I thought that was nice that we only had to pay a portion rather than the full amount. As soon as you walk in there was bunnies to the left absolutely the cutest bunnies!!! There was one called a lion head which was definitely my favorite. The to the right they had lambs, sheep, dairy cows, calves. There was a hen house and also a petting zoo. Within the fair as well. I absolutely love animals. I wish they could all be in their natural habitat rather than be put on a show for people. It's pretty sad. That's why I don't really go to the zoo anymore. They offer plenty of rides and games for kids and families to enjoy! They're all grouped together so you don't have to run all over the place to get on the next ride. That was over crowded. We didn't even attempt it. They have food places all over the place. The sweet corn was amazing! So were the BCR fries from the beach shack place. They were bacon ranch fries that were super flame!!!! I want them right now actually hhaha. Overall, it's a nice day out with the family and I would recommend it. It's a hike from the Chicago area, but getting out of the city and nearby suburbs is always nice.

Kiwana's brings a wooden keg of semi-locally made root-beer and the floats are oh so good. They also serve Dekalb Del Monte corn a few ways. There was a place, I think taco explosion, with deliciously seasoned steak tacos. Tinez tacos have really good chicken tacos but the steak needs either searing or seasoning. Thai Pavillion has really great noodles and fried rice. Salt Creek BBQ had awesome cooked forever ribs and the pulled pork was really good too. Free corn is served during the corn boil which is either Saturday or Sunday morning depending on the year. They serve something crazy like 30K ears and go until it runs out. A bad experience was a gyro from a place that had it simmering in a giant wok like pan with onions. It looked good but was inedible and thrown in the garbage. We got more tacos and quesadilla's from the taco explosion instead. Be ware - that place had other similar wok style meat plates too that we won't try. Funnel cakes everywhere and typical carnival fare. US adults go to eat and the kids ride at the carnival. It's a great time. All the local businesses have booths too.

The cows are my favorite! I wish I could give this place a 5 star but this last visit we lost 2 kids in our group because the hay stacks have two exits. I wish they could block one side off. Also, a SOBER, careful adult in our group almost got plowed in the head with one of those hammers from the strong man game while she was walking by a man doing it. They really should put a staff member there AND put a fence around it. Those adults having fun aren't looking around every time they swing... it's a recipe for disaster.
