The tutorial made you feel confident, and the safety measures made you feel secure. My fiancé and I went at 10:30, so it wasn't super packed. Yes you will need gloves (though they sell them there too) because you'll be holding on to the guide ropes across these rope bridges. The course seems safe the people are very intent on safety. You can't go anywhere without your harness being attached. It also means once you're in you're in. There's no really going back. Everyone is super cool and friendly. Only 4 stars because the zipline portion is actually kinda small. It's about 60-80 feet before your feet touch. It's the same shortish run for each one of the 1, 2, and 3 runs. There may be other longer runs but this is what we got for the 1 hour ticket My daughter loved it. She wants to go back. Me, I have a moderate fear of heights. More of a challenge than fun for me. The courses are well designed and, with the provided equipment, very safe to move through. At the beginning, staff members provided a thorough safety equipment orientation and then were present in the course areas if someone required any assistance. There are several courses from easy to difficult. All in all we had a great time.

Wow! This was quite the event. It was my first time and I most certainly had a blast. I will be…read moreattending these events every year from here on out. The most important thing about it is that it isn't a race but more of a spiritual journey (to me at least). I was able to tap into my inner being and push into the unknown. There were so many motivating people there especially the person who hypes you up before starting the run. The obstacles were amazing and definitely hard. The run itself was challenging but worth all the sweat I produced LOL. Parking was super easy and not congested (luckily). Finding the place was a bit confusing as the address provided takes you to the other side of the airport so you will want to make sure you check the signs and get there a bit earlier for your race (maybe get there an hour early to ensure no hiccups in finding the place. You will get very very dirty hence the name of the event. You will be challenged and pushed to the edge but it is worth it. The other mudders are there to help fallen folks and folks that require help getting over obstacles - I felt like there was a huge sense of community throughout the whole thing. All in all, I had an amazing time and the end of the race was the electric obstacle. I got shocked right in my butt and it took me down so be careful in making your decision LOL. The Wheaton Park District offers classes (before COVID, not sure about now), at this location and a long time ago I brought me kids here at night to learn about creatures of the night. There was a talk and a craft and we made snores around a campfire. It was a memorable and fun time. They also have a ropes challenge course here which is a great team bonding activity. This is closed right now, so when it's open check it out. We don't take enough time to stop and smell the roses or whatever flowers there are, so visit here for some downtime!

The Badass Dash 5K Obstacle Race is pretty new to the Chicago area. Last year was the first year…read moreand they held it in Rosemont. This year, they have two races. I completed the one at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates. They are doing another one in August in Rosemont again too. Usually, these types of races are held pretty far from the city in rural, farm areas. I couldn't picture what this would be like in the burbs, but they did a really good job. The obstacles were really unique -there was no mud, but plenty of water oriented ones! Most of it was done either in or around the Sears Center (running up and down the stadium stairs were killer!) However, I was really pleasantly surprised by how pretty the prairie path was around this area too. It was the perfect combination of urban and "farm like" environments. The obstacles were pretty cool and many were unique to this race. My favorite was the end -climbing up the rope ladder and then sliding down into a pool. I would do this again next year -it was really fun and challenging! My advice, though; do not buy the spectator VIP package. I did and it wasn't really worth the money -this part was a bit disorganized and my parents didn't get any more "VIP" of a view than anyone else. Have your spectators sneak around and get a great view from the Sears Center lot.

I'm more used to the farm field type runs and…read morefound it a little disappointing to be running back and forth and back and forth in a parking lot for much of the run. That being said, it was still a good time and the obstacles were fun. The finish line area in particular was very very unorganized. The spectators were not separated from the runners in any way and there were many instances where the spectators were in the path of the course. The timing of the race was also odd. We signed up for the 9am heat, and they released the 9am heat in small batches at a time in 5 minute intervals so we were at the starting line for about 30-40 minutes after 9am waiting for our turn to go. They should have had a 9am heat, a 9:05, a 9:10, and so on. Then when we finished we checked the time of day, but had to wait a good 45minutes or so to find out what our race time was. We didn't know what time we finally started the race, so we couldn't figure out how long it took us to run it until they posted the times. All in all it was a good time, but I'll probably choose a different race to run next time.

All inflatable items, some with foam, or water, some with climbing, all fun and hilarious. Even though there was a short lines to wait in before doing the obstacles, the running still remained challenging too. The course was all in the sun, with two water stations throughout. The DJ and staff did a great job keeping people entertained, and releasing them in waves to keep runners safe, and keeping wait times minimal. I know their website is designed to accomodate many cities, but there were a lot of unanswered questions- I didn't get why they put the packet pickup site so far away from the race site (pre-race), we had to bring a lot of cash to make sure we could pay for parking and day-of packet pickups, but alas, for Chicago it was all free. I was grateful for that, but was stressed out to make my fellow running group think we should bring extra cash. Either way, I'd definitely do it again next year. PS- this race is just for fun, it's not timed.
