Due to the pandemic not improving we decided to cancel the trip as we were travelling outside of the country with children and someone with pre existing health concerns (We planned last year and thought things would be better now). Once cancelled I did not hear from our travel agent Linda for days to know if the trip was successfully cancelled or when we should expect a refund etc. I had to reach out to her and once we finally spoke she told me that the trip was cancelled and we would not receive our deposits. How unethical and unprofessional to not make a client aware of this before cancelling. My family and I loss over $1300 in deposits. Not to mention there was NO written verbiage in our contract or emails that stated deposits will be forfeited due to cancellation. Which I mentioned to Linda. We also had insurance by the way. I also asked why was I not informed that there would be a loss prior to cancelling the trip. All I received was an apology of miscommunication. There can be no miscommunication if there is NO communication!! I feel this was very low level service for someone who claims to have been in the business for over 20 years. I feel there is a bit of shady business here and I recommend you look elsewhere.

Our first experience, she sent us to Cancun for a bachelor party. It was the best time I have had in my life because of how well she put together our package. Our flights had no long layovers. We went direct from DTW to CAN. Also, how we were taken care of at our hotel is out of a storybook. They brought us amazing cocktails and apps to enjoy while checking in it was like we were in a lounge enjoying a good time and it's all because of the special touches of our travel agent. It's amazing how we were upgraded to suites because of Shevone and her relationship with the hotel. (She has A big client base and earns pull with big hotels to send her clients to) All in all I couldn't be more pleased with the way were treated and that was most important. So for VIP treatment I recommend this agency.

This year they have helped us find the perfect all inclusive resort in Punta Cana, took care of all of the details for a Nile River Cruise, arranged for us to surprise friends on their 25th wedding anniversary cruise on Cunard from Venice to Rome and planned our extended stay after a conference in Valparaiso Chile. In 2011, we had booked a private house in Manzanillo, Mexico. Hurricane Jova, a category 3 hurricane took out the airports in Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta. We called A1 and they told us to enjoy the rest of our vacation while they worked out an alternative - they found us a flight home from Guadalajara in the midst of that cities hosting of the Pan Am games. We spoke over the phone and gave specific directions on where we would like to stay and what types of hotels. The trip included stops in Santorini and Istanbul. In both places the hotel arrangements were not what we had asked for and were not near where we wanted to be. The quality was below hostels I had been to before. I then had to handle my own accommodations in foreign countries wasting valuable time and expensive cell phone minutes with very little help from A-One. They also used Booking.com with rates that were non-refundable. It was up to me to negotiate with the hotel operator in Santorini and Istanbul. The locations in both cities were not where we were supposed to be. To upgrade cost us huge money in Santorini as we were already there and they knew we needed a place. A-One claimed the type of place I stayed at was not in my budget, yet we made upgrades to other parts of the trip later on. A-One assumed no responsibility in the matter and did not compensate us for lost time and the upgrade I had to make. I have never been to either of these cities so I relied on experienced travel agents to get what I wanted. That didn't happen. Instead they did not want to listen to a an unhappy customer that thought they may take initiative 2 months after the honeymoon to compensate for the terrible experience I had. They made no contact with me after the trip and then hung up on me because I was a mad customer. What is the point of going with a travel agent if they are not going to back their work and will blame you, the customer? More so, why is a travel agent using booking.com. I can do that. The tour they set up for us in Istanbul also was 2 hours late picking us up and we missed parts of it. A-One blamed the agent they booked through for this mishap and claimed no responsibility. In the end I had to pay for multiple nights in Santorini for a hotel we did not use, then had to find my own accommodations in town, not 25 mins away from the city I told them I wanted to be in. I also lost hours on a honeymoon that was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime. I was told by A-One after that 4 and 5 star ratings are different by country, and that it was my responsibility to know what I was booking. What's the point of a travel agent then???

On each occasion, she provided not only the basics of bookings but additional insights on the cities to be visited and suggested tours to be taken. For example, on the Alaska cruise, she made an excellent suggestion that we get a cabin on the shore side from Whittier to Vancouver, which allowed us to enjoy most of the great scenery right from our veranda. For the Northern Europe cruise, she spent about an hour on the phone with my wife and I suggesting certain tours and to avoid others. With this level of service, we will certainly go back to Joyce whenever we are ready for an overseas trip or cruise.
