I now consider myself a vintage patient here! Dr. Ian Leopold is hands down the best dentist I…read morehave ever had! I originally saw his father, and Dr. Ian has inherited all the skills and patience that his father had. I also go in regularly for dental hygiene with Maria, and am just as happy with her work to keep my teeth looking and feeling healthy! Maria works quickly and I always walk away feeling like I have a new set of teeth. The office is in a beautifully restored Craftsman style house near Highway 101 and also close to Poly. It is clean, calm and relaxing. The front office staff is also attentive and patient. They can navigate the intricacies of billing and scheduling with cheer and ease. Dr. Ian also works on Saturdays, and they can fit you in should you have a dental emergency. They can also recommend specialists in the area if you need further work like dental surgery. The only downside for me is that they are out of my dental insurance provider, but I still get partial reimbursement. I would never go anywhere else because the quality of the work here is worth paying a bit extra for!

Dr. Yoon is literally wonderful!…read more She is probably the best dentist I have ever experienced. One thing I absolutely love about Dr. Yoon: She laughs easily and frequently, while expertly and gently taking care of whatever the problem is. How nice it is to have people laughing on both sides of you when you're having dental work! Dr. Yoon is my dentist.

I explained that my wife is terribly dental phobic, and also, we needed a dentist who'd be welcoming of our family, part of the LGBTQ community. The immediate response was "no problem." So we made an appointment for my wife's broken crown. If there is a perfect dentist, Dr. Yoon is it! She has a bubbly personality that makes you feel at ease. She has a good sense of humor, too. She was very gentle during the hardest parts, like numbing her mouth and drilling. I liked that she kept telling us what she was going to do next, and about how long that would last. All of those things made this visit much less anxiety-producing for my wife. Her dental assistant was also very nice and accommodated my need to remain with my wife. They both treated my wife with the utmost respect, and yet gave her the extra TLC she needed. I never sensed that they were in a hurry to get to the next patient. They took good care of my wife, and that's all that mattered. The front office staff are also super nice, helping us navigate insurance forms and medical paperwork with a smile. We feel very much welcome here, not just as a paying customer, but extended members of the family. I will be booking my next regular visit with Dr. Yoon, and this will be our family dentist from now on!

I appreciate that the office books clients for their appointment time and doesn't stack patients as many others I had experienced before discovering Dr Wong. We had recently found out about digital crowns through an experience my husband had in Eugene, Oregon and struggled to find a doctor in our area who is capable of producing these kinds of crowns. We landed on Dr. Wong in San Luis Obispo. He has all the latest technology & is able to create the crown in the office in under two. So what would normally take 2 to 3 visits using a traditional crown, takes just a few hours with Dr. Wong. No dentist I have ever been to has been able to completely numb my mouth. Dr. Wong numbed it on the first try, which was a huge relief to me. I felt absolutely no pain or discomfort during this procedure. His office staff and assistants are extremely helpful and very friendly. He is a bit pricey. He is out of network so we did not get the full benefits of our dental insurance, but he is definitely worth the price.

However, I have been pleasantly surprised as Dr. Ng and his staff have provided me with outstanding service, even during COVID-19. I have been here for routine check-ups, cleanings, and x-rays, and also for fillings and more extensive work. All of it has been of the highest caliber and I am very pleased. I highly recommend Dr. Ng and his practice! I have a few crowns that need to be replaced and will be going back to Dr. Ng to have them done. He uses the best materials for crowns, which is very important - especially for someone like me who has bruxism and grinds my teeth at night. Dr. Ng also made a new nightguard for me that is much more comfortable and stays in my mouth. The dental hygienists are wonderful, friendly, and thorough. I have had a few of them, and all of them are outstanding. When I leave after having my teeth cleaned, they feel and look amazing. I am very pleased with this dental practice!

I am still in pain months after my work and need to get my tooth redone. I tried to reach out to the office and never got a call back. Granted, I only called once, but still, no empathy for my pain was given. I am going to a different dentist for the rework. Someone who has more experience on tooth fractures and is able to admit if they can not do a precise job without leaving exposed dentin on the back side of my tooth. He was very kind at first, but I believe this was a big money job and he was just eager to cash out rather then make sure that he could perform a more than sufficient job for his patient. After all, this is my front tooth! It is a big deal and I am going to have to live the rest of my life with this "new" tooth. I want someone who understands that the tooth should be as close to perfection as possible, not all jagged and rough and painful.

At first, I overlooked a lot of things that my gut was telling me. One instance, I inquired about something different from what I came in for, the dentist did work on it right away to my surprise, and of course deducted the cost from my prepaid funds. There were billing errors that happened more than once, being overcharged, even when they say you get a discount. Getting my refund took time because of "corporate" office approval wait. Then I get charged for "periodontal" work $184 when I received basic cleaning - I know full well the difference. I specifically told them that I only want cleaning. With my last appointment I called first to make sure, again she said $184, and I said I want cleaning only then qouted $131. Ok so I go in for basic cleaning, upon being seated, the hygienist said that I'm due for an Xray. I told her I'd rather not at this time as I had extensive work done in their office already. She said my last xray was a year ago. I said it's not necessary, then she calls in the new dentist whom I never met before, and I felt ganged up on both convincing me. I said I'm willing to do it next time or in a year. I asked if they will do cleaning without Xray for now, again they insisted with no regard to what I wanted. So I stood up and quickly walked away. The way they made me feel was awful. This was the final straw for me. I definitely relate to what others are saying about Broad St Smiles. It's a corporate dentistry in which the main focus is to generate revenue as much as possible rather than genuine patient care. Yes, BUYER BEWARE!

Dr. Lapidus cares about his patients!…read more Recently relocated to SLO so we had to find a new dentist. I found Dr. Lapidus on Yelp and made an appointment since they took my insurance. The entire staff is friendly and professional. Have had a few repeat visits over the past few months since I had been putting off some much needed dental work. Even though I am a new patient, the staff treats me like I have been a patient for years. Dr. Lapidus takes his time with his patients and explains in detail what needs to be done and what his recommendations are. He is caring and compassionate and has a great sense of humor which puts his patients at ease. So happy that I found Dr. Lapidus on Yelp. I look forward to a long-term relationship with his office for all my dental needs!

Dr. Lapidus replaced it with a retainer that did not protect my teeth at night. I was treated for acid reflex by an gastrologist that my previous dentist recommended, apparently Dr Lapidus never read my previous records and only after 5 years when a hygiengist told him my enamel was thin he told me to go to an othodentist. Never explaining what the plan was. Thank God I never went back to him and found a knowledgeable dentist that is now helping me. My enamel damage is very bad and I will need a lot of dental work to get me back to normal (or as normal as possible) it will cost a VERY, VERRY large amount of work and money. So thanks to his not caring able my teeth in 5 plus years I would NEVER recommend this man.
