The staff is hospitable, friendly, and knowledgeable. There was an assortment of edibles, flowers, oils, beverages, branded merch, and even a topical balm. They even had a .75g dime bag. The novelty of it all was quite interesting. What I liked most was that there was an adult shopping experience, not like the neon signed, comically named places, targeting a younger crowd. This little outpost still offers the classic Polanco Bros color palette complemented by softer lighting, wooden floors, and well-staged products. Well done, gents. Well done. I felt awful because I meant to wake up earlier so they wouldn't have to go out in the heat. A very nice guy came by like 20 minutes later with my order. I asked him if I could tip over cash app or Venmo because I didn't have any cash and you couldn't tip on the site. He absolutely refused, I insisted, and he told me that he wasn't even the delivery guy. He said that they gave the delivery fairies a couple days off because it was so hot. I'm not sure if he was the manager or what, he had a lot of tattoos up and down his arms and was white or light skinned (the lighting is horrible in my hallway), but he was so sweet! I have a broken ankle right now but once I can get out of the house I am showing up there and tossing a 20 in the tip jar. I've lived in Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and NY. The employee working behind the counter questioned my 26-year-old boyfriend's ID, immediately concluded it was fake, and called the police without involving a manager or taking any reasonable steps to verify the identification first. Rather than handling the situation professionally, the employee escalated it unnecessarily. When the responding officers confirmed that his ID was completely valid, the employee's response was, "So you're not going to do anything?" Even after being proven wrong, she still appeared determined to have a paying customer arrested. That was honestly the most shocking part of the entire experience. Mistakes can happen, especially with different forms of identification such as enhanced driver's licenses. However, there is a significant difference between asking questions or involving a manager and immediately calling law enforcement while falsely accusing a customer of using a fake ID. He was treated like a criminal over a legitimate ID, and it was embarrassing, unnecessary, and completely avoidable. This experience reflects a serious lack of training, professionalism, and customer service. There are too many dispensaries with knowledgeable, respectful staff to tolerate being treated this way. We will be taking our business elsewhere, and I will no longer be recommending The Flowery to friends or family.
