It's the day before Christmas and I'm watching a skinny guy try to smash a 12-patty, 12-cheese monster burger that Lashings owner Ilker Boga has put together as a man vs food challenge. Later on Ilker brings out one of those hoverboard things and spins around the store on it. Why can't all food be this fun? There are 22 burgers on the menu, including one called The Herbert. I can barely count to 22. You know what's important in a good burger? Balance. You can have all kinds of crazy stuff and one giant patty and whatever, but for mine everything needs to be in proportion and work together, and the cunningly named Single Decker did just that - juicy thin patty, cheese, pickles, mustard, sauce and bun that all meld into a hand grenade of deliciousness. Just pull the pin and throw it at your face. Can't wait to try more. Full disclosure: a colleague bought this burger for me. Oh, and the results of the man vs food challenge? Talk about a huge variety of fabulous burgers! It's not often a burger joint will have such a wide selection of burgers other than beef. There usually one or two chicken options, and one or two vegetarian options, but this place had so much to choose from, I couldn't decide and had to ask the friendly owners which they recommended. How could I go past a burger that specifically listed pickles as one of the ingredients. PICKLES!! The Herbert was incredibly, and luckily I went the healthy option of wholemeal bread! (Make that a diet coke, I'm watching my weight) Haven't you heard? It makes all the difference. The chips were addictive; damn that chicken salt. Add to it the amazing dip options and I was shoveling those in my mouth non-stop. There was pickle mayo, guys...PICKLE mayo! Burgers, boygers, & meat! This one of a kind burger joint has earned its place amongst the carnivores. A clean store for eating in, welcoming staff, and reasonably priced meals. Does it get better? It does! There is even a hand washing station available for guests. I am a fan of any restaurant that promotes good hygiene. Perhaps its a warning sign stating "you may get messy eating our burgers" or its just simply there to make our lives a bit cleaner. Either way, I am a fan and used the sink to wash up before and after my meal. I ordered the Moroccan Chicken burger and at first I was a little hesitant but was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't too spicy and the pineapple, rocket and sauces were just perfect proportion though you will need a few extra napkins. Since Lashings is a counter order and delivered kind of joint I was pleased when our server asked us if we would like any sauces when he dropped off our burgers. Of course I wanted TOMATO SAUCE....ketchup and the BF wanted a spicy mayo chipotle. Adding to the 4 star validation, it was only $1.50 for 2 sauces and these were puny sizes either. It really gets me when a restaurant charges 2$ a sauce for so much you will never use or $0.60 per sauce and you end up spending over $2-$3 to get enough to enjoy your meal. Ok.. let me start by stating this place knows burgers and they know burgers well. I decided to try the burger named after the restaurant itself the "Lashings" burger. For me this was a bit scary I'm not going to lie. It came with all the traditional Aussie Burger fixings and a few extras.. it had a huge mound of Turkey bacon.. beef patty.. tasty cheese.. egg.. pineapple.. lettus.. tomato and of course beetroot. For me there was way to much going on to be able to appreciate all the elements. I did ask for the egg to be cooked well done (mainly because this was my first burger with an egg) but after I started to bite into it I was starting to think how much of a difference would have been if the yolk was runny? The pineapple however did stand out nicely with the mix of the bbq sauce they used. The place is your typical fast food joint when it comes to decore. It's very welcoming and bright which is pleasing to the eye. The place isn't massive but could easy host a group of friends who just walked in from the beach. I like the fact they had a hand washing station.. this is because they as owners know some of their burgers can get messy... I had to use it after mine :) I also love how the sauces they serve is all made in house. That makes them unique and well love by regulars. I got the standard LASHINGS Beef Burger. It was pretty good. The price is acceptable ($10.90), analogous to GBK in the UK and Fuddruckers in the US. The staff were pretty nice. The restaurant features a sink next to the counter for you to wash your hands. It's a nifty feature. There is somewhat of a wait for the burger to be prepared. So, this place is more of a sit-down restaurant than a fastfood one, in case people were wondering. I waited about 5-10 min for my burger, which is fairly normal for these types of places. read more

Beef is their specialty so if you like beef - get a beef burger! You won't be disappointed!! There is a Sextuple Lashings Burger! I've seen it with my own eyes! That thing was mammoth!! I have to admit the burger i tried here was Moroccan it was nice to try an unusual/gourmet burger for once rather than ur typical beef or chicken burger. The burger was actually delicious and the portion is massive, if you were to eat here you would become a supersized in weight.. If you go here i recommend you buy one burger and share with someone. The price is $10 for a burger (without any sides or a drink). Compared to their competitors i think they are too pricey for a burger joint. they should shrink the burger size and include a drink and fries or some sort of side with it. Lashing is one of my favorite burger joints in Sydney. I think what makes it really great is the warm damper roll. When we tried their burgers, the rolls were nice and soft and the burger was full of flavour! We had the Roma burger, which is a chicken burger with mayo, rocket, swiss cheese, avocado and semi-dried tomatoes. We got chilli with it and highly recommend it! The other burger was a lamb burger which was just as amazing. Their sides were pretty good too. We tried their chips and wedges and the dipping sauces are amazing!!! There is a pickled mayo sauce which I highly recommend to everyone. It's taste like the sauce used on a Big Mac. We call it the Big Mac sauce. What I like about this place is that the burgers are full of flavours and there are so many options to choose from. There's even a sextuple lashings burger if you are super hungry; from memory I believe there are SIX beef patties in the burger along with generous amounts of cheese, bacon, egg and much more. Holidaying from Australia and was invited here by a local. Fortunately we arrived just before 7 - so we enjoyed Happy Hour drinks and some excellent oysters and muscles. The burgers were delicious. Everyone who knows me knows I don't like burgers. I know I don't like burgers. I know that you know that I know I don't like burgers. The inside of my body tells me how much it despises burgers. My partner was shocked for me to suggest a burger place even. But why not, eh. Maybe this will be the joint to lessen my horror of them. Well it was very very close. I must say these burgers were delicious. Fresh ingredients, simple product, tastes good. The toasted soft bun (with no damn sesame seeds) was a nice touch. I had the big cheese burger sans the beetroot and my partner had the double decker. He was contemplating ordering another burger he loved it so much. We ordered the combo deals with chips and drinks, what a bargain $27 all up. For the quality, especially burgers, which I find unattractively messy to eat that was amazing deal. They had utensils if you needed to slice yours up, like I did and a hand washing station for the messier eater types. Parking is free at Coles as I wouldn't have a clue how to get there via public transport; drive much easier. Admittedly it did take me over an hour to eat my monster burger and I made an effort to finish it all. It was great to actually enjoy a food I normally avoid. Nice work Lash people. read more

AMAZING burger restaurant. A few friends and I decided to go large and try a few of Lashings Brighton famous burgers. I tried their "Double Whiplash Burger" which had two beef patties, 3 slices of American cheese, turkey bacon (delicious!), pineapple, jalapenos, tomato, lettuce, chilli mayo and pickled mayo on a nice soft bun. One mate had the same burger, but decided to super size it to 6 patties, with 6 slices of cheese too, & is called the "Lashings Double Sextuple-Whiplash Burger". And another mate wanted to try for the free burger challenge so choose the "Double Sextuple-Whiplash Burger" which had 12 patties & 12 cheese slices (yes 12, can you believe that!). This burger was to be free if my mate could finish it within 30 minutes on his pat-ma-lone. He failed but it was funny to watch. So, it's a great place, awesome staff and was handy to get the free underground parking, as it's located within the Novotel complex. We will return ... not sure if I could ever finish the 12 pattie challenge but the Double Whiplash needs my attention again very soon. read more
