So I went here looking for a axolotl. I called over the phone one day and asked for it in the right pronunciation of the word. so I went there and asked for it. They took me to a tree or some type of bark. I was confused so the people who are selling it here are very confused because they don't know how to pronounce axolotl correctly. They keep pronouncing the English way like ax and I told them that's not how it's pronounced an try to be nice nice about it . But they copped a attitude saying that's how you say it which is incorrect so I am texting here, so maybe they can listen for once and correct themselves someone they're trying to sell something that comes from my culture. so the correct pronunciation is like this "ah-shó-lot" is the right pronunciation of axolotl. It is a Mexican indigenous word from the Nahuatl language. therefore, I never bought it from them. Never went to the store again do better. read more

I would rather shop at trop aquarium or blue reef aquatics then spend my money here. Went in yesterday to check out the store just to see a bunch of dead fish in the tanks. This place is no better then petco or petsmart and that's saying a lot especially about a store that specializes just in fish you'd think they'd take better care of the animals they have regardless if they are just there temporarily. They are losing money by not taking care of the fish they have seen a dead Arowana they had priced at 200$ and a bunch of dead African cichlids that looked like they were acclimating in a bag and clearly someone forgot about them. This store is a shame to the hobby please spend you're money elsewhere. read more

I spent alot of money here and pricing is inconsistent. Like the peacocks are 5 for $100 one day then 4 for $100 the next depending on the employees mood. I came in earlier and asked if I could get the usual 5 African cichlids for $100, and your employee with a mad look, told me it was 4 for $100. Then about 30 minutes later, I had my friend come in and ask the same exact question, and he was offered 5 for $100. So I was told one price, while someone else was given a better deal almost immediately after. That's obviously frustrating and inconsistent. If 5 for $100 was available, I should have been given the same price instead of being told otherwise. This was always my first stop for tropical fish and try to always pay cash as its preferred by your establishment, but seems like my business is not appreciated. Steve is the only reason we keep coming back here, as he has excellent customer service and keeps pricing consistent. read more

One of the employees wasn't able to answer my questions initially, but she took the initiative to ask others who knew, which I really appreciated. Another employee was very helpful and informative, answering all of our questions. We purchased two healthy fish and enjoyed seeing the exotic breeds that aren't available at other stores. Don't let the name fool you. This store is well stocked with tropical fish, too. For you saltwater enthusiasts, this place has inventory of saltwater fish as well. Customers, please take time to read this. I am not one to normally leave negative reviews as I understand how it portrays a business, but in this case I have to. Something to keep in mind before I start my story about my tank is that I do weekly 25-30% water changes, there are never any readings of ammonia or nitrite and only 5-10ppm of nitrate. The tank is fully planted and doing so well that I have a hard time controlling the plants. But onto my story: Recently I bought 6 rummy nose tetras from here through Steve to add to my 36 gallon tank that had 1 adult healthy blue discus and 3 healthy dwarf rainbow fish. Within 2 days, 3 of the tetras died and 2 days later both of the female rainbow fish were dead as well. The rainbow fish showed signs of ick that spread very quickly. So yesterday I went back to the store to let them know so we took a look at their tank with all of the tetras in it. Almost all of them had ick. The guy working there (not Steve, it was another guy) identified that immediately and said Steve never should have sold me these fish. He said to just come see him when I the fish in my tank are healthy again and he will hook me up with some fish. I started ick treatment as soon as I got home. Fast forward to today when I got home from work and my healthy discus is dead when she was alive this morning. Whether it was the ick or another disease these fish brought to my tank, it has slowly killed off my entire tank except for 3 of the rummy nose tetras I added last week and a single male dwarf rainbow fish. The sad part is the employee confirmed their fish were the cause of this. I don't expect any returns or free fish from this, I really just want people to know that I truly think the employees at this establishment don't care about what they are selling you regardless of the type of fish it is or how much it costs. The integrity just isn't there. Las Vegas Exotic Fish, please do better and customers please be warned. Thanks for reading this very long review. read more

Tetras came with Ich, duck weed purchased from there infested my tank with snails, guppies often not in best health. I originally bought some shrimp from this place in Amazon. I paid no attention to the name. When two were DOA, I realized the store was up the street from me in las vegas and called. I spoke to Steve, who replaced my entire order with a smile. Since then, he's become my fish guru. It's an unassuming store, but they have some really amazing species you won't find in chain stores. I came specifically to this store because of the great reviews. When I walked in I was blatantly ignored. There was a guy talking to a customer (a pretty lady). Not a hello or anything. The store is small. So not like I wasn't seen. I was looking into getting a fresh water setup. Obviously would be throwing down some cash. I walked around for about ten minutes. Still nothing. I came around the corner and there was another employee. He didn't say hello or offer me assistance. Finally I asked if I can have some help. He was decently friendly and spent a min or so with me. Then he told me if I had more questions to speak to the owner. Well the "owner" was clearly busy. Once the lady left, a guy came in who I would assume was his friend and or regular customer. So naturally he was too busy again to greet me and ask if I needed anything. It was awkward to say the least. On top of the horrible customer service, the place was hot, they were playing loud obnoxious music, it smelled, and I was not impressed with the layout. I left after about a half hour of being ignored. As soon as I got in my car I looked up another shop and when I arrived I was treated like a valued customer. I was greeted. We had conversation, and I ended up buying a whole setup there. Their place was spotless, didn't smell and the list goes on. Maybe my experience was a fluke... hence the two star review. They also have very good pricing I got so many plants for only $20!! Lastly the plant selection especially the floating plant is very nice I was extremely happy they had everything I was looking for. This shop is one of the best fish stores I've been to in Las Vegas. The price tags on all the fishes are the lowest I've seen. They have a huge selection of Neocaridina shrimps and all kinds of freshwater fishes. I purchased 15 healthy blue dream shrimps. I was surprised to find that I received one that was holding eggs :) The owner is very friendly and helpful. I'd leave 0 stars if I could. These fish are kept in horrible conditions. the bettas were kept in a back corner in jars, some of them were dead. The jars are full of green water. Every tank is dirty and has cracked tiles as the base of the tank. No substrate anywhere. A few fake plants and all the fish looked depressed and miserable (if they were even alive.) do not shop here, this place needs to be shut down. The entire shop is filthy on its own. read more
