First time visiting Hawaii -- and Maui. Drove with family to Maui Swap Meet on Saturday. The vendor selection was excellent and diverse. Even picked up two Açaí Bowls -- they were a bit expensive at $15 each (cash only), but totally worth it. Possibly the best Açaí on the island (Maui). Shame the Swap Meet is only open on Saturdays; would've loved to come again. Also, forgot to note down the name of the Açaí shop, but it's all good. We were exploring Maui and we had this on our list of places to check out but I think I would skip this next time. Parking is easy enough, entrance fee is only $1, and there are quite a bit of vendors to browse through. There are some artists and specialty craft booths but I think a lot of the booths just sell mass produced items or just junk. We did check out some of the food stalls but we only ended up getting coffee and the poke near the back. I think if you're into souvenirs and trinkets, this is a great place to go. read more

The Maui swap meet is such a great spot to go to on Saturdays to not only support local businesses but also pick up some special gifts to remember your Maui trip! Everyone is super friendly and helpful, full of the aloha spirit - this swap meet is all outdoors so if you come early you can avoid some of the heat (but not all vendors may be set up yet). For it being hyped as one of the best places, and a must go to swap meet ... I say skip it unless you're in the area. $1admission isn't bad. But I was expecting much larger scale. Someone had compared it to the swap meet in Oahu. This is no way anywhere near as large. There were a few fruit/produce vendors. Got some good deals there. It wasn't crowded at 8 am. Also, not a ton of food vendors/trucks. Lots of the same things (souvenirs and such) you can get probably cheaper somewhere else. I wouldn't make a special trip here. read more

We love visiting this swap meet when we are in the area. As I reviewed three years ago, there is still alot of junk and mass made stuff, but there are some artists too and well worth your time if you're looking for something special. This year I stopped in Joy's booth to look at her beautiful jewelry made Tagua Palm Nuts also known as Vegetable Ivory. I bought one of her lovely necklaces. There are also food booths and trucks. We were on Maui on a Saturday morning -- so we just had to stop by the Maui Swap Meet. Admission is 75 cents and there's tons of free parking! When we put "Maui Swap Meet" in our GPS, it took us to the wrong spot and we did have to drive around a bit until we saw some signs. With that, it's located at the University of Hawaii Maui College lot off of Kahului Beach Road, across Wahinepio Road from the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. Iced coffee in hand, we had about an hour and a half to kill and we honestly didn't have the time that we would've liked to really look around. We probably did about half of the market in the leisurely speed we prefer shopping and then did a quick walk through the rest of the market. The vendors here are really friendly and you can find some really cool things too. We ended up grabbing some cheap (but cute) sunglasses since I had forgotten to pack a pair and a magnet made by a local artist. There's lots of typical souvenirs but also some really unique and beautiful things made by local artisans. I had my eye on a Hawaiian quilt and a beautiful shell and pearl necklace -- there really is so much to discover. read more

I love this swap meet! I entered thinking it would either be a farmers market with produce, or a janky flea market like the one at Alina Stadium on Oahu. Guess what... nether! It's a cool little swap meet with mostly artisan goods. And the prices are reasonable! Note too much duplication both to both either. You can also find good deals in souvenirs. Not a ton but enough. Had great Shave Ice at a very good price at Maui Girls Shave Ice. Oh and it's a large parking lot so no need to stewed about finding parking. This is my second or third visit to the Maui Swap meet. Over two years ago we visited and found some great vendors offering goods, wares, and products, almost all brand new, or hand made, or people starting a new business. That said, just about everyone was happy and friendly. Located in a beautiful setting, a huge college parking lot, not your typical lot, though, you have the tropical air and vegetation all around.... At the same time you're perusing a huge array of items ranging from clothing to carved drift wood and gourds, to toys, signs, and hot sauces, to a very eclectic variety of ready to eat food items. Because that experience was so positive we had to pay them another visit. Everything was still fantastic, maybe even better since Covid-19 isn't such a big deal anymore. Shave ice, spam musubi, bulgogi sushi rolls, banana-chocolate chip bread, and lumpia Shanghai made for great morning snacks and seemed to please the whole family. The one vendor I'm gonna call out here is HiSpice. The variety of hot sauces offered is beyond belief. The flavor profiles are more than pleasing to the palate. Ranging from mild to super hot, I tried just about all of them and learned that this ten-year-old family business was started by a couple brothers, one of whom was a chef and restaurnteur for many years alongside his chemist sibling; what a combination, it works wonderfully! Needless to say I left with a box of different sauces after enjoying the many samples, but even more the visit and awesome conversation with Sai (I'm not sure I'm spelling his name correctly). This place only operates on Saturdays. It'll cost you, and anyone else over 12 in your party, .75 cents to get in, but it's well worth it! You'll save so much on souvenirs and stuff for your visit you should make this a priority. I'll be back! read more

Not as many produce stalls as I expected, maybe a handful? Of note were some huge avocados, the usual apple bananas, and mango varieties, but not many of the more "exotic" tropical fruits (I.e. ice cream beans, mangosteens, egg fruit, etc), though some may be a seasonal thing. Fair number of prepared food stalls/trucks, such as baked goods (some really good breads - not just banana), poke, kimbap, lumpia, popsicles, shave ice, etc. More down to earth and less bougie (and less pricey) than a lot of the food trucks elsewhere on the island. Fair number of crafty goods that make good souvenirs. Less junky stuff as is prevalent @ the Aloha Swap Meet on Oahu. Time spent, hour to an hour and a half at a leisurely pace. Lots of vendors I think the best time to come here is when they open which is at 7am specially if you want to buy fresh produce, they do sold out fast and it gets really hot. Always a good time here. It's hot, bring sunglasses, hats and umbrellas to keep cooler. The fruits and vegetables here are top notch and way cheaper than the grocery stores. Try and head here at the beginning of your stay here in Maui. There is a new stand, young biologist and super nice who sells his own art, coloring info books, croc charms and other cool stuff. Name is Che Frausto, I bought a tank with his art. It's nice to see young passionate ppl about the environment. The Filipino stand with spam musubi is our favorite and we also hit it. We noticed a new jam and bread stand called. The guava bread and guava drink is so good and the lady at the stand is so nice. We samples and got their banana and guava bread. I highly recommend Maui Swap Meet. We had an afternoon flight so took an Uber there quite costly but I'm glad we did. Nice selection of artisanal, imported goods and food. Some artists are working on their craft there so that's interesting to see. Everyone was very nice. It's clean and well laid out. Cost .75cents for entry is a no brainer. There is some shade, portable restrooms which I did not use so can't comment. No poochies allowed except service which I'm good with as it was a bit crowded so hard for poochies to walk about comfortably. My Saturday morning ritual while I'm on the island is to shop at the Swap Meet. A classic gathering of locals promoting there aloha goods to the world plus fruits & vegetable farmers peddling fresh organic products. I enjoy the cheap junk from China being sold but it's the vibe of wandering around and searching for just one item that reflects the aloha spirit I wanna bring home. However I gotta give a shout out to one vendor in particular and that's JEFF'S JAM's & JELLY's cause he's da bomb for all things jelly & jams but it's his Kabli Marinade sauce for grilling that's outstanding. I just purchased 6 bottles to be shipped out today. You grab some Jeff's sauce & few pounds short ribs and you'll find your about to have mind alternating experience of delicious chow. This is my first time visiting the Maui swap meet. It's open every Saturday, and admission prices $.75. Parking is free and ample. Several vendors have touristy like items labeled with "Maui", and several jewelry vendors. A lot of the vendors are local and are artists, including wood cutters, local soap makers, and jewelry makers. They also had locally screened T-shirts, as well as bags and purses. In the back of the swap meet, there's a few food trucks with tacos, shave ice, and smoothies. The Maui swap meet is definitely a lot smaller than the Aloha Stadium swap meet in Honolulu, but I was able to find some carved gourds, which were pretty interesting. A swap meet with lots of variety! I had contacted one of my favorite jewelry artists to see where I could find her work, and she said I could meet up with a vendor who would be showing her items here. There was plenty of parking in the UH Maui lot--some even providing shade in the back. The entry fee was 75 cents per person at the main gate. My first stop was to pick out some gorgeous glass jewelry--and I'm glad I went there to start! I learned that even though the swap meet is open until 1:00, some of the vendors start heading out as early as 11:30. Even so, we ended up staying until just before closing time, as there were so many tents to explore. We came away with artwork, hats, a knife, jewelry, and some bags. Some of the shops offered big discounts off their sticker prices for the swap meet. We also had a break with some haupia shave ice. Yum! Be sure to bring your hat and some sun screen. When you are outside the shop tents, there aren't many other places to sit to keep you out of the sun. It's also a good idea to bring your own bags--unless you want to buy some from one of the shops there! read more

If you have a couple weeks in Maui I recommend visiting the Swap Meet at the college. You can get anything from veggies and fruit, to local art, to yummy snacks, plus a whole lot more. I would say it takes about 90 minutes to move through at a slow to moderate pace taking it all in. If you are getting fruits and vegetables I would recommend getting there early and bring some of your own bags. Take a load to the car and then enjoy the rest of the swap meet.
