OK food was kind of bla. Tacos not the best. The good thing was the service was good and the price was good.

Tried Los Comales for Taco Tuesday. Tacos are $2 on Tuesdays. I ordered four steak tacos--average in size for street tacos but generously loaded. The corn tortillas were a bit greasy, which I wasn't a fan of, but the tacos were still flavorful. I did come across a few fatty pieces, but not many. Love their marinated chicken tacos but they are very small, more of a street taco. Also had the steak tacos, with a side of beans/rice and those were great as well. We go there at least once a week and are trying different items so I'll update my review when we do. Hope this helps. read more

COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED!!! My original bill which is on the right came out to $32, when I went up there to pay we gave our server a $15 tip, they were great the best part! But the lady charging us rang up the food to $34 I didn't pay much since u thought ok maybe up charge since I'm using my card it's whatever. But when she scanned my card it went up to $37? Huh. How could it was gone up by $5? I thought she included the tip since she asked us if we wanted to add a tip, I said no since we already gave them a tip. I went to ask her why it went up $5 she said for the upcharge of using a card. What place goes up 5 goddamn dollars for using a credit card?!? THIS IS A SCAMM. There are so many Mexican Restaurants to choose from in the area. Most close around 9pm and this one appeared to be open, many cars parked 30 mins prior to close so we thought lets give them a try. Glad we did! Many standard options but what I appreciated about this place is that they were to cater to my wife who is a vegetarian. They made sure to ask the correct questions and make her enchilada dinner to her liking (A+). I had the chicken burrito dinner. I finished mine as it was made perfectly. I also tried a bit from my wife's plate. Come on, is there not a husband who does not want some of their wife's food!!! Prices are very reasonable, food is tasty and service is good to make you want to return. Monday and Wednesday $6 for Margarita and $5 for Michelada. Thinking about going here again on these days to try their drinks. read more

Ordered here a few time and it was decent but got progressively worse. Last time I ordered (taco meal) could not even finish due to very poor quality. Been here several times but never got a chance to make a review. I definitely recommend their tacos. Why have Taco Bell right next door when you can have the legit kind? Service is okay, a bit slow and can get pricey but it's good tacos. I don't recommend their rice as it's very salty. Ordered a side of avocado after seeing the pics on yelp posted and I got like very small amount so not worth getting it in my opinion. The Horchata I got tasted watered down even with little ice on it. I get it why many have negative reviews and prefer the Waukegan location. Special instructions were placed but, guess what, were not followed, shocker. When dinner arrived, packaging was very poor. The most interesting events started happening when I opened taco dinner...and oh boy, what a surprise, it wasn't steak taco dinner it was FAT taco dinner. Los Comales catered a corporate event we attended on Saturday, August 3. The 3 guys , Eddy, Oscar and Diego did a great job making the tacos (beef, chicken and pork). There are many taquerias in the area, and this is by far my favorite. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I usually visit for lunch and get the taco dinner. So many great things to say about this place but I'll give you a few must highlights: 1. Salsa - clearly in house made and packs a perfect flavor and heat 2. Tried this place roughly six months ago, food was good. Went a month or so after that, food was so so. Went tonight for a third and final time, hoping it would be like our first experience and wow was it BAD! We sat ourselves and got served some over fried chips and watery salsa. After being walked by multiple times we finally had our order taken. My fiancé got the steak taco dinner and I got the marinated chicken burrito dinner. His was barely edible and mine was slightly better... if that! The steak was dry, fatty, and he said the meat had a burnt flavor. My burrito had hard chunks of avocado in it and some random dark burnt thing... we both love hot sauces, too bad neither of them were edible... just a gross smoky burnt flavor. Rice was over cooked and beans also seemed burnt. My fiancé didn't even finish his food and I picked through my burrito. At one point I contemplated getting a take out box because I felt bad for my fiancé and just wanted to get out of there without offending anyone... but was never checked on or asked how our food was after being served. We paid our bill without a tip and got out of dodge. We will stick with our usual Mexican spot and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone! The old location was way better, but I get it things change. Seems we're not the only ones that feel this way about this place! There's no doubt that the food is the tastiest and most authentic around town but the downside is anytime we order take out, 8 out of 10 times something is missing. Whether is toppings on tacos, a complete order of rice, beans, a missing taco, no salsa, cebollitas, its ALWAYS something missing... Terrible. TERRIBLE! The owner, some nasty old lady, wanted to charge extra for my beans and rice to be on the side, which is fine!... but they didn't even give me beans or rice!! Plus that woman was rude as hell.... How do you make such a big deal about me wanting things on the side but then not give me what I asked for?? I'm not one to leave bad reviews because of mistakes... but based on this lady's attitude, she probably knew. What a shame to such a nice place with wonderful workers (BESIDES HER). Before the Pandemic and shelter in place orders.... This was one of my favorite Taqueria's in the area, hands down! So it pains me to give this review of their performance the last three visits, the latest being last night. I get my usual three steak Tacos. Steak is always hot, full of flavor, some slight crust on the outer edges from the grill and seemingly homemade Tortilla's? I have no idea what's happening lately, taste like they changed the meat, doesn't even taste like real meat anymore very dry and chewey and the Tortilla's are definatley not the same. This is my favorite of all the locations. Rice is tasty and the right texture, beans are good with a little smokiness. Asada and lengua are seasoned well, and the barbacoa is amazing. You can even get the barbacoa in flauta form, which my husband loves. It's awesome in a burrito too. Horchata is good, doesn't taste like it came from a mix. The only area of improvement is that when I ask for ingredients to be omitted when we call for pick up (I'm not a fan of hot soggy lettuce in my burrito) they usually forget and keep it in. A little odd to order cheese and sour cream as sides, also everything but meat is served separate fron the tacos, but it worked well as the cold ingredients were still cold and the hot was still hot. This restaurant recently moved to a new location just down the street. I decided to check out the new location and see if one of my favorite taco places was still just as good as always. I was very surprised to see that they have a drive-thru at the new location. The service was very quick utilizing the drive-thru. My order was ready very quickly after I placed the order at the drive thru. I am pleased to say that the food was still just as good as it was at the old location. Everything was fresh, delicious and the portions are still very generous. I can't wait to dine inside the new building with friends and family. And I definitely will be continuing to use the drive-thru for takeout orders as it was very convenient and fast. read more

I am a huge fan of Mexican food and this local place had the most authentic food I've had in a while. The place is exactly as you'd expect a smaller Mexican restaurant to be: Good customer service, clean, smells great, and incredible food. We only had a short time to eat but tried one of each of the tacos. We probably waited 2 minutes before a beautiful platter of smaller tacos hit our table. We didn't even know where to start but the variety will suit everyone's taste buds! Our favorites included Pork with onions, Seasoned steak, Marinated chicken, Chorizo, and Al Pastor. They were perfect sized but packed full of flavor. I love a Mexican restaurant that serves chips and authentic salsa at each table as well as the pickled Jalapeno, carrots, and veggies.
