As a regular patron of this establishment, I would never ever thought of writing 1 star review. Bartender that was "bartending" on Friday night was extremely rude and not polite. After waiting decent 5 minutes to grab an attention ( in half-way empty bar), while he was "busy" , I've tried to give simple gesture that we are interested in ordering more drinks, but it didn't work. What made us to leave was his reaction : " My name is not Hey" - "What do you want?" . First of all, as someone who works in the industry, I would never initiate or call bartenders/serves with " Hey ". His reaction immediately made us close our tab and leave, despite of desire of having more drinks. Seems like he had more important things to do, rather than do his job ( or at least part of it ). I thought this was a really cool place! The vibe was interesting - it was pretty low-key, with a divey feel, but there were also people who were more dressed up, and tons of TVs showing a football game - but it all kind of made sense together. Honestly, my main focus was the $6 Old Fashioned on draft - I wasn't sure how I'd like a fizzy Old Fashioned, but it was pretty good! Beers were mostly $3, so even though my friend and I were going to meet some friends at another bar after, I decided to lure them over using the inexpensive prices, and it totally worked! I also tried my friend's orange crush, which is dangerous - I totally couldn't taste the alcohol - my other friend's paloma, which was on the more sour end (so, not really my taste, but probably good if you like palomas and tasting the grapefruit/tequila), and a mezcal drink, which was nice and smoky. The food menu is limited but DELICIOUS - my friend got the turkey panini, and it was so good, and they prepared it so quickly. Other than the three panini on the menu, they just serve chips and dip. Bartenders were friendly. One complaint - the dart board is right outside of the bathroom, which felt like it could end in disaster. This Northeast DC spot is the definition of a local neighborhood bar. No fancy neon signs or grass walls just a door that looks like it's the entrance to your local corner store, inside metal bar stools surround a long bar, and darts and Ms Pac-Man for entertaining the collection of eclectic customers it seems to attract. With all that said it was probably one of the most authentic bar experiences I've had in the area and the bartender was great. It's open from 12pm-3am on weekends and even offers happy hour 7 days a week (4pm-7pm) which was a surprise on my recent weekend visit here. They have a variety of draft, can, and bottled beers, cocktail and wine options, and even jello-shots (which are fairly strong) with prices ranging from $3-$12. They also have a few food options to snack on like buffalo chicken sandwiches and half-smokes. All in all a pretty cool bar to check out in the area if you're looking for something simple, lowkey, and easy on the pockets. read more

Went to Last Call with friends to watch Game 3 of the World Series. Space is at a premium in this establishment; maybe 40 seats total, including bar stools. The place was packed - about 80 people total. The crowd is eclectic and fun; it's the kind of place where you strike up a conversation with the person standing next to you, end up introducing yourselves and shaking hands and continuing the conversation for awhile longer. Age range was young 20's to over 60, and everyone seemed to be having fun. Drink service was fairly quick. The cocktail menu is short, and the night I was there, they ran out of Sauvignon Blanc. Had an 'Whatever and Soda' (any flavor of Stoli with soda and a lemon wedge) and it was good, refreshing -- and $7. The interior of the bar is a cross between your parents' rec room in the basement and industrial. There are a couple dart boards, and one bathroom. Surprisingly, the crowd kept the bathroom pretty clean! My only ding is the food menu. Currently, the only food you can get is paninis. Hubs had one and pronounced it very good, although he thought it took longer than necessary to prepare. As someone who's gluten-intolerant, my only option was a couple bags of potato chips with homemade French onion dip ($6). The dip was good, but it's not really helpful when what you really need is a meal. The place just opened, so I'm sure they will be adding to the menu as time goes by. read more

Been living in Union Market for two years, and would come here to pregame or whenever I didn't feel like leaving the neighborhood. It used to be cool, and there's still a couple of cool bartenders there, but lately they act like it's a privilege to be at Last Call. LOL! It pains me to share the "secret" that this bar has the best priced drinks in DC, but no other bar comes close to their $3 beers. They also are stocked with some of the classic cheap beers, like Schlitz, which isn't readily available most places. They also have some classic arcade games inside and the grungy garage feel is a nice change from the newer, upscale places being built in the Union market area. I have some mixed feelings about the gentrification of this area, but Last Call Bar definitely has that retro dive bar feel that is hard to find in DC. We stopped by on the first or second night that it was open, and we did have to wait in line for a few minutes to get in. The bar was PACKED (definitely above what was probably the legal limit... hah). It was so busy that I couldn't even tell that there were tables sprinkled toward the back of the bar. The guys I was with bought a couple beers, and I sampled the Erin Rose Irish Coffee which was surprisingly delicious and extremely boozy. Went here before going to a show at Echostage. The orange crush was delicious. Good selection of beers, and other cocktails. So was their house made dip. Good prices and friendly bartenders. Would definitely visit again! They have TVs to catch games too. read more

I've passed this place many times during the day and suspected nothing. They do a great job of keeping the "secret dive bar" effect. I stopped in because they served food late and it was close by. The front bar is small and it was busy on a Friday night but service was fast. There is another room for more seating I believe but I didn't go in there. Several tvs show games and there are also dart boards to play on. The prices are amazing for DC and the few panini sandwiches on the menu seemed yummy. Great little dive bar. Clearly this place has been negatively impacted by COVID. Every one I've talked to said this place was shoulder to shoulder every weekend. When I went, it was very sparse. Great dive bar within a few minutes' walk of Union Market. Combination of multiple $3 beer & seltzer options, decently cheap liquor, three large TVs and two dart boards makes for a fun area. Bartenders and staff were very friendly and fairly prompt too. Only consideration if you don't like standing is that there can be limited seating. I'll be back at some point. read more
