It bothers me to write such a bad review, especially since I used this launderette once before and was pleased with the service. However, today was just terrible and I will never go back again. Here's the story: I called the launderette ahead of time as I needed to wash one large item (i.e. big washing machine, and over an hour to dry). I was told that as long as I arrived by 3:30 it would be fine as they closed at 5:00. I arrived at 2:30 to be safe and proceeded to wash my item. Despite being happy to pay for the full service, the woman working said she did not have enough time to do it (even though it takes less than a minute to transfer one item to the dryer). So back and forth I went between my flat and the launderette and what should have taken me 10 minutes total, actually took over 2 hours. In addition, despite being open until 5:00, there is a ridiculous sign that says outsiders can't use dryers in the last hour. So basically no human being could possibly wash and dry their laundry in the time frame I was told. On top of this, the woman told me she needed to clean up and leave by 5:00, so I actually had to leave EARLIER than closing time (even though my item was still wet!). Because of this, she refused to give me change for the dryer and I had to go to the kebab place next door to get it. As a paying customer, I expect the store to honour the hours it advertises - I shouldn't be told to come in and then be thrown out in the middle of my laundry service. I definitely shouldn't have to pay over 15 pounds for a wet duvet. For everyone's reference: there are plenty of good launderettes in the area that are much cheaper than this one. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place, as the service has clearly fallen off. read more

The service at this launderette is superb! The staff is very attentive and helpful. I am used to "no-one-there" or very basic service you get at laundromats in the U.S where you put in quarters into a machine and pray the machine works properly. Here, there is always someone there to give you tips about washing and drying. In addition, the self-service is very efficient! You can drop your clothes off in the morning and get it back in a few hours (if it's not busy). This is basically a "one-stop" shop as the location does dry cleaning and alterations. The best part: the American girl who works there who has a lot of energy and positivity! The time flew by talking to her as I was waiting for my clothes to wash and dry. read more

I love this place. I have lived round the corner for twenty years and think I was the most frequent customer they had (I love my clothes!) Whether it's a service wash, sewing repair, alteration or dry cleaning, one shirt or a whole holiday's worth, John takes real pride and care in his work and in looking after your clothes or sheets etc. He goes the extra mile and makes it his business to understand exactly what you want or need (and when) and undertakes to always provide the best possible service. He's someone you're always happy to see; I always wanted to stop for a chat and hang out, and it's a great place if you're spending time using the machines and waiting while you do your wash. I packed light for traveling in many places in Europe. Try to find some place for laundry in London. Read all the good reviews and decide to take a taxi to this place. It's not too far from my hotel tho. It's worth to go there. She is very nice and help out. I never use a commercial washer and dryers before so she did everything for me. Lol. Really nice and clean. Isn't it so much more pleasant to be served by someone who seems to be happy in their job?That's certainly the case here at this local launderette and dry cleaners. The service is friendly, helpful and comes with a smile. Unless they seriously mess something up a dry cleaning business is much the same as another really. So it pays to make your customers feel welcome. It's not the nearest place that does cleaning and alterations to where I live or work but it's on my route and I would rather stop off here than go anywhere else. read more

Is it weird that a trip to the laundromat can be so delightful? Well, thats what it was for me at this place. Was staying nearby on holiday with my partner and needed to do some quick laundry before we moved on to Scotland. John was working and the man was superb. Great customer service, walked us through loading, getting soap and putting in the right change. Noticed that he gave top-notch service to other customers who came in too. Especially with folks who didn't speak English so well. The man is a consummate professional. He then rattled off a list of recommendations for Glasgow restaurants and bars. I dare say we had a great time chatting with him which made the time go by right quick. Can't recommend this place enough for holiday travelers in Clerkenwell who need to get some washing done. read more
