Dr. Nencka goes by "Dr. Joe," and the staff assumes it's okay to call me by my first name without even asking permission. Young people don't realize the racist and colonial background to Title plus first name (Driving Miss Daisy?), or how infantile it sounds to have an oral surgeon avoid his last name. Well I got over my curmudgeonly old fashioned irritation pretty quickly because I remembered I was in extreme discomfort and the very able staff here got me in right away based on a reference from my dentist in Chicago. Yes, I live in Milwaukee, but I have trust issues. I started going to a dentist in Chicago in 1968, continued when he retired with his son, and then his young partner when the son semi-retired. In Chicago, Dr. Minkowski said I needed a root canal if there was even a chance my infected cracked tooth was salvageable, but none of her go-to endodontists would give me a reasonable appointment so she reached out to her academic connections in Milwaukee (she was a Marquette grad) and came up with this Hales Corner office. Dr. Nencka was personable, charismatic, and most importantly, confident from the start. He explained the situation and possibilities to me from the start in a language that was at my level. Unfortunately I've had a few root canals, and this one was the most skillful, the most comfortable, as well as the quickest. A very unusual combination. His assistant was also excellent, and I appreciate how the billing was handled up front. They saved my tooth. Nice office, plenty of parking. There's a bunch of dentist offices right next to each other, read the signs carefully to enter the right one.

I cannot speak highly enough of the West Allis office in general and Dr Sharma in particular. I…read morereceived an appointment a week after my call. Other endodontists on my insurance plan wanted me to wait over a month. I presented for a consultation regarding a redo of a root canal. The staff were courteous, professional and polite. The dental assist was skilled, very kind and gentle. Dr Sharma was one of the nicest people I have dealt with in a long time. Very knowledgeable, humble, incredible bedside manner. Although he could have recommended, and I really wanted, a redo of the root canal performed by a general dentist many years ago, Dr Sharma was very firm, polite and apologetic that a redo would almost certainly fail, clearly gave the reasons why, explained his reasoning thoroughly using CT and plain xray images. He then arranged for oral surgery consult in my region. I traveled over 100 mikes to see him and it was well worth the trip. I most highly recommend Dr Sharma.

I went to see if Molar 18 could be saved by a Root Canal but after taking the CBCT Scan ($200 out…read moreof pocket) and another bitewing PA X-Ray, Dr. Elizabeth Choybowski informed me that the tooth would not be a good candidate for a root canal. She began talking about TMJ which I have never had and made strong suggestions to see a specific TMJ specialist across the street. Actually, Dr. Chybowski should have suggested seeing an ENT (ears, noser and throat doctor) where they could make an accurate diagnosis and do the necessary accurate diagnostic tests and so forth. Also, TMJ is not covered by Medicare and most private employer sponsored health insurance. I appreciated the fact Dr. Chybowski was honest in telling me that my tooth would be better off being extracted which they do not handle. But I did want to speak with Dr. Choyboyski a bit further and she seemed very hurried and left. So I made my own appointment with an Oral Surgeon at Great Midwest Oral Surgery. I asked WI Endodontics-Mayfair to send the CBCT Scan as well as the PA Bitewing for that Molar to them. They did send the CBCT Scan but Greater Midwest Oral Surgery could not open the file and view the CBCT Scan. They also mentioned that they had three other patIents from WI Endodontic-Mayfair that CBCT Scans could not be opened/viewed. I called WI Endo back and told them that. All they could say was the Oral Surgeon's Office did not have the correct software to view this $200 CBCT Scan. No way was I going to pay another $200 for another CBCT at the Oral Surgeon's Office too. The Dr. Groeckermann, Oral Surgeon was kind enough to offer to do it for free given the circumstances. I did some research regarding this and found out in the State of WI, Endodontics are required to send the required software disc along with their CBCT Scan. WI Endodontic-Mayfair did not do this and attempted to place the blame on the Oral Surgeon's system. For the brief time actually speaking with Dr Chybowski and her insistence on TMJ referral, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend WI Endodontics-Mayfair nor Dr. Chybowski. It seems like the CBCT Scan is the money maker and referrals for TMJ aren't far behind. I also believe that Dr. Chybowski could see the amount of decay and placement within the Molar with the PA Bitewing....my own General Dentist could see this on her PA Bitewing of Molar 18. I just wanted to see if WI EndodonticsI could have done a root canal and saved the tooth, but it turned into another stressful, expensive nightmare for me.

From the start, I appreciated how easy the process was. They communicated with me ahead of time, sending over new patient information and allowing me to submit my insurance details via text. This made check-in a breeze when I arrived! The office itself is modern, bright, and smells fresh and clean. Upon arrival, I checked in, which was simple thanks to having everything submitted ahead of time. The cleaning area was a bit overwhelming at first due to how open it was with all of the cleaning rooms--coming from a smaller, more secluded space--but once I got to my cleaning room, I felt comfortable. Since I was a new patient, I had to take x-rays, and the staff member who walked me through each step was super informative and friendly. The equipment they used was top-of-the-line, and I thought it was so cool to see my teeth on the monitor after the x-rays. They even have a machine that checks your entire mouth, which I really appreciated for the thoroughness and teeth health. The hygienist was fantastic--she was careful and took her time with the cleaning. One thing I really liked was that she made sure to use suction when needed, which is always a nice touch--some hygienists forget to suction or have you ask. The dentist was just as friendly and sweet as the rest of the team, and she did a thorough check of my teeth and asked if I had any concerns too. I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks--between the friendly staff, the cleanliness, and the compliments on my teeth, it was an overall great experience! I liked that they made my next appointment card for six months right away too. The only downside is that they don't offer Invisalign or braces, but they referred me to an orthodontist, which I appreciated. I also loved the goodie bag they gave me--it had some great products inside. I can't wait to return for my six-month cleaning! Thank you to the whole team for being so welcoming and professional!

Was referred from my dentist to go for an eval. For that visit I needed to wait 10 minutes before…read moreI was seen. I also needed a 3-D Xray that of course was NOT covered by insurance. That was $200. I needed to come back for a root canal. My appointment was for noon. Once again, I had to wait in the waiting room until 12:15. Then they put me in a room. I didn't even get my anesthesia for another 10 minutes. And then they left me again for 10 minutes for it to kick in. The bedside manner of the doctor was not there at all. There was no apology, nothing for the lateness. I'm sorry my time is just as valuable as every single person in that office. When I booked the appointment I asked how long the root canal appointment was going to take and I was told, 60-70 minutes. I was there for 2 hours, 120 minutes!!! What kind of compensation do I get for that??? Nothing. What a joke. If they knew they were behind they should have called, and I would have left my job a little later. And they wanted me there 20 minutes prior to the appointment time? For what, for me to sit in the waiting room? I'm pretty sure If we got compensated for our "waiting time" things would be more timely. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

If you have had any kind of dental emergency or dental pain, you know it is crazy-making. Add in…read moresome general dentist office anxiety and it's a hot mess. My primary dentist referred me to Dr. Timothy Gainey for 2 root canals. The minute I nervously walked in the door, I was greeted by a friendly human (Laurie). :) My consultation went smoothly, and my procedures were done with the utmost professionalism, care and with a bit of humor thrown in. Dr. Gainey and his team even stayed late to finish both of my root canals and get me out of pain. I cannot say enough positive things about this entire experience. I can say that I will not go anywhere else should I need any additional procedures in the future. Dr. Gainey is your guy. Make the appointment!

Dr Oh, and the staff were awesome! I was able to schedule for my root canal to be done right after…read morethe evaluation of the tooth (if it was needed), which saved me from having to wait to get it done. The root canal took an hour during which I felt zero pain. YEAH! I was given detailed instructions concerning what to take when the numbing wore off, what to watch for and how to take care of the temporary filling until the permanent one could be done. (FYI, they do a temporary so that if there is a problem, they don't have to remove a permanent filling to address the problem) They told me to wait for 2 weeks to get the permanent fill, but I have to wait 3 weeks due to the possibility of jury duty during week 2.
