Were wonderful to work with. Lasting Touch had my father's headstone done exactly as requested and installed in time for his interment.

They worked with the family, helping us with ideas, but giving the family time to work thru and finalize our design for the headstone.

From the beginning to the end of the process, we were treated with respect and compassion. Everyone there was wonderful but I have to single out Tiffany Marone, the funeral director who was there 24/7 for us no matter how busy she was. My phone calls and emails were returned promptly and she even went out of her way, coming in early (a couple times) to scan family pictures for us to use at Mom's Celebration of Life (that we had at another location). We ended up buying 5 Urns online and Tiffany took the time to transfer the ashes into them so we wouldn't have to handle them. I would definitely recommend Mills and Mills for your loved ones. I hope we don't need to use them again for a long time but when we do, we will go here. Can't say enough good things about them, would give them 10 stars if I could.

She called multiple times and each time was promised that the cremation would occur the next day, only to hear noting. Drawing out the process prolonged her trauma and grief unnecessarily.

I appreciated their flexibility and understanding for the varied needs of families experiencing the loss of a loved one. I noticed that the graves displayed personal possessions meaningful to the family of the deceased. These items reflected the family's cultural and religious values which indicated the empathy and concern of the staff. The display of toys on the graves of the children was poignant and arranged with love. At the time of my husband's death I specifically asked permission to have a garden flag of his university placed close to his grave marker because it was meaningful to both of us. My request was honored without questions and with a depth of understanding that I appreciated. My concern is that a change in the cemetery was obvious when I visited my husband's grave recently. The flag was gone on his grave and most of the personal possessions on other graves were removed including the toys and keepsakes on the children's graves. In comparison to my initial impression of the cemetery the current appearance is uniform and sterile. After speaking to the manager I learned that they have decided to enforce a list of rules because some visitors felt that the personal possessions looked "unseemly." My concern is that there was a lack of communication with the families whose loved ones are buried at Woodlawn. In this age of technology it is likely that email addresses would provide a way to communicate this policy change in a thoughtful and caring manner. Facebook is not a helpful alternative since not everyone is on it. Whatever happened to your practice of empathy and tolerance?

Ron Larson was helping my family plan final arrangements for a departed family member. The kids were talking about how much our dearly departed loved his children. Ron chimes in that not all fathers love their children and tells us in graphic detail about a video he saw online from a girl who was born although her mother had tried to abort her. WTF? Was I in the twilight zone? He ignoried everyones discomfort and described how it had failed and what it caused. I am sure his coworkers are good funeral directors and to Ron's credit he didn't hard sell us, the cremation was done on time, but he was disturbing and told too many personal uncomfortable stories. (another about about a neighbor girl whose alcoholic father used to beat her and how later she drowned in her families jacuzzi). This review is mine alone. The other family members for some reason accepted that "things in small towns are done differently", they had other things to think about, but I had never had an experience like this before.

They picked her up the same day as she passed from the hospital. Once they had her, they took hand prints and footprints. We were able to take those home and include them in her memory box. The staff at Funeral Alternatives provided their services for our infant daughter for free and this was incredibly meaningful after our loss.
