Amazing art classes in particular Oil painting with Scott Nickerson, who is exceptionally talented and gifted. He is an inspiring teacher. I have been fortunate to be in several of Scott's classes. Classes are kept on the smaller side so you get personalized attention. Spots fill almost immediately when posted so don't delay act fast if you want to join in. You need to buy your own supplies which a list will be provided to you when you enroll. They also have a custom framing department that has provided to be useful after you complete your masterpiece. Classes are available for every level so don't be intimidated as everyone in my experience is so kind and supportive. Wear old clothes and let your artistic side come alive!

She lacks knowledge in most aspects of framing and doesn't seem to understand much of what she is looking at. In response to my questions I got a blank expressionless stare. I'm a professional artist preparing for another huge show and I was planning to purchase local and try this Asbury Park business. I had a budget of $6,000 for all the frames needed in this exhibit. After my initial meeting with her I needed a little more info about the dimensions of chosen frames. It took over two and a half weeks for her reply. In fact I thought that I was completely ignored. I decided to go to Ocean Park Gallery to find out if there was any progress. When I got there I found out that she only looked up one of the frames I was interested in. I asked her what other finishes the frames came in and her reply was that they were all the same. WHAT? I know Larson juhl manufactures about 20-30 different finishes so I asked if I could look at the catalog with her to see all the catalog options. Then she snapped and went nuts!! Her reply and I kid you not - "I spent a lot of time looking up frames for you already and I won't spend anymore time doing that so you'll HAVE to choose what I have here, I'm not doing any special orders!" i asked her what the problem was and she went berserk and started shouting things I don't need to repeat here. I told her that if she was going to be unreasonable and be unwilling to work with me I would have to look elsewhere. She said fine, go elsewhere, I don't need your money.....and I added as I was walking out the door I don't need this grief. .......WOW! Good news is: I found out about another frame shop nearby, Tumblety Howell Gallery and framers in Ocean Grove. They had no problem giving me all the info I needed. I got some great service and prices. Everything was special ordered. And the paintings looked great!!. Bottom line: Keep away from the frustrated bitter old woman at Ocean park Gallery! Since that time I heard from neighboring stores that she doesn't get along with others and is a difficult religious fanatic.

Very disappointing experience. My daughter and her friend started hand-painted ceramic projects…read morehere in September while both were dealing with school and work schedules. They returned in October, November, and December as their schedules allowed to continue working on the projects. During those visits, they explained multiple times that there may be gaps before they could finish and pick up the pieces. They were under the impression this was understood and that holding the items would not be an issue. Now that their schedules finally allowed them to go back, I drove my daughter over to pick up the pieces, only for her to be told they no longer had them and that they had been thrown out. She was then told they only hold items for 40 days. That was not clearly communicated to her, especially considering they had specifically discussed their school and work schedule situation during prior visits. What made it worse was the response. When my daughter asked why no one called before throwing away paid customer projects, she was told they "do not call you guys." When she said she had spent a lot of money, the employee responded that it was "$40" in a dismissive way, as if that amount did not matter. To my daughter, that money mattered. More importantly, the project mattered. These were hand-painted ceramic pieces made by two friends during a busy and important time in their lives. You cannot recreate that exact item or that exact memory. It was not just pottery -- it was something personal. My daughter left very upset and almost in tears. I understand businesses need policies, but a strict 40-day hold policy should be made very clear, especially when customers explain ahead of time that school and work may delay pickup. A simple phone call, text, or email before discarding paid projects would have avoided this entire situation. I also do not understand how a studio that serves students and families can expect someone attending any type of school, including college away from home, to always be able to return within 40 days. If that is the policy, it needs to be clearly stated upfront and repeated before items are discarded. Very disappointed in how this was handled.

A cozy little bookshop right on Cookman! I've stopped in here before when in town and love browsing…read morethe $2 used book section. They didn't have the specific book I was looking for on my last visit but I still left with a mystery "Blind Date with a Book" book! Wrapped up and only giving me a tease of what it's about and only $5. Very excited to add this to my book-loving mom's gifts this year. The store has a variety of books, some new and some classics. I also love checking out their book club section on the far right wall for some recs for future reading. The team that was working that day let me know that almost everyone you see in store is a volunteer & that they host lots of events over the course of the year.
