Showed up almost 2 hours late, damaged a $300 chair they couldn't be bothered to wrap in a blanket. They could not disassemble a table because they didn't bring a full set of allen wrenches. The good news is, I was able to dig out my own set for them. The bad news is I'm still waiting for it back. I didn't even want to ask them to reassemble it in the new location. If I had, thought, I might still have the hardware it came with which they also took. Lest you think the damage was limited to the furniture, don't worry. They also dropped a box containing imported olive oil and red wine vinagrette which would have made a nice salad, if it weren't busy being a threat to life and limb for days, while their (admittedly hilarious) attempts to shove a modestly-sized couch down a hallway is surely a mortal threat to my security deposit. They should change their name to four F's for FFFFFFFFFFForget you. read more

I booked these guys after reading the great reviews on Yelp. Maybe the crew we had was new, but they were untrained, unprofessional, and did an overall poor job. They were 2 hours late for a 9am appointment. It then took them over 6 hours to move our 1 bedroom apartment - and we stopped them before they had reassembled the table and bed frame because we were worried about them damaging things further. They were basically the opposite of Midas' golden touch. It felt like everything they touched was damaged by the end of the move. They didn't know how to properly wrap things (it just so happens that the person I was moving with used to be a mover and was appalled). The were clumsy, careless, and had no hustle whatsoever. This was an elevator building and they blew right past our reservation window. Even my sweet, white haired maintenance man was aghast at their slowness and dawdling. At least 2 of them argued about how the other one was doing something wrong. They claim it took them 2 hours to drive from Lincoln Square to Gowanus because "a street was closed". I drove the same path twice that day (on streets, not highways) in 40 minutes. We actually used google maps at the time of their departure, which said (including traffic and avoiding highways) less than 45 minutes. They were not prepared - no extra boxes (we could've used another large box but the stores were sold out), and they ran out of furniture wrap. They also accidentally left with the hardware to our furniture so that we couldn't reassemble things ourselves without ordering new hardware. We tried to contact them about the missing hardware and the damage to our furniture and never received a response. I waited 2 months to write this review to give them a chance to respond to the calls/emails. Still nothing. The only thing I have to give them credit for, is that In the middle of the move when we called to see about compensation for the excessive lateness in the morning, they gave a discount of the price of 2 movers per hour instead of 3. But after seeing the results of the move, I was nothing but disappointed. read more

The only thing that went right with my ex and I breaking up. Needless to say I was in a not so pleasant mindset. Just was using a moving service because all this was totally last minute. Called and set a time for them to be there for 1PM. At 12:30 something I saw a truck outside, I thought to myself ... are they already here? Went out and was greeted by three young men. Extremely pleasant and mild mannered they were. They were extremely organised and took great care of my items. Wrapped properly and treated like how I would treat them. Got to my new place, 3 story building so no elevator. They carefully negotiated the stairs and hallway to get everything upstairs. Carried everything upstairs and laid it out exactly how I wanted. Even to the millimeter where I wanted the items to be .. (my OCD kicked in). I highly highly highly recommend these moving guys. If their boss reads this, sir or ma'am, you have something really special. Without a doubt, looking back at that day I left her. Not professional movers, nice enough guys but not professionals, (the movers nor the office staff) save yourself the stress, & financial loss & hire another company. This company was recommended to me by two colleagues. I informed "Nick", I was downsizing from a 3BR with a dining room to a 2BR without a dining room, but I still had a lot of furniture. The day of the move three "movers" turned up 30 minutes late (although one of them did call to notify me they would be late). I had previously informed "Nick", I needed 3 beds taken down & put back together, despite this they turned up without tools & I needed to loan them my allen key set, the key was never returned. I was told the move would take about 4-6hrs, confirmed by the movers that day, I offered to buy them lunch if they were breaking for lunch, they told me no, they would work straight through, the move took 9.5hrs, they turned up in a small truck & had to make 2 trips. My wardrobe mirror was broken in the elevator, (despite this I still tipped every single one of them) after they left & I started unpacking, a box full of large serving platters (some handed down to me, some I purchased) had crushed, every single one was broken. It was obvious the box was used as a base to stack other boxed on top, despite "FRAGILE" being written all over the boxes. What makes this experience worse is the reaction from this company, first my phone calls & multiple emails were ignored, finally the response was if I had receipts & photos of the "alleged broken items" (seriously, who keeps their nana's receipts from 50yrs ago?) Unfortunately, I neglected to photograph the items I doubt it would matter to them. If you've had an experience like mine, & based on other reviews other folks have, I would advise you to report them to the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Transportation, & the American Moving and Storage Association. I gave them 1 star because I couldn't give them zero, definitely would not recommend. Jokers, & illiterate, not a serious business. read more

We recently hired Four A's movers to help us move in Jersey City. Nick and his crew member were curteous and got the job done in 2.5 hours. Pros - Reasonable rates - Responsive in communication prior to the move - Punctual - Efficient and move swiftly - Polite, friendly and professional - If you emphasize fragile pieces, they make great effort to protect the furniture Cons - They don't wrap your furnitures up unless you explicitly tell them. To be fair, they do ask so don't assume it's standard procedure. I would recommend them and use them again. read more

We had an overall very positive experience with Four A's Movers. We had a move from two apartments into one and the two guys showed up right on time with all the right stuff. They did a diligent job of securely packing everything and were timely and efficient during the moving process. Absolutely no complaints here. The only issues we did have were with the Certificates of Insurance. We needed three--one for each apartment and they messed up four times on the one for my apartment. These were pretty sloppy mistakes, as the specifications were quite simple. It wasted both my time and my apartment manager's time getting it straight. However, it was finally done correctly and the price is good, so I would recommend this company for your move. They also rounded down on the price for time--our jaws dropped at this! Honestly, they were fantastic movers and just need to get more organized. They are new and working out the kinks, but they did a great job on the actual move. read more

Called a few places, but found it hard finding a mover at short notice in NYC. One place quoted me $1,200 minimum! I called Four A's after seeing some reviews on Yelp and quickly got a booking no fuss. They managed to get a Certificate of Insurance sorted for the building we were moving into. On the day, they were a little early, but very friendly and curteous. No mucking around, even though they were paid by the hour. Getting the job done as quick as possible. Careful with delicate furniture, the elevator was broken on the day we were moving out, but they managed to get everything down stairs super quick. They have no hidden costs, pay by the hour and you get everything. Elevator or not. Thanks to Nick and the team, did a great job and I would highly recommend them to anyone! read more

These guys are so great! They just left my apartment and I'm very happy with their work. Called them on very short notice (3 days) and they were still able to help me move on a Sunday. They helped me wrap furniture for protection and got me from Jersey to Brooklyn in 3 hours (travel time included). The guys they sent were friendly and efficient. They charge by the hour so I highly recommend that you plan things out ahead of time. Organize your things neatly and have your furniture taken apart and wrapped AHEAD of their arrival to save on the cost of them having to do it. Also be mindful of the start/end time and say them out loud to the workers so there are no disputes. I'd definitely use them again the next time I move. read more

Would not recommend them. They were probably the most affordable, but they definitely were not professional. I asked them to be very careful with my stuff numerous times, but I caught them man handling my stuff. At one point, I even caught one of the guys riding my bicycle in the storage unit. I used a completely different company to move my stuff out of the storage unit, which I was much happier with. I would NOT recommend them. This company is cheaper, but you risk having your items damaged. read more

I moved with them again on July 15th and while Nick was super fast, his partner was pretty slow. The stairwell in my old building is horrible and small and my couch got annhilated. They also left behind my 4ft long beautiful painting, the most precious thing I owned, by the trash room in my building. I hunted it down and another tenant in the building took it in, and now I'm trying to get it back. Otherwise they were very nice to work with. read more

These guys are excellent. On time (early!), efficient and professional. They moved heavy pieces of equipment for an ice cream shop from Manhattan to Brooklyn without me having to lift a finger. There was a lot of tricky maneuvering involved, and they handled everything with great care and had no problems at all. Completely hassle-free, unbelievably quick work. After having my original movers cancel on me this past Tuesday (fail), I had to scramble to find movers and came across these guys on the interwebs. They took the job at a competitive rate and provided COI within a very short window. Their pricing was very straight forward (no hidden fees for COI or "travel time") that benefits both the company and the customer. Nick and BJ came by promptly at 9am, surveyed what I had to move and then got to work quickly and efficiently. They wrapped my TV, couch, and dresser without me even asking and were professional throughout the entire process. Wow! Asked around several places, and their hourly rate is very competitive. Brandon, BJ and Albert came to do the move and were great! They were incredibly professional, very personable and did a terrific job quickly moving things out of our apartment in Manhattan and delivering it to Southampton. And this was no easy move, as I had them move two full size arcade machines (a Ms. Pac-Man and a MAME machine), each of with are over 300 pounds and quite large. They even got it into my house and down some narrow stairs without issue. Customer service was great as well and got insurance on short notice to come into our apartment. This was a relatively small move, but it involved going down 4 flights of stairs and then up 6 - with no elevator, unfortunately. My move with Four A's Movers was all-around amazing - quick, easy, painless! I hired Four A's in October for an end-of-the-month move from my apartment in Manhattan to a walk-up in Union City, New Jersey. Even including the tolls and half hour fee for a trip to New Jersey, the price quoted to me was very reasonable (and MUCH better than the prices quoted by competing companies). Importantly, the price quoted was what I paid at the end - no more, no less. On the day of the move, Nick and BJ were professional and terrific. They got stuck in some traffic on the way to pick up my things, but they kept me informed by phone and only charged from the time they arrived at my old apartment. I asked them to wrap my furniture in plastic instead of using furniture pads, and they accomodated this request, no problem. They moved everything super-quickly -- the whole move was done in exactly 2 hours. (I had a studio's worth of things, approximately.) Nothing was lost or damaged. All in all, GREAT!!! One of my family members has a move coming up soon, and I'm hoping to use Four A's again. read more
