This is a great stop to make on your trip to Maui! Whether you want to buy fresh local organic produce and other wonderful food products or just take a great tram type guided tour of a working farm. This time we just wanted nice local papaya but have done the tour previously. The tour is quite interesting for all ages learning about coconuts and other local plants and produce Some arts and crafts too. The large shop has fantastic produce, historical displays, and packaged products from around the whole state like the honey we love to buy from Big island Bees when in the island of Hawaii. There also wonderful gardens and ponds with lots of fun ducks that are quite friendly. Kids love this!!!! There's also great coffee and ice cream stands etc. Pretty much something for everyone. This is a great local business! Such fresh produce and such a good selection! We especailly loved their Strawberry Papayas (they grow them and supply to all the stores). Amazing place to stop for a meal or snack. I was between breakfast and lunch so grabbed some freshly cut pineapple (definitely much sweeter and less acidic than the pineapple in the continental US), a Frosted Mermaid ube cookie, and a Hula cookie ice cream sandwich - the coffee flavor. All 3 were excellent! The ube cookie was soft yet crunchy with the white chocolate chips and around the edges. The ice cream sandwich was super delightful. They come in various flavors. Service was friendly! There is plenty of parking here. The market is clean and chic. read more

Definitely a nice place to stop to pick up lunch for a picnic, wander around to the pond, buy fish food to feed the koi. Staff are laid back and there's no pressure to buy anything. We purchased sandwiches, salad and teas to go. We then wandered to the back where a large pond sat filled with fish and duck. There are some nice Instagram worthy photos and it's a relaxing jaunt around the property. You could have purchased food to feed ducks and fish but decided not to. The cashier line was quite long. The ladies work a little slower but it's okay we are on Hawaiian time. This is a great place to pick up local souvenirs and just walk the grounds. read more

KUMU FARMS is a market located in MAUI TROPICAL PLANTATION. It's the first thing you'll see when you drive into the plantation, park your car on the large free parking lot, and getting out of your car. There is a cafe for quick coffee orders outside and to the side of the market and a large manicured garden to the rear. This market is a great place to buy souvenirs for yourself and for those waiting for you back home. Large variety with a wide price range. There's a restaurant at the back, separate from the market. But if you're tired from your day's excursions and activities, you can always grab a quick bite from their produce and fridge sections. The workers are so nice and friendly and helpful too! By the way, this is probably the largest collection of local coffees and teas I've seen on the island. read more

Wonderful place to stop by while in Maui. This plantation is beautiful, full of history and fun activities. You can take a tour of the plantation, do zip lining, have coffee at the coffee shop or lunch at the restaurant. We absolutely loved our visit here. They sell variety of gift items, hot sauces, jams, honey, Maui coffee, fresh produce and fruits, the pineapple here was so sweet and delicious. I got lots of fruits to snack on all week. I also purchased cute gifts to take back to my family and friends. We didn't do zip lining or the tour but we enjoyed the most delicious lunch and cocktails at Cafe O'lei I highly recommend a visit to Kumu Farms. Located at Maui Tropical Plantation, we came to have lunch at Café O Lei and stopped by the Kumu farms store located at the entrance. Wow, they have so much fresh organic produce at reasonable prices! At first glance, I thought they looked touristy and overpriced type of store. There are some expensive items but the produce were reasonable priced and guaranteed fresh and organic. The best part is : they give 20% off kama'aina! That makes it really worth it!!! read more

Loved that Star Fruit were only $1 each. I saw them go as high as $4 each during our stay on Maui. Kumu Farms is located on the Maui Tropical Plantation. It's too cute of a set up to not walk in. They sell local and organic produce at reasonable prices. Cash is preferred but they will honor plastic if your purchase exceeds $15. Really cool that they sell hot sauces and pesto sauces that were made locally. They also have a cold room where they store fresh coconuts and other fruits. Stop by and purchase fresh fruits and vegetables that are a fraction of the prices you would pay at the grocery stores. read more

This review is strictly for the tram ride which is a complete ripoff. We paid $65 for 2 adults and 1 child. The Tram ride is marketed as a 1 hour ride, I could hike the entire distance in 5 min. It's about a half mile loop. The whole thing was 40 minutes and that was with a 25 min coconut opening demonstration. The other 15 min was driving in the tram at 2 miles an hour looking at basically nothing. If you come to this place, enjoy a nice cold beverage and check out the garden. The rest is not worth it. Kumu Farms is a small little shack like store that sells fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, found on Maui Tropical Plantation. When my husband and I arrived, we were thinking that this little produce stand would have very overly priced fruit but we were wrong (and a good thing that we checked it out anyway, despite judging it before experiencing it). While we were there, we ended up picking a small Maui pineapple for $3. During our time on the island, we saw that Maui gold pineapples were $1.40-$1.90 per pound and all of the pineapples in the market were at least 5 lbs and up, which makes for a pricey fruit. So we figured we would just do without. But with a small pineapple about 2 lbs or so, going for $3 here, definitely a good buy. There was also a really good deal on a box of 1 dozen papayas for only $10, but with the 2 of us and also towards the end of our vacation on Maui, we were not able to buy it. Anyways, after picking our pineapple and paying at the cash register (credit cards are accepted), we were offered a paper bag from the woman behind the register. She told me that she only had these paper bags that were from other businesses (Macy's, Ross, etc). But we declined and placed the pineapple in our bag and headed back to our car. Later that evening, my husband cut into the pineapple and took care of all the chopping and preparing (what are husbands for?) and then took our first bite. It was sweet and just perfectly ripe. Definitely a very juicy and flavorful pineapple and can see why people go crazy over the Maui gold pineapples here and want to take them back home with them. But being selfish, we enjoyed our pineapple (which was a lot for 2 people and consumed over 2 days) and decided not to pay a fortune to bring back pineapples to our families (you can purchase ready to go pineapples that are agriculture check point approved from the Maui Tropical Plantation or at the airport if you wish not to be selfish and are feeling spendy and generous for your family and friends back home). read more

The tiny farm stand has grown up and is in a much larger building next door! (You can tell because the old farm stand is still there.) The fruit here was delicious-- papaya and star fruit were excellent. They also sell products from other local businesses-- I particularly liked the shaka pops, which weren't too sweet and very tasty; the macadamia nuts were also good; however, I'd avoid the fruit jellies in the future, as they were pretty boring and tiny for the price (6$ for six tiny jellies the size of starburst). Cute and worth the visit if you're driving from the airport to west Maui, as it's on the way, but not worth a special visit. read more

I discovered the Kumu Farm stand in Mau`i last year when I happen to come upon it after taking my dad on the tram tour at the Maui Tropical Plantation so I guess I should thank my dad for this discovery. I assumed it would be pricey since it's at a tourist attraction but I was pleasantly surprised that it was even more reasonable than the Farmer's Market. The actual farm is just across the channel in Molokai so they get shipments weekly if not more frequently so you are getting fresh produce. Offering an array of fruits especially my favorite, the Non-GMO strawberry papayas, they also have veggies including the Kula Corn. Unfortunately they no longer have local meats for sale but for the strawberry papayas alone, it is worth a stop here. Because I figured it would be packed due to the Broke Da Mouth Fest, I did not stop on the way in from the airport to stock up for my 2 weeks and instead showed up almost a week later. But in Mau`i, I always seem to find the silver lining in the clouds. We shared our bounty with our friends and since they still had another 2 weeks in Mau`i after we left, they stopped by themselves to load up on produce for their last 2 weeks. read more

I really wish we had visited Kumu Farm closer to the beginning of our week on Molokai than the end! I would have bought more food than just 2 Apple bananas (small) & 1 papaya. When I made my purchase the nice lady there also gave me a free Williams (large) banana for a taste comparison & a free Passionfruit (tart/sour) that she told me to eat with the papaya. Breakfast is going to be fruity. The had an over abundance of papaya & had them on sale. Other fruits included limes, Molokai oranges & pineapple. The bunches of fresh carrots were lovely & looked sweet. If you spent $15, they were giving away a free eggplant. I love salads & wish I had been able to get the kale, chard & arugula. They had much more. Their products are all non-GMO. Most are organic but some conventional as well. They also offer body products from Kumu Farms & items from other Hawaiian producers. I bought some Kumu Farms passionfruit & papaya sugar scrub & a small cream too. Those should be perfect for use during winter weather at home. I was told that they could ship me more in the continental US with, I think, a $12 FedEx fee. I also got some loose Vanilla Papaya Leaf Coffee Cherry tea & plan to drink it hot during winter. I was also happy to find they took credit cards with a cell phone reader sine many places on Molokai are cash only. While we were at Kumu Farms, a group of young school children arrived on a field trip. The staff were wonderful showing & discussing all the fruits & vegetables. I was most impressed with everything at Kuma Farms. After shopping at the expensive, small grocer markets available we were surprised how inexpensive things were! Of course, they were all locally grown or produced so there no long distance transportation costs involved. What a great resource for the residents of & visitors to Molokai! read more

This place is truly a diamond in the rough. Where else can you score delicious local papayas for $.50/lb and fresh spring greens for $2.50 a bag on the island? Considering the cost of groceries in Maui can often times be double of what it is from the mainland (unless it's on sale), places like Kumu Farms can be quite a relief on your wallet especially if you can find a way to work your meals around their deals! Aside from fresh greens and certain fruits, they also sell locally raised beef for $6.99/lb. This is part of their daily deals! You can't find those prices at your neighborhood Safeway or Foodland which sell them for almost 3 times more. Why spend more there when you can just buy directly from the source?! Kumu Farms is definitely a place to frequent especially if you're a local trying to manage your food expenses. While you're there, you can also enjoy a brisk walk around the plantation or grab a smoothie from the stand nearby! read more

An amazing place to go to for fresh produce and fruit. They actually are picked daily on the farm for people to enjoy. They have apple bananas there and they are delicious! You can also purchase tons of other things there as well. Very clean and if you do the tour of the farm you can get a discount at the farm stand. Absolutely fantastic...we are in Maui for 2 weeks and I wish that we had found out about this place last week! Everything we bought was delicious - papayas, sweet potatoes (which was super sweet and fragrant, never had anything like it), lemons, corn, egg plant, and kale. Definitely worth the drive from either west maui or south maui. Everything was extremely good and cheaper than buying from conventional supermarket or even town farmer's market. I.e. The organic non-gmo strawberry papayas were $1/lb, which normally sells for $2.5+/lb anywhere else. And because you're buying direct it's super fresh. If you're a tourist, make a day of it, walk around the grounds/take a tram tour, have lunch at mill house (also excellent), and definitely stock up at Kumu farms. You won't regret it! read more

I got my box of 8 Maui pineapples and 9 organic strawberry sunrise papayas on the mainland within 48 hours by FedEx finally after FedEx lost my first shipment. The strawberry papaya's are so delectable and the pineapples are like eating candy! Since I can't be on island at the moment, I brought the islands to Missouri. Mahalo nui loa and aloha nui to Kumu Farms for getting replacement shipments out as soon as they were notified of the original two shipments being lost by the carrier. I plan on sharing them with my neighbors because there's no way I can eat eight pineapples and I want to give them a taste of Hawaii Nei! read more

Now that I don't own a business , I can shop during the week. Again, you're a fool not to shop here. Kumu Farms is just one step from the organic farm which is on property. They will actually harvest corn if it's ready and if you've got a hankering for corn on the cob. In fact, we ate four ears for dinner. No salt. No butter. Just pure corn. Tourist will stop by for a whole coconut with a hole and straw ready to drink. I checked the price. $5.00. Today I bought four Molokai strawberry papaya, two Kau oranges that look like a disease on the skin but delicious on the inside, fresh turmeric (bag for $2.50!!!), apple banana, kale and chard. Total: $21.00 which is about 33% retail and hasn't been sitting on a shelf for very long. read more

It was not that easy to find, but it came highly recommended so it was worth the effort. Because the produce selection and/or quality on grocery stores is poor, this is the go-to spot by default. Most products are organic, selection is pretty good and quality is high. We bought one of the best tasting and sweetest pineapples we ever had. Pricing is not entirely clear and this place is expensive--easily two to three times more than on the mainland. We spent over $30 and really did not buy much. What are you going to do though, if shopping options are limited? read more

Although the products seem to be limited usually, they never disappoint--kale, carrots, eggplant, Williams bananas, apple bananas, papaya, citrus, herbs--whatever they do have in has always been of great quality (not to mention, most are organic/non-GMO). We also have always been happy with the prices--cheaper produce than the grocery stores! They also offer a frequent shopper card that gives you a discount per 10 visits.
