Sept. 2-3,2023 We had a lot of fun looking at all the beautiful works and meeting the artisans behind it all. They also had painting classes and art demo's. There was plenty of food stalls to pick and eat in the nearby park. They also had many musicians scattered around the streets playing really nice music!

Started on a shoestring, Erico has turned this facility into the "To Go" place for original Theater, Music and Art. His productions are often sold out and his gallery offerings draw large crowds. Inspiration Studios also hosts "Make and Takes" and workshops. Studio space for artists and musicians and even magicians is available in the renovated upstairs. Major groups have shown their art here i.e. Wisconsin Visual Artists, League of Milwaukee Artists and The Rogues Artists Group. OFA is a yearly event that takes place at the lovely Fowler Park in Oconomowoc, WI. It features…read morenumerous artists (local and out of towners) selling their arts and crafts. They feature such mediums as : ceramics, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, woodwork, and sculpture. They offer a shuttle for off-site parking, which is a very convienent way to come and walk around, enjoy the fest, and not have to worry about walking 'all the way back to the car.' They also offer entertainment for the kids, like a youth stage, playgrounds, entertainers, and petting zoos. Oconomowoc Festival of the Arts has been around for 40+ years and offers art from more than 130 artists! It's worth your while to check out - spend a day in beautiful Oconomowoc and support a good cause while you're at it. As usual the production was done wonderfully, with the actors giving us laughs as well as suspense in this great Agatha Christie mystery. The stage set is wonderfully interesting and visually exciting. Very well done. But today I was able to watch the show with subtitles, which is incredibly helpful for someone like me who wears hearing aids, but I still need a little help in live performances. Milwaukee Rep here offers the closed captioning of the shows, all in your own phone. If you prefer, you may also borrow a tablet for this service. By using the app GalaPro on your phone, you can have all the words in front of you without getting in the way of the actors or your seat neighbors. We were using our own phones, but borrowed a seat holder which kept the words in front of us but not in the way. Thank you, Milwaukee Rep for regularly updating your accessibility options. This new one is so helpful!

Nice, big, open building. Smallish medium sized theater with a good incline and good view of the…read morestage throughout. The view from the very back row (not on the balcony, but main floor) was still good and very visible. We were on the front row, which is usually not my preference, and I would say row 3 and back would be much better. That said, the first row (DD, on stage left) was still not uncomfortable. I had a great view of the stage and not at all uncomfortable during the show, and did not have to crane my neck.

We came to the planetarium for a "Salsa Under the Starts" event which we learned about via the…read morePlanetarium e-newsletter. It was a free event open to the public. Programming at the Planetarium tends to be great for people of all ages including children. The event was well attended, and two free planetarium shows were offered. The stargazing show was about 30 mins and very informative. We both learned something new about the night sky and left excited to try to spot some new constellations on our next camping trip up north. After the stargazing show, we were able to head up to the rooftop of the Planetarium to check out Jupiter and Saturn on the mega-telescope. Seeing the planets was a treat and worth the wait - there were a lot of students there for extra credit, so we had to wait maybe 30 mins to be able to scope out both planets. There is a suggested donation of $5 when you visit and they also ask for you to "sign-in" so they can track where visitors come in from, etc. It was a worthwhile visit. Something off the beaten path, low-key and educational.

I do now realize that I will never survive if I have to use the stars as reference points. I needed to use Siri to give me directions to the Planetarium and I still got lost. The stars sure were beautiful though and make we want to travel to Alaska so I can see the Northern Lights. I did find a few contellations though and thought the presentatin was fun and informative.

This was my first time at the Lakefront Festival of the Arts but it certainly won't be my last! It…read morewas a perfect day to walk through the many tents lined up along the lakefront next to the MAM and I was pleasantly surprised by the vast selection of different artists from across the country and the very different styles /pieces available for purchase. Having the opportunity to talk with the artists and learn about their process is an extra special advantage to attending such an event. There is a seating area where food and beverage can also be purchased. Included with the Lakefront Festival of the Arts is admission into the Milwaukee Art Museum as well. If you happen to be a MAM member, the price is greatly discounted making this a must see event for the weekend! We did end up purchasing multiple items and I'm already looking forward to seeing what unique items I'll find next year!
