Do NOT use this company - avoid at all costs. I've lived in NYC for over 12 years and I have NEVER had such a horrible experience moving! Not only were they scamming, but the person in charge cursed at me and blocked me. They blatantly overcharged me, and when I called to ask about it the person in charge called me a "c*nt" (?!), yelled at me on the phone, hung up, and blocked me. I have messages from him (prior to the move) saying I would be charged by the half hour and yet I was charged over the end of my move time with no explanation.  I had someone with me who SAW the movers end their work and leave my apartment, as well as time stamps showing time ended/paid and them leaving. (Which this man ignored.) I had tipped 20% and was super kind to the movers - this company clearly scams its clients, the manager actually blocked me when I called to point out the mistake in what they charged me.  I have never had such a horrendous experience with movers. Additionally, I was told the movers would call me 15 minutes PRIOR to their arrival time, as I need time to travel from work and couldn't travel & wait an entire hour. Instead they texted me when they were already there, ahead of the allotted time slot. When I asked about this the person cursed at me and did not listen. This company is definitely scamming their clients and I am appalled by their behavior to a paying customer.  I tipped 20% on the (OVERCHARGED) amount and was kind to the movers, yet was cursed at and berated? A friend called and was told AFTER they complete her move they would Venmo me the $55 that was owed. They never did this. Then they told her someone would call me about this. Nope - they just 100% ignored and blocked.

My husband and I were feeling confident that we had chosen a good moving company, based on the 5-star reviews. Unfortunately, that changed during the move, as we became very disappointed. After a series of events, we felt like we had been overcharged and expressed our extreme disappointment with Will, the "decision maker" of the company, who, in return, attempted to blame us for his company's neolithic incompetence. Based on what we know now, we would never hire this company for these reasons: 1) They did not come prepared for the size of our move, arriving with a truck not big enough to fit everything, even though they knew that our old apartment was 350 sq ft. This resulted in them having to send another truck and crew to move the rest of our things, adding an hour and a half, with us waiting to our time. The first truck and crew arrived at 8:45am, with the second truck and crew finally departing at 6pm. Will said they charged us from 9:30-5p, giving us an hour and a half complimentary; however, there were two of us, not one, that had to wait, one at each location. 2) You would think that a professional moving company in NYC would know the logistics of navigating the streets while moving people in and out of their apartments. Their crews consisted of 3 men, which you pay for; however, one of them stayed seated in the truck so they could avoid getting a ticket. The one in the truck could've helped carry boxes from the building to the truck while keeping an eye out for any parking cops. We never agreed to pay for someone to sit in the truck or to pay for inexperienced labor. We later discovered, the crew was fairly new to the business. With all due respect to the crew, this discovery provided an explanation as to why they, demonstrating a noticeable degree of uncertainty, moved slowly. However, this was at our expense, which further added to the time we were being charged. My husband helped them the whole time, in order to minimize time charged. A professional company would never send out an inexperienced crew without having at least one being experienced, providing training, while supervising the move; however, the experienced guy sat in the truck. 3) When my husband arrived with the second crew, they found all of our things from the first truck load in the lobby of our new apartment building and the first crew was nowhere in sight. Our stuff had been LEFT UNATTENDED! I had wondered why it was taking the first crew so long to come up with our stuff to our new apartment. When the second crew arrived, I learned from them that first crew had LEFT to go to another job, in which they failed to inform me, leaving our stuff unattended (and that was at 4pm). 4) Our boxes and furniture were not handled with care. We found a foot print and tear in our sofa and things that were neatly packed in boxes, had been completely emptied out and thrown into other boxes. The blame game was attempted again, by saying that we we had not packed very well, which is curious, because the first thing that Will said when he had come into our apartment was that we were among the few clients they've had that actually HAD things packed well, with everything in a box and labelled. The only thing they had to do was move the boxes, along with the wrapped furniture out of the apartment and into their truck. 5) Will would say that he gave us another team for free when we would have been charged double. Isn't it interesting on the amount of time that it took for them to do a 1-bd apartment (350 sq. feet) with 2 trucks and crews? If they had had a larger truck with an experienced crew, then the move would not have taken nearly as long as it did. My husband and I moved our studio apartment that was a 5-flight walk-up, BY OURSELVES, in 5 hours on the SAME STREET with a van, which required several trips back and forth. If you are going to be moving and you are going to use these guys, then you better take notes and LOTS of pictures, because sadly, you cannot trust this company.

items in the blue is what we ended up moving & highlighted ones in yellow are some of the few items that i had to transport myself later..

unfortunately, using movers for the first time and going with these guys was not the right move. i was told that the rate was $275/2hrs & $69/ 30mins after the 2hrs. first of all, they were unprofessional regarding charges. i checked beforehand that the movers were bringing a mattress bag & wasn't told that it would be charged. my friend also used these movers and he was NOT charged for the mattress bag. during the time of the move, one of the movers got a call from someone at the office telling him to charge me $7 mattress bag. before the day of the move, i made sure everything was packed & grouped together to make the move more efficient. i actually helped wrap up the big furniture with blankets etc. on the day of the move to speed up the process because the guys were stalling. i moved out of my tiny 1bd and needed help moving: 1 mattress, 1 floyd bed frame (3wooden panels that are easy to transport), ikea standing mirror, ikea desk, standing desk top, tv stand, side table, 1x large, medium, small suitcases, and 7 boxes. honestly, this could've been done EASILY in 2hours with my friends but i didn't want to put them through the trouble. now i know for next time. i anticipated / feared that the movers will try to take longer than 2 hrs. the two guys didn't even end up moving all my things because they were going so slow. i had to tell them to leave some items behind because, at that point, i wanted only the big furniture out so that we can be done within the two hour time frame. but of course...even though my new place was 1 block south & 2 blocks east of my previous apt (a 4min drive WITH traffic & going incredibly lol), the movers took 13mins to get there even though i saw them leave before me. to top it all off, the person in charge at the office THREATENED me when i expressed my concerns for being charged $69 extra+$7 for the mattress bag for ending FIVE minutes past the two hour mark. the guy threatened me saying that if i didn't pay that amount, he'd make my friend (who was also moving around the same time as me) would be charged. let me be clear, the movers got to my apt at 9:30a but started actually moving things around 9:40am & the whole move definitely could've been done in an hr & half at most if they were efficient. in the end they charged me $351 for two hrs + 5 mins "overtime" of work + $7 last min plastic mattress bag charge. honestly, i understand that they're a business that needs to make profit, but i wish they had a better business model. if they did the job efficiently, i would've tipped them really well, would've hired them again in the future & would recommend them to friends & colleagues (which would benefit their business more). wasn't the case and i hope this isn't the case for you too.

They had seamlessly loaded the contents of my 650 square foot apartment including large/heavy fragile furniture with glass (8 foot tall dresser with mirror weighing 250 lbs, and 50 galloon reptile tank) in about 1 hour. We promptly left via car to meet them at our new address in Philly, and they arrived at exactly the same time as we did. They unloaded the truck in about an hour again, and helped partially unpack and put items in the proper places, especially the furniture that would have been hard for me to move on my own later. I will continue to use Piece of Cake, and have recommended to several friends over the years that I have been using them. It was quick working with the customer support team initially to quote the move, make payment, and on COIs and confirmation. When we move again in a couple years Piece of Cake will be the only mover I call. My recommendation to others considering the service, be transparent and honest about the contents of your move, especially items requiring extra protection even if there is an additional fee involved. There were no surprise add-ons in my move because we carefully selected every single item that would be included in our move early on in the process, and made sure to reply in detail to the follow up emails regarding insurance, access to the apartments (stairs vs elevator, reserved elevator, etc.), and so on move-in day everything went off without a hitch. Piece of Cake are professionals and we love the service.

I want to post an update to my prior review…read more As bad as the moving experience was, Piece of Cake Movers completely changed my view when it came time to address the issues I raised afterward. Emily handled my concerns with professionalism, fairness, and real diligence. She could not have been nicer. She listened, took the issues seriously, and worked through them in a way that felt fair and respectful. My original concerns about the move itself remain what they were. But I also recognize that any business of this size can occasionally have a bad crew or a bad experience in the field. What matters is how the company responds when that happens. Here, the response after the move was excellent. Credit is due where credit is due: the post-move customer service, especially from Emily, was outstanding. For that reason, I am giving the company 5 stars for how it handled the aftermath and resolved the issues. I will use them the next time I move. Emily was that good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you, Emily.

DO NOT HIRE GREAT MOVERS -- UNPROFESSIONAL, CARELESS, AND DISHONEST…read more On October 30, 2025, I hired Great Movers to remove and store heavy items from my property. Three movers arrived, led by a foreman named Steve. They were instructed to place the sofa and love seat in a designated dumpster area. During the move, the team used our bathroom while working in the bedroom. Shortly after they left, my daughter arrived home and immediately realized that her gold, diamond, and pink sapphire necklace -- a deeply sentimental graduation gift she'd worn almost daily for three years -- was missing. It had been safely in the bedroom that morning, and she hadn't worn it that day due to her outfit choice. We searched thoroughly. It was gone. I texted Steve immediately and asked for his manager's contact information. When he called back, I explained what happened. His first response was dismissive: "Great Movers isn't responsible for stolen items." No empathy, no concern, no sense of accountability. Over the next three days, I called the company multiple times and left messages for management (Saad or anyone in charge) -- not a single call was returned. Zero acknowledgment. As if that wasn't enough, I then received a call from building management saying the movers had dumped my furniture next to a pizza shop's dumpster, upsetting the business owner. I had clearly told them to place the items inside the designated dumpster area. When I called again, the dispatcher promised to contact Steve. Steve later claimed I "never said anything" about a designated area -- an outright lie. He finally returned to move the furniture to the proper spot, but even then, he set it next to the dumpster until I told him to put it inside. When I again brought up the stolen necklace, he was cold, sarcastic, and emotionless. I told him I would be filing a police report and that if the necklace was returned, there would be no questions asked. His only reply was to ask "where it was located." It is now November 5, and I have still received no response from Great Movers management. This experience has been deeply upsetting, not only because of the stolen jewelry and unprofessional conduct, but also because of the company's complete lack of integrity, accountability, and compassion. My advice: DO NOT USE GREAT MOVERS. If you value your belongings -- and basic human decency -- find another moving company. Great Movers = Great Disappointment.

After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. It took us about 2 hrs to settle in, and they once again unpacked most of the furnitures and reassembled them, making me feel settled in and relaxed. I cannot thank their team enough. They're all so polite, friendly and efficient. Within 1 day, I already feel 95% settled in. It's the easiest, stress-free moving experience I had in a while!

What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. Also shoutout to one of the crew members who was on his first day. You truly could not tell. The whole team was professional, efficient, and just genuinely great to work with. This was hands down the easiest move I've ever had. If you are debating which moving company to use, this is your sign. Go with them.

Based on my estimates of the time the job would take, they were much cheaper than any of the 5 other companies we got quotes from. In the end though, the job did take longer than expected. They used three employees and a large truck. They provided blankets, plastic wrap, and tape to properly protect all items for transport. If they noticed any preexisting damage on the furniture, they notified us promptly so we were aware. Initially, they worked quite efficiently, but began to slow down during the second half of pick-up. What I thought would take about 4 hours ended up being a 6 hour job, including a 45 minute drive to the new place. They still came in cheaper than the next best quote we were considering, but not by much. When they finished the move, they left a mountain of tape, plastic, and cardboard, which they supplied, in our hallway. We thought they would clean it up before leaving, but we were left with that task, which was disappointing. They require a $50 + tax deposit to reserve a move. You pay the balance after all the work is done. They offer a discount if you pay in cash. Overall, they were professional and moving is grueling work so I have no major complaints, other than the debris they left behind. But be mindful that the time-based quote may add up, so be prepared to spend more than you might anticipate.
