We live in the area and have gone to the Last Straw many times. The service is consistently friendly. Lately, though, the food is not great. Like, terrible. Not sure if there's a new chef at the helm but last week the fish and chips were bad causing gastro issues for all of us and tonight the pizza was literally inedible. We want to support this local business but there are so many other places to go with much better fare. They truly should be embarrassed. We won't be giving them another chance. read more

My wife and I have ordered from this restaurant many times through Skip the Dishes. The food is always very good, especially for take out / delivery. In the last month we have both enjoyed their steak sandwich 3 times. Each time our steaks are done a perfect med rare with a good portion of sautéed mushrooms. The steak has so much flavor. Our sides are also generous portions. The consistency of quality with which these meals arrive at our door is impressive. Just about everything is decent-to-good (food, service) for a neighbourhood pub. Except one major factor which completely snubs an important demographic for the area: it is not even slightly family-friendly. They need to rip out the VLTs and prioritize families over casual gamblers. read more

Been frequenting since moving to area in 2016. Good food and good selection on menu. Prices are fair. Staff are friendly. To bad they couldn't change their entrance to separate VTL machines. Stopped in for lunch, Server took our order, brought out food and never returned to table, water empty, beer empty. Ordered spicy chicken wrap, cooked chicken breast with lettuce and tomato drowned in sriracha, not really tasty and made worse because no server to refill drinks. Fries were terrible, gravy bland. My friend had the beef dip, said it was so dry he couldn't eat it, same bad fries and bland gravy. Sorry, I eat in pubs a lot, this one is near the bottom. Beer wasn't very cold either. The Last Straw Ale House. Well, that's quite a mouthful. Herein referred to simply as 'Tuscany Pub,' which is what I know it as among my friends. Having a couple of friends who live in Tuscany, there isn't much else to choose from if you don't want to venture far from home. I suppose that's why it's a somewhat good pub to go to. I mean, the food isn't really that great. I tried the "Straw Burger" with mushrooms, bacon and cheese, but I was sad to find that my mushrooms were' cooked through and the bacon was very cold. The bun itself was a little crunchy too. Needless to say, I didn't finish it all. Not only that, but I think that, since they're the only pub close by, they may overcharge you. I mean, a bottle of Jackson Triggs Merlot for $46? Talk about a 100% mark-up. And almost $14 for a chicken sandwich. Perhaps I'll just stick with my beer at the Tuscany Pub. I know the locals of Tuscany don't have much to choose from, so Tuscany Pub really is a locals place. I'd probably go there lots too if I had nowhere else to visit. Poor people of Tuscany... I was surprised by the other reviews. I think they've upped their game since then: my wife and I go to this pub fairly regularly and always enjoy our time. I have discovered their soups are excellent, and always order a bowl of their soup to go along with a sandwich or burger. The food has always been top-notch. The ambiance is warm and friendly, and the servers always polite and helpful. There are enough TVs around, so if you want to catch whatever game is on, you've got lots of opportunity. I recommend the place if you find yourself hungry and thirsty in Tuscany. Try their soup! read more

Couldn't agree more with the first review. The best thing this pub has going for it is that it's close by for locals. Otherwise it's just so-so. Could and should be so much better. Honestly just a really down to earth local pub. No bells or whistles but good food and a good atmosphere. Staff is always very nice.

Stopped by today for a bite, figured this would be a nice place to get a snack and for sure a couple of drinks. It was 4pm and although not quite dinner time I did not see anyone eating. Just... drinking and it was not busy at all. Not a bad interior. The patio we found to be OK and then moved inside due to rain. Ordered some Rangoons (oriental style fried dumplings with a 'spicy' (not so much) jalapeno filling. They were ok, would not get them again. They have a special list of about 6 appies you can get 3-6pm daily but the prices are not that special, still high averaging $12 for a small plate of appetizer food. Pints of Canadian and Coors Lite were on special. The beer was cold, muy importante! Saturday is steak night where you can save $2.50 on your 8oz steak meal - this looked tempting at first and then we just left, uninterested due to what we had already had and the lack of everyone else eating. We will come back perhaps to try something else (Wing Nite Wed!) but today just was not the day. Service was good, attentive. They needed to change the Pearl Jam CD though - that was getting old! read more

As a neighborhood pub this place is great. Lots if variety in both food and drink. I frequent this place 2 to 3 times a week for a glass of wine and the daily specials. The service staff are great and they get to know the regulars. Food is good and serving sizes are large. Sometimes consistency is an issue. It is a pub so expect pub decor. Great local pub. Excellent pub food. The staff is terrific. The sun patio is the place to be which is protected by a glass panel wind barrier. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a casual. They now have heaters on the patio as well as a big screen TV for sports !!!! I've read some of the negative reviews by Oriana and LD and they are nonsense IMO. If you are looking for Fine French Cuisine go some place else. read more

Service and food steadily declined in last 5 years. Tried to reserve a table for 12 for a farewell for someone moving away. Was told no because it was wing night. It was only the convenience of location that we considered going there at all because we have found pubs in the neighbouring areas that have better food and friendlier staff. And, no surprise we did find one of those neighbourhood pubs willing to reserve us a table even though it was Wed. This WAS the last straw.... farewell. read more

The Final Straw - To echo the sentiments of the former reviewers. Yes, there is nothing else in the area, so this suffices as the neighborhood pub. That, however, doesn't justify everything that's wrong with Last Straw. Unfortunately, the food is mediocre, prices are high, & ambiance & service a little lacking. With your local watering hole, you go mainly because it's within stumbling distance of your abode. You're better off, however, to buck up for a cab and venture out of this "hood" and find a not so local haunt to hunker down in. read more

Pub is outdated, rundown. Desperate need of a facelift. Patio is ok and I would spend more time out there, but the tables and chairs are horrible. Cheapest plastic stuff you get at walmart. At least put in some effort if you want to bring this place to a better level. Food is just OK for a pub. Don't expect amazing food here, but it would be much better if they actually used fresh ingredients instead of most stuff being frozen. They have a stranglehold on the market because there is no real competition in close proximity and this really shows in the lack of attention and bad service. read more

I have been going to this pub occasionally for years. In the past I have been disappointed with the food and level of service. I have been there twice in the last month for food and drinks. Meh is about right. I live in Scenic Acres and my boyfriend in Tuscany and so we figured we'd better try it at some point because it's so close to home! The pub itself was kind of lacking atmosphere; it was empty, quiet not-great music (it was Rhianna followed by some obscure music) and dark. They have posters everywhere advertising beers like Kronenbourg and Boddingtons, but they don't actually serve them. That was weird and kind of disappointing. Our server was okay, good but very basic, non-conversational. Not your typical pub waitress. Very quiet. But she got the job done. I had the chorizo mac and cheese with casesar salad and it was very bland; the salad was kind of wilty and the dressing was only okay. My boyfriend had the beef dip with fries and he seemed to like it. The fries were REALLY salty. Overall it was a semi-disappointing experience. I don't think i'll be back to eat. I'd consider going back to drink, if for no other reason than it's close to home and the drinks are average priced. By the way, all the clientele save for us were middle aged couples. Last Straw has been in Tuscany since around 2002. Food used to be quite good back then but has suffered in quality and consistency over the years due to staffing changes. This of course is plays out poorly in cost for customers. I recall going in for 2 lbs of wings and 3 pints of domestic and was charged almost 60.00 For that price I could've gone to the Sobeys across the parking lot, bought a whole chicken. Add a six pack from the Sobeys liquor store and I could enjoy the comforts of my own home with an extra 25$ in my pocket. Staff is generally pleasant but it felt as if you had to become a regular to feel welcome. The Last Straw has all the makings of a great bar but falls shy in many aspects. It can't decide if it is a neighborhood watering hole, a sports bar, or a restaurant. In spite of all this, the Last Straw remains open for business. It's a mystery. read more

Speaking of special the owner will not allow you to order daily special unless you buy a drink! Wow. Do not begrudge an owner making a profit but this reeks of greed. No sense of community when you have to separate drinkers from non drinkers in a group of friends.10 friends eating and 2 not allowed because they do not feel like drinking!
