I can't remember her name but there's a young girl who is always there and has been there for years- she's so helpful. She has helped me pick out my plumerias and I swear she is on point with what is a good starter stick. As you can see I now have part of Hawai'i in CA. I highly recommend popping and checking it out supporting local farmers markets.

It was my first time visiting a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised with the farm fresh products and locally made goods. Some vendors have food available like chinese pretzels, Hawaiian chili pepper water, and fresh baked goods. Maui Ono Donuts is also posted up in the parking lot and dishing out their old fashioned cake donuts. I perused some of the vendors and ended up buying a handmade apron made from Hawaiian bark cloth as a gift. I also got some donuts for the road. There's a good variety here if you're in the Kihei area and want to support some local businesses.

Flea Market, South Kihei Maul…read more Fun walking around this small flea market located in the back parking area of Kukui Mall in Kihei. They operate on Saturdays from 8:00a to noon. There's live entertainment, arts and crafts, food, baked goods, and produce... locally made and grown items. I purchased some butter mochi from one of the vendors and we chatted with the business owners sharing with us some tips on places to visit. They mentioned how rare for this side (South Kihei) to get flash floods so the heavy rains that happened yesterday was just a freak incident. Oh, the butter mochi was delicious! We ate it the next day at the airport while waiting for our flight. We also purchased some produce. Everything from avocados, papaya, and mango to carrots, lime, and tomatoes were sold here. Hubby loves papaya and he was excited to find some here. Everyone's so friendly. We also enjoyed the local band... even gave us a shout out "visitors from California." Tim, Harline and Chelsea were great hosts and told interesting stories. It was fun to see, feed, and pet the chicken and the sheep. In our group, the age ranged from 2 to over 50 years old and we all had a great time. We also got to see the sacred wili wili trees, native to Hawaii. The farm has great views of Lahaina and the ocean. It was a unique experience different and interesting and inspiring to hear the vision that Tim and Harline have to restore the Hawaiian "Garden of Eden". Highly recommend if you are looking for a break from the beach and want to hear how you can leave the earth a better place than you found it, a philosophy the Tim and Harline believe in.

Once you get over the sheer beauty of this farms location in launiupoko, which overlooks the Hawaiian waters, you realize you found a real gem. Lahaina family farms covers 69 acres, many of it is yet to be farmed and the goal here is to balance land preservation, organic farming, and education. Everyone has a skill that can be resourceful to this farm for the education is beyond just organic farming. It is Tim's collective decision to change the directions of all Of our lives by responsible land ownership. The farm also has one of the largest gathering of a certain Hawaiian tree that carries a long standing folklore. My limited research tells me that the wood of this tree, similar to balsa wood, was once used by Hawaiian royalty to carve surf boards. Tim's ties with the wwoofers, a world wide organization, provides young people the opportunity to contribute their skills to help themselves, others as well as the farm vision. This gives them a truly great experience on the farm, not to mention the amazing opportunity to be on the beautiful island of Maui. I'm told visitors are welcomed with love and appreciation. Tim and his family ask for nothing in return other than a few hours a day of work and an open mind to his vision. Lahaina family farms is worth the trip and I hope everyone enjoys their visit as much as I did!!:)
