Well worth the stop! Highly recommend the full fish with garlic sauce. Cold beers, great company. Unusual starter of ceviche, super hot green salsa and tostada chips but we rolled with it. Menu isn't English friendly and suggest either doing research beforehand, ask waitstaff or bring someone who can translate... we ordered a few item that were translateable or had photos. The food was excellent. A Mexican seafood place, a rarity which I have not seen around here before. The interior was nicer than some of the pictures I had seen online. We were the only gringos in the place, which I expected. It is very authentic and local. I had to try the Piña Azteca, it's a half roasted pineapple! Filled with steak, shrimp, cut up pineapple and topped with cheese. The rice was buttery and tasty. Very hot and fresh. The only downside, we went for lunch and it took over an hour to eat. The place was not even half full, there was only one waitress and two cooks. It took roughly 20+ mins just for the guacamole. It was all very fresh and good, but don't go if you have no patience and are starving. It was unfortunately a big turn off for me. If you are a foodie and not in a rush. The shrimp for the shrimp cóctel has been in soaking water so long that it's falling apart. I ordered a shrimp with octopus cóctel an it came with no octopus so I called to take this back and all I got 6-7 pieces of octopus in the parking lot no apologies no anything here's your octopus. My husband and I have been coming to this place for a while now. The Langostinos are to die for! Some of the best in Chicago and Suburbs by far! Micheladas are awesome too! The oysters are always fresh as well. I usually get the fried Mojarra fish and it's always very delicious. They have other non-seafood items on the menu but if you decide to check this place out you must try one of the many seafood dishes (Langostinos, Mojarra, Red Snapper, Ceviche, Mussels, Oysters)...just to name a few. From the ceviche when you first sit down to the band playing this was all around a great meal. If it was not for the other yelp review we probably would have never stopped in. However we are so glad we did. All the seafood was excellent!!! Shrimp cocktail was perfect!! My husband ordered the half pineapple with steak and shrimp and my 7 year old tried it and said he was ordering it next time. I ordered steak fajitas because I am not as adventurous and those were just as delicious. I think my favorite part of dinner was watching to see what everyone else ordered in the restaurant as it came out of the kitchen. So many things looks amazing!! First time at this location, I eat sea food fairly often and sea food around here is very limited. Parking lot is small. The food is good and service was ok. My only issue were the food portions which were small. If you eat sea food you know its not a cheap meal but for the price I expected a reasonable amount of food at that. My boyfriend and I went here this afternoon with my 80-year old parents after helping them move into temporary housing nearby. The food was good and the portions were large but the music was so loud we could barely hear each other by the end of our meal. The reason for my one star review is their scam of adding what I believe is a 12% tip for tables of four adults or more. I noticed this on the cover of the menu when we ordered but had forgotten when my father received the check. I should have taken the itemized check and reviewed it but it had been a long day, we were all tired and we just wanted to leave due to the loud music. Thinking about it as my boyfriend and I drove home, I remembered the note on the front of the menu, did the math and and realized our waitress received a tip well over 30%. Yes, it is noted on the menu cover but this is not the norm at 99.9% of restaurants (typically do this for larger parties - 8 or more) and I feel like this should have been mentioned when dropping off the check - especially when handing it to an elderly person. While we likely would have gone back, as my parents enjoyed the food and will be staying nearby, based on this we will never eat here again. There are many other restaurants in the area with great food that don't try to trick their customers. We will spend our money at those places in the future. Buyer beware at this restaurant. We had a great meal there last night. The Paella was very tasty and fresh. The place is a little sparse as far as the decorating but we went there for the food, not the decor. Our waitress was very accommodating and patient with helping us navigating the menu, we love Mexican but we're not very familiar with the seafood. I wanted an iced tea to drink to find out they don't have any- I am not a big soda drinker.We started with the Mexican style shrimp cocktail- which I had such a craving for, and it was extremely watery, almost soup like, that really bummed me out. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. It specializes in seafood, and let me tell you, it is done right! This was our 1st time here but it won't be our last. The ceviche appetizer was plentiful and fresh. It is served with large round flat crisp tortilla discs, crackers, and fresh lime. We ordered a large, and it was enough for 4-6 people. For dinner I had a piping hot cauldron of various seafood in a delicious red broth. The fish that came in my cauldron were crab legs and claws, langoustines, shrimp, pieces of white fish and a few other types of seafood. It was a very substantial portion, enough to share. It was very good. My husband had char-grilled shrimp with rice and he really enjoyed that. Our waitress was very nice and also helpful because most of the menu is not in English so she had to explain some of the items for us. OK...read the reviews and went to find out what it was all about as a change of pace. FOOD: Mexican seafood as promised based on the regional cuisine of the Islas Marias (100 km off the Pacific Mexican Coast on a line between Puerto Vallarta and the tip of the Baja Peninsula.) They have a few more routine Mexican dishes on the menu...Enchiladas, Chicken Fajitas (My daughter had them and liked them) and some Carne in you want ordinary. We tried the appetizer Fresh Mussels (Very nice and fresh) and the Shrimp Pasties...which came with a dipping sauce and were filling and fine if not incredibly remarkable. We both chose the Langostinos for our main dish. I used to eat Langostinos in my youth...we used to call them poor man's lobster. The Langostinos at the Tres Islas Marias are served with some salad bits and rice which is a great choice since it absorbs the run off from the Langostino's spices which makes a spicy counterpoint to the sweet lobster consistency meat of the Langostinos which are served cut in half. An honest portion and a filling meal...especially with appetizers. My wife had leftovers which she took home for a subsequent meal. Also had Margaritas with the meal. They were excellent examples of their type. ATMOSPHERE: If you want fancy dress, go elsewhere. Relaxed decor and dress. Atmospherically the place is very modest with simple place settings, institutional padded metal chairs, brightly colored table clothes and multiple hot sauces on each table. The place/dining area itself is essentially a large house converted to a business with some window seats looking out on the main road. WAIT AND SERVICE: On a Sunday between 5 and 7 there was a plethora of wait staff on hand, no line and our wait person a charming young lady named Anna who was very helpful in bringing us up to speed on the Spanish/English menu and orienting us to dishes when the menu fell short. She immediately brought some Ceviche with chips, crackers and fairly potent green salsa as a Starter. COST: Cost is reasonable. Appetizers 6-10 dollars. Drinks between 5-8 dollars. Main Dishes: 10-15 dollars. A full meal and drinks for three was less than $100. OVERALL: Delicious. Got what we went for which was great seafood with a different flair. Met that standard with flying colors. If seafood isn't your objective in a Mexican restaurant you have a dozen other choices in a few mile radius...but I am a Yankee who grew up on seafood in the heartland of American Seafood (New England) and can honestly say this was probably the best Mexican Variant Seafood have ever eaten and I easily recommend it to those who want a Non-New England twist for a change. read more

I had the langostinos and it was tasty but overcooked, the rice was truly the best part, nice & spicy. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas and they were awful. The chicken was literally like leather, like they scraped up the leftover scraps and rolled them up in tortillas and threw some sour cream over them. He was very disappointed.
