 3 other tables who sat after us get there food before we did. Maybe I maybe critical about time because I was use to Tampico's having our food out to us 5 to 10 mins after taking our order even with a large party of 6 to 10 people. Once we got our food there was a bit of confusion with the wait staff that brought out our food. The first waiter who brought out the side plates; beans, rice, pico, etc... started laying plates on the table and not explaining which side plate is for whom. So everyone in my party was confused whose side dish is whose. Next when our main waiter came out with our main food he didn't bring out our steamed tortillas and said that they ran out and are making a new batch. So after 5 mins or so they brought them out. Everthing after that was ok with the service. One thing that bothered me a bit is seeing so many staff members, it didn't look like they were helping each other much. They were running back and forth to the kitchen minding there own business. With that many servers you would think the food would come out of the kitchen faster. One last note, comparing the taste from both trips, the food still had no taste to it other than the salsa. By far Tampico's have a better flavor profile than las trancas. I have went to las trancas for years. But tonight was my last visit. I got a pitcher of margaritas. Everything was fine until we got near the bottom. We ended up with metal pieces in our mouth. Not knowing what it was, we asked the waiter and he said oh sorry that's from when they clean the bar at night. It must've gotten into the ice. So the manager came to the table and told us that they would dump the ice. We had 1/4 of our pitcher left and the waiter brought us out 2 medium margaritas to make up for what was left in the pitcher. We get the bill, and they charged us for the whole pitcher! We complained and then they took .58 cents off! And said it was 10%. If it were my business, I would not have charged for the pitcher. After complaining again, they charged us for half the pitcher. We didn't have any fight left so we said okay, paid and left. It ruined our night and needless to say we won't be back. The management has absolutely no idea how to run a business! read more
