I had a li bit of a hard time navigating and choosing my pictures. So, I called them and the girl that helped me was very nice. She not only had the patience of walking me thru the site, but also help me in choosing the details on the pictures. At the end, their site had a glitch and she made sure from her side, that I will get the right frame that wasn't a choice to pick while I was doing online. The only thing to complaint, is that the prices are high and when you have more than one kid, I would like to have a discount. Everything else was good. I go to Michigan State University where they came to take photos and told us to bring $15 for 5 poses. I thought that was a great deal and came in. I then realize that was just for the proofs. Fine. Then finally they send me the link and I find out that it's $550 to get these photos. To even get just the digital photos it's $350. They never once mentioned this price and I suppose I should have asked but I never would have dreamed it could've been this expensive! Completely crazy. I am also going to be emailing Michigan State University for them to stop using this company. They are completely ripping off students. I was planning on purchasing these myself until I found out the price. Ridiculous for any student on a budget! If Lauren Studios comes to your campus, skip it. They are not worth the hassle and disappointment. I say we all boycott until they can make reasonable prices for us. read more

Absolutely terrible!! So overpriced with an extremely hard to use website!! I wanted to get pictures taken two years in a row (once for BS once for MS) and it was nearly impossible to schedule an appointment. My phone calls and voicemails were left unanswered. A woman finally texted me after I went and talked to the photographer and she was snotty and rude. Finally got through to customer service and while they were nice enough it took my being extremely persistent to even get an appointment. At least The photographers themselves were nice and let me review photos. Getting the website to work correctly was confusing and the pictures are over priced. I wish there was another option through school to get pictures taken. read more

Had an incredible experience using Lauren Studios, everything was streamlined thanks to Caitlyn, who was extremely helpful, kind, and a pleasure to work with. I didn't know what the different finishes looked like and so I was unsure whether to go with matte, pearl etc. She graciously shared the finishes with me so I could make the best choice, which meant a lot as they weren't present in the order form. Photographer was nice but her statement was false on retouching. There were a few strains of hair required wetted down but she assured us it'll be retouched at no charge. When we were ready to select the photo for yearbook, the rep at studio asked for $19 for retouching, despite what the photographer told us, with an attitude. Also, we missed the $15 off any order promo since it was sent during the midterm period, the same rep would not honor the discount offer and insisted that we waited for the upcoming 20% off promo code. It was later proven useless since the minimum order was $175, we only wanted an 8x10($79), as the rep was fully aware. I had prior experience with this studio and they were cooperative and courteous, but no longer. read more

Please do not use this studio for senior portraits. I am only taking the time to write this in hopes a school will view these reviews before booking this studio. This is not a local company to our high school and they do not offer quality photography and they are not a traveling studio. After trouble actually booking an appointment, multiple students and myself could not reach them by phone. It took over week when I finally used the "online chat" feature and someone responded. I told the individual about the phone issue and she said they are not answering the phone due to the overwhelming amount of calls they are receiving?!? The studio provided multiple pieces of information on their website and pamphlets that were contradictory with the amount charged for the photos. After I had paid their " $65 sitting fee" & "$100 deposit" I found a small blurb on a pamphlet that said we do not need to pay anything for the photos upfront. I contacted them about this and they said sorry, it is "non-refundable." I asked for them to retake the photos and they said no, they will not be down here again. This is 7 months before graduation. I told them I am not interested in purchasing the full $100 in photos and they said they will not refund me any portion because this was a deposit. They will keep it all even if we don't order any photos. Please note: any "deposit" paid does not show in their website customer accounts. They informed me I will need to purchase everything at the full price then they will refund me the deposit when the order goes through their business office. I will need to follow up with my bank to make sure they applied any money previously paid. To top it off, I have continued to receive marketing materials offering discounts and promotions on photos we have already paid for the day the photos were taken. Don't pay for anything up front from this studio because you will receive a discount coupon, or 15, the following month via email. This is a ridiculous method of conducting business in which customers are taken advantage of. read more

Cancelled senior portraits at the university of Delaware and didn't tell anyone. Left me and others waiting outside the location we were told the appointments were at for nobody to be there. I had to search on the internet to find the phone number and when I called they told me the appointments were rescheduled. When I asked why I was not told they said it's cause they didn't have a phone number on file. They never asked for anyone's phone numbers as they were scheduled via school email. Why didn't they email us!? We all got our hair and nails done, missed class and bought outfits for the pictures! All a huge waste over some bad communication. Never got any email or call about rescheduling they just refunded me weeks later. Big disappointment. read more

My daughter is a senior in high school and not only are they ridiculously expensive - for senior photos - I never received an order form for sports pictures until AFTER photo was taken and was then unable to order copies because they don't accept orders AFTER the photo is taken. Again, nothing against the customer service agents because they tried their best. I got my reprint delivered to the correct address, this time with a tracking number thank goodness. However the photos I received were NOT the ones I selected when I placed my order. I am so extremely disappointed and frustrated with the lab that this company works with/uses. It's like they don't care about how much money they ask for their photos and on top of that I didn't even get the ones I was waiting so long for. I have to jump through more hoops to get the photos I selected and ordered LAST NOVEMBER. ALMOST A YEAR AGO. I am annoyed. And the retouch is so overdone, I wish I didn't add it on but there was no retouch sample so I just prayed that it would look natural. It looks so airbrushed. I wanted to give a HUGE thank you and shout-out to Marjorie, who helped us with a senior portrait re-order. Marjorie was professional, courteous and efficient; and most importantly, she listened carefully to understand the issues I had with the first set of portraits sent to us and worked to resolve them effectively. [Don't know if it was an one-off problem, but the first set of portraits we received seemed hazier, of lower resolution and darker than the proofs. The photos themselves were uncut, on a thin photo paper. Even the packaging was somewhat flimsy]. Marjorie pulled up the proofs to confirm their original sharp resolution, advised us to consider the pearl finish instead and worked with the photo-editors to ensure the lighting was what we expected from the proofs. The resulting 2nd set sent to us were fabulous! We were more than thrilled. The portraits were as what we would expect from a quality photo studio. read more

If I could give zero stars this would be my choice! I don't understand why the schools still reach out and hire this company for the seniors pictures. It's terrible. Pics are not the best and the prices for the packages or a la carte are outrageous! $350 for the digital file (unretouched) since this seems like the best option unless you want to spend $79+ tax/photo. I understand that they pay their photographers for the sessions and that as a business they need to make a profit but nothing justifies their ridiculous prices. I saw the sarcastic responses from the customer service ladies to the previous bad reviews saying "you don't have to buy". Really?? Am I supposed to take my kid somewhere else for another few pics since the school chose this rip off company for the senior pics? Much like the other reviewers, I was not at all satisfied with my experience. My photographer -- who I'm not even sure is part of the studio??? (I asked him something about the photo packages and delivery times, his response was "I don't know I just send them the photos") -- seemed bored, though that's fair given how many photos he probably had to take. My package was supposed to support a change of clothes, but I only ended up having time to take photos in the clothes I showed up in & the grad cap/gown. My 10-pose photo session took about 5 minutes total, most of which was spent adjusting my seat and putting on the cap/gown. The lowest priced package ($5) only lets you take a photo for the yearbook. And this is *just* the sitting fee. !??!?!? The $5 for mailing home proofs is absolutely not worth it. You literally get three sheets of paper, one of which has a slightly glossy look and rows of tiny 2" x 3" poses. It's the same as viewing the proofs on your computer... And after all this, if you want to buy a grad photo, the cheapest option (at least that I could find) on the website costs $65!!?!!?! The studio will send you emails about "coupons" and "sales" but these only apply to photo packages that are over $150. Don't get enticed. TLDR: Photos are what you'd expect from any basic professional studio. Unless you want to pay at least $5 to sit for a couple minutes or at least $70 to actually own a copy of your photo, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Shabnam was my photographer in Berkeley and she was great. However, I think there is room for improvement with the photography equipment. I certainly think that the lighting in the room could be fixed and lighting reflector could be used for better quality pictures. The props for the graduation package were also worn out, so would prefer if they replaced them with new ones. read more

So apparently this guy - Rudy N - contacted me 6 months after this review who was the guy I dealt with. He's the one who gave me the "funny" tag. He writes: "I sure did tell you that! It's like going to McDonalds with a coupon a week after you digested your food and asking for a discount. It's not going to happen. Wish this could be seen publicly. Ughhh..." I signed up for Yelp just to write a review here. Straight to the point, they charge WAAYYYY too much. And the worst part is that the real cost is not clearly communicated to the students when first booked. I was told to bring $35 dollars to the photo session. No mention of cost afterward at all. When I got a proof I was duly served with a menu with the cheapest option in the hundreds... These guys are really just selling to parents. But not all students have balling parents. The price of their products 3x of acceptable range IMO. Go book your own photos somewhere else and DO NOT fall into this trap! I wish I can get my wasted time and money back read more

This was a very disappointing experience overall. I paid $35 in cash($5 for the physical proofs) just to take the photos. I had my photos taken with a photographer who hated absolutely everything about his job. I walked into the room and waited for a few minutes for the person before me to finish, the photographer did not bring any mirrors, combs, spray or anything simple to fix the look a little bit. I had to walk three times to the bathroom outside of the room we were in to fix my hair and clothes. It would be much simpler if he brought a mirror even it's just a handheld one. When I was asking his opinion about if the shirt that I was wearing looks ok or should I change to another one, he just told me that whatever I find pleasing. The photographer was not enthusiastic which was a contrast of how I was feeling. He made me feel a little annoyed because he did not even care about his customers. Moreover, he took more photos of me in casual clothes than in caps and gowns, I am very upset that I'm not able to have more choices. Now let's talk about the pricing, RIDUCULOUS, absolutely robbing students, and their parents, I'm still debating whether I should get the photos from them or not. $75 for one 8x10 just isn't right. First off, I'm going to say that I have no idea how my pictures turned out since I just left the building. But it was not a good experience. Poses I paid for were not included. Pictures were taken without warning or any concern. I had to insist multiple times for more to be taken. The reason I gave 1 star is because the day my son had his senior photo session, the email and text that were sent out were not updated. He went to the assigned room per the email and ended up being a few minutes late because I had to call your studio to find out where the photos were going to be taken. After his session, per your email, a coat, shirt and tie were to be provided...NOT! I had to make another appointment for him to go back with his own coat. And still, the email confirmation for the second session was still not updated. Now, a couple of weeks later, no communication as to how we are supposed to view his photos online. Lauren Studios if you want to succeed in this business, you need to up your communication level to a much higher standard because at this moment, you are very poor at communicating with your customers. read more

One star because you can't leave a zero star review, although that would be more accurate. This company lures in college seniors with fairly cheap sitting fees. They give absolutely no pricing information for the actual photos up front. The prices are ridiculous. I understand quality professional portraits are expensive, and had no problem paying a few hundred dollars for my daughter's High School senior photos, but the photos Lauren Studios took look like they were done at WalMart: cheesy poses, no attention to detail like hair covering up the school name on the stole or hair obviously out of place. Background colors and prop choices were hideous. When I paid for High School photos from a professional photographer, it included outfit changes, a 90 minute session, edited photos, retouching of up to 20 prints, and a digital file of the entire session. Lauren Studios takes a few shots in about 10 minutes, charges hundreds of dollars for just a few photos, and retouching is $19-$29 PER PHOTO! The only positive is that the proofs were so bad that we weren't tempted to even consider a purchase, regardless of price. Not even sure how that was possible since my daughter, unlike me, has always been extremely photogenic. read more

They don't tell you how much each photo is going to cost but give you the option of choosing more photo poses for an extra $15. I thought "okay, $15 isn't too bad if it means getting more options to choose from. My high school photos were like $30-40 so this should be similar".... NOPE! For one single 8x10, expect to pay $80. ONE electronic copy of a photo costs $275 without retouching, either. I feel scammed out of my $15; had I known the cost of buying a single photo would cost me the equivalent of buying Airpods, I would have never spent my money. Scheduled my appointment months ago and it was cancelled 2 hours before the shoot. I called the company to reschedule said they said I could walk-in between 10-11 the next day. I came in for the walk-in, explained what customer service had told me and the photographer (Agarcia) told me I had wait for everyone scheduled for the day to get their photos taken before me and that she was fully booked for the day. The way she explained it was not how it was explained to me over the phone. After waiting for two shoots to be completed, there was a break between shoots (the person scheduled didn't show up) and I had asked if I could sit since no one was waiting and she said "No. I have to prepare for my next shoot" and then left. I don't think it was communicated to her that I was told I could sit for my photos at that time and called customer service, again. During the shoot, I had asked if I could see the photos and she said "no. It's been deleted"(???). Had I known this was their policy I would've just canceled all together. Very unprofessional, rude and rushed experience. read more

I literally just now got my UCSD grad photos back like 5 mins ago and I can honestly say these are the worst photos that have ever been taken of me . I've had professional photos done before and these are by far the worst. All these photos took her like 5 mins to take by the way there was no adjusting me or anything. It looks incredibly awkward and half assed to be honest. I cannot believe I paid money for this B.S. I would rather not be shown in my school directory. The booking process is entirely misleading... nowhere does it state that, after you pay your $25 fee, there will be a hefty charge for purchase of images--one image alone is over $200. Beyond this disappointingly duplicitous behavior, the quality of photography is honestly just too low. I was photographed with a crooked diploma in hand, in addition to the fact that the photographer didn't direct me in any way, so the dozen images that I have to choose from all look the same. Overall, terribly unsatisfying experience. I feel conned, especially considering pricing should really be transparent to students (who can be expected have limited funds). read more
