Half of the people on the bus were bored as well and ready to move on or be finished. The provided lunch was good what made it great was the view from the radio station we ate in.

I had to pay almost $900 for hotel, another trip on a different ferry so we could meet our cruise ship in Juneau. No refunds have been given!! Take this trip at your own risk!! They are not reliable & are not sanctioned by the cruise ships because of their sloppy operating practices! Avoid this ferry!!

He decided to take a different course than the others so that we might have a chance to see a bear snacking on some salmon. It took a bit of waiting, but we most surely did see a bear not too far from us (about 50 feet). It was an amazing experience getting to be able to see the whole thing up close while snapping some great pictures. The tours provides you with some really good binoculars which brought everything closer and crystal clear. Snacks and beverages were provided. If you're in Haines and not finding much to do, because let's face it it's not that big of a place head down and take a lake tour!

There is nice scenery if the weather it good (they can't guarantee the weather either). Our weather was good, but initially we didn't see much wildlife. Nice scenery, pretty mountains. We saw a few birds, including trumpeter swans. On the way back to the dock we got lucky. Bears. A mama brown bear and her juvenile cub. The boat stopped and we lingered for several minutes watching them interact. It was great. As I said, they can't guarantee that. But if you do get to see the bears it's truly magical. And watching them from the safety of the boat is really the only way to do it.

She was amazingly knowledgeable and passionate about the area and even went off "scripted agenda" when she thought there was something we would be interested in seeing. While the tour could accommodate up to 10, we had the good luck to be the only two! This allowed us flexibility to see many areas of Haines we might otherwise not get to. Nicholas was a fantastic guide. He started by asking questions about what we might like to photograph and see. I always learn something new and this time was no exception. I took well over 100 photos and the time flew by; before we knew it, we were headed back to the ferry. The only hitch was the return to our RV park. We were given vouchers for the city bus but it only took us left than halfway back. Not a problem, it just would have been nice to know (we would have walked the entire way and not waited 15 minutes for the bus)

Maya, our hostess, was phenomenal: engaging, funny, knowledgeable about the history, and made the trip even more enjoyable than when I originally rode this train ( regular passenger) a decade ago. Scenery was amazing, history interesting, and the food ( particularly the cream puffs) fantastic!! Lived my Maya Mimosas too! Make sure you book our trip, whether it is regular fair or for the parlor car ASAP as a quickly fill up.

Skagway was our third and final Alaskan port of our cruise. We were advised by friends to book the…read moreWhite Pass and Yukon Route Railroad excursion so we did that through Princess Cruises. Yes, it was pricey but our onboard credit offset the cost a bit. A 6-hour tour that included brunch. It was a 7:15 am boarding so we had an early start for our day. Everything was very organized - we knew where, when, and what to bring (passport!!). After a short bus ride to the rail station, we had a beautiful train ride up through the White Pass Summit and ended at Fraser BC. The views went from dessert to snow-capped mountains. While we were able to sit and watch the views from our train, we actually spent a majority of the ride outside between cars - cold but exilerating. At Fraser, we took a motorcoach to the Yukon Suspension Bridge. There, we had breakfast at a restaurant (which I didn't catch the name of): pancakes, sausage, yogurt, fruit, juices, coffee. All of which was cafeteria-style meh. But, we had time to explore the suspension bridge and surrounding areas - that was really cool. And there was a tiny shop across from the restaurant that sold snacks and souvenirs. On the way back to Skagway, we stopped at an old Gold Rush Cemetery. Since it started to rain, I didn't venture out to the cemetery with the tour group (in fact, many of us decided to stay dry on the bus). Overall, we really liked this excursion despite the high cost. The views were awesome and the weather was perfectly crisp and cool.

We were fed on our departure and return, the salmon chowder was so good and welcome after a cold day on our way back. Lots of good recommendations on where to go in Juneau and great info on wildlife and the area in general . Catch was our captain and very knowledgeable, Hannah was super attentive and friendly , keep up the good work!

Alaska Fjordlines ferry from Juneau to Skagway was one of the most pleasant cruises of my three…read moremonth tenure in Alaska. Everybody was super friendly and Captain George was exceptional , slowed down and stopped for all major animal sightings (whales , puffins, sea otters) , had incredibly detailed explanations on the history of the Fjords. Alexa (From Temple University ) was the deckhand extraordinaire ( also stepped in for the lunch server and doubled as an office hand in Haines and helped me with my booking ) , she was also incredibly knowledgeable and friendly of all aspects of the Fjords. This cruise in a whole day cruise, I just did the return leg, very highly recommend the whole cruise (both legs) . Never had a better cruise.
