I scheduled the appointment for a Sunday prior to my trip to Europe so they would look nice. The owner texted me stating they do not do this Groupon service on Sundays but only Mondays and Fridays. I work in EMS and cannot request those days off. She offered me $15 toward another service (services run $100 and up) when I paid $55 for the Groupon. She did not try to accommodate me and the Groupon is not refundable. I was wanting to continue to get lash fills here biweekly. My first appointment was in April for a short square acrylic French tip set. The nails came out beautiful, and while I felt the $85 charge for a soak-off and new set was higher than many other salons in Jacksonville, I was happy with the final result. I returned in mid-May for a fill-in, which cost $60. Again, I thought the price was steep for a fill, but the work was done well enough that I decided to come back. Unfortunately, my experience on June 4 was unacceptable from both a service and customer service standpoint. I came in for another fill and specifically requested that my nails remain the same length and shape. I have consistently worn square nails during my visits to this salon. The nail technician working on me began filing away a significant amount of the acrylic despite my request to keep the length. I also noticed that she only applied acrylic to the grown-out area rather than rebalancing the entire nail, leaving my nails feeling extremely thin and vulnerable to breaking. As she continued shaping them, I noticed my square nails were being filed into a coffin shape. I politely asked if the sides could be straightened because they looked too curved. Since there was a language barrier, another employee came over to assist. Instead of addressing my concern, I was told that the shape had changed because the technician was "following the shape of my natural nails" and that hitting or banging my hands could change the shape. As someone who has been getting acrylic nails for over 15 years, I know the difference between normal wear and a nail being reshaped during a fill. The explanation made no sense and felt dismissive. When I reiterated that I wanted square nails, the same shape I originally came in with, I was told that if I wanted square nails, I should get a completely new set. I found this confusing because I wasn't asking for a different shape; I was asking for the same shape I have had during every visit. When I questioned this, the employee and the technician laughed. Whether that was their intention or not, it came across as incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. There was nothing funny about the situation from my perspective and I felt my concerns were being dismissed rather than addressed. The employee then stated that I was clearly unhappy and suggested stopping the service altogether. At that point, I agreed, got up and left. I spent my time coming to the appointment, sitting through the service and trying to communicate my concerns, only to leave without a resolution and in a worse mood than when I arrived. What makes this even more frustrating is the inconsistency in pricing. My previous fill was $60, but this visit I was quoted $55. There seems to be little transparency regarding pricing from one appointment to the next. To be fair, management did reach out to me after the incident, apologized for my experience and offered me 20% off a future service with one of their more experienced technicians. I appreciate the gesture and the fact that they took the time to contact me. However, the issue was never just about the nails themselves, it was about how my concerns were handled in the moment. After feeling dismissed, argued with and laughed at, I simply do not feel comfortable returning. It's disappointing because my first two visits were positive and that's the only reason I came back. Unfortunately, this experience overshadowed those previous visits. Professionalism and customer service matter just as much as the quality of the work and in this case, both fell short.
