Our family is staying in a house near the marina for vacation. We decided to rent a pontoon boat for the day. Reserving the boat was easy. We were asked to get there 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. I think we should have gotten there more like 20-25 minutes early because fitting for life vests took a little longer than expected. The boat was nice and came with nice life vests, not just the typical orange ones. When we came back in, the dock employees were there ready to help dock the boat. Any day on Holston Lake is a good day. Definitely a do again! read more

The company sent out a survey to their customers. Just the customers that have a boat slip. Those of us who have floating cabins were omitted. We believe it is because we are in contract negotiations. They are purposing a contract that says they will not continue to move our houses unless we pay a 35% increase. However if we get someone else to move them they will not reduce our rent. Three years ago they raised our rent 30% to continue moving our floating cabins. The contract states we move our own cabins. How are you suppose to move your own cabin if you don't live here or are physically unable. A company that is all about customer service,, I don't think so. read more

First off I want to thank Gabby as she got us in the door after debating the 2hr minimum price. It was really slow and not busy at all so they helped us out by giving us a 1hr rental option. The marina has declined over the last few years. the new food options last year and this year and a downgrade from what was there previously. we waited an hour for a cheesesteak last weekend which is unacceptable. Suntex has also started to become hostile toward the floating cabin community, pushing massive price increases year over year while reducing the service. I would suggest taking your money to a different marina in south holston such as lake view marina. read more

The customer service & professionalism has taken a sharp decline. Seems as if the rental boat customers are more important than the slip customers who have supported this marina for several years. The docks & bathrooms are dirty & our rent goes up every year. It's a matter of time before another marina expands & several slips ( including ours ) will become vacant. Laurel used to be the premier marina on South Holston Lake. The only highest rating they now have is their prices. read more

Laurel Marina used to be the premier marina on South Holston Lake. We have been there for almost twenty years. Since Suntex purchased the marina, it has been on a downhill slide. Sadly it has become a last option Marina. Prices continue to increase beyond reasonable while the service decreases. There is no pride in the property. Mowing is sporadic and clean up is minimal. Really such a shame. The greed shown towards the floating cabin community is terrible. read more

I have been a member of the Laurel community for 7 years, and a member of the lake community for much longer. It is truly disheartening to see the direction this marina has went. In a time of prosperity and growth in our region - other marinas have taken advantage and are thriving. This is not the case at Laurel. Corporate has put the dollar over their customers year after year. The facility and services have greatly declined in a time where they expect customers to be paying a premium. There are 5 marinas on the lake and no one has prices higher than Laurel Marina. I would love to be getting the services we are paying such top dollar for, however the services are a great divide from the prices we are expected to pay. Laurel is a laughing stock of the lake community. Once seen as THE place to be- most would rather be anywhere else. read more

Your greed is unprofessional, inappropriate and unacceptable!! Raising our monthly fee, removing a service that has been provided (inadequately!!) really?? This implies GREED!! Your survey repetitively says "provide" yet you as a corporation DO NOT!!! If you continue business operations I see a decline and eventually closure. I am so disappointed to see how much the condition of this property has declined in the last year. The management seems to have stopped caring about basic maintenance. The docks are dangerously slippery if they get wet because they haven't been properly cleaned. Most of the dusk to dawn lights are not working and no one has replaced the bulbs. The road is full of pot holes. And, to make matters even worse, the entire yacht club was excluded from the customer experience survey for no apparent reason. They may say they are all about customer satisfaction but that couldn't be further from the truth. read more

It at one time was a good fair and caring marine. Suntex out of Dallas purchased the marina 5 years ago Services are not to par management is only concerned with profits We have a Yacht club within the marina. We have floating cabins which for the last forty plus years the marina has always moved when the lake is raised and lowered. We have always have had contracts to do this. Our last three year contract was raised 36 percent based upon labor to do this job which was very high based upon the previous years. Now with new contract at hand they no longer want to provide this service and are still requiring and additional increase above what we are already paying for. The club will have to hire an outside service which will cost an additional $40,000 plus dollars a year. They can do this easily because we have no place to go we cannot move our cabins to another marina. They know this and are taking advantage of the situation. Basically price gouging. We just want them to be fair and honorable which they have not shown to be. read more

Oh what a success story!! Our long planned vacation to Lake Holston was almost completely foiled. I received a voicemail 2 days before our arrival from Laurel Marina saying our pontoon boat rental was being cancelled due to emergency maintenance & sorry about the inconvenience. At first I was infuriated as I had reserved the boat for 2 days and that was the main event for our lakehouse vacation! After telling Ken at Laurel our story and that we were really in a bind now that every other Marina had already leased their extra boats, we had no boat to take on the lake. Ken pulled through though and found us a very nice pontoon to rent and basically saved the day(s)! Thank you for excellent service, Ken!!! read more

The food is delicious. The wait is sometimes long, but the food is worth the wait. The menu is mostly short order: sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, wraps and salads. Most items come with choice of fries, tots or onion rings. The workers are nice, pleasant and offer great service. If you're not in a hurry and want great food in a nice relaxing atmosphere at South Holston, try this place. read more
