I can't say enough good things about Dr. Ellner. My mother was referred to Dr. Ellner by her doctor since she has bad arthritis in her feet, and she is a diabetic. Therefore, she needed someone who could trim her deformed toe nails without causing any injury to her toes/feet. In diabetics, scrapes, scratches, or blisters on your feet can become an ulcer. These deep, open wounds can allow bacteria into your bloodstream. You could become very ill or risk needing an amputation if you don't seek care. That is why we decided to have a Podiatrist take care of my mother's feet. Anyways, we found doctor Ellner to be very personable, competent, patient, and caring. We have seen Dr. Ellner for at least 4 times, and he has always seen us on time. That shows you that he and his office staff value your time as well as their own. Since we have had such positive experiences with Dr. Ellner, I have referred my fiancé and I made an appointment for myself to take care of our foot problems as well. I took my mom to see Dr. Ellner. This is the 1st time that my mom ever have this type of care. Her two feet were full of fungus and some of her toes with double nails. Also one of her feet has callus. They look very ugly. Dr. Ellner provided very courteous, gentle and professional services. He spent almost one hour on my mom's feet without any breaks. At end, my mom is very happy with the result. Her two feet looks complete new and nice. She walked in with great pain with her two problem feet. She walked out without any pain. He recommended orthotics to adjust my foot and was conservative in his recommendations, which I always appreciate. I have been coming to Dr. Ellner for the past, wow like 5 to 6 years? On and off of course. But I initially came to him for an ingrown toe nail on one border of my toe then the other toe, then the other border, etc. So I've had my fair share of appointments here! Dr.Ellner is great! He's hilarious and he always makes you feel comfortable when you're about to get any procedures! Before during and even after! He always lets you know what he's going to do. During he always made sure I wasn't in any pain that I didn't need to be, and after he always followed up and was thorough with after care! My problem was ingrown toe-nails because that is just how the borders of my nail grow and so he suggested a permanent solution and he's actually done it on both borders of both my toes! I'm not going to lie it's not fun to get poked in the toe with a numbing needle but he walks me through the steps and it's doesn't feel so bad! I guess my only complaint is that because he's so great and everybody loves him, getting an appointment is a pain! Especially when his receptionist is curt and won't work with you and your schedule and instead gets frustrated with the patient. His other female receptionists on the other hand are so kind and welcoming! My toe nails now don't even look like they've had anything done to them, all normal! And now I'll never have to worry about an ingrown toe nail infection again thanks to Dr. Ellner! read more

I give Dr. Ellner five stars in all the different areas of health care that I could think about: He is has an excellent side manners, makes the patient feel totally at ease. He is very professional, knowledgeable, listens to the patient, straight to the point and yet kind. He is one of the best care providers I have seen. I had persistent low back pain for years, I went to see different health care providers among others two Rheumatologist and an Orthopedic Dr. none of these arrogant "big shots" resolve the problem didn't even have a clue. I have a very painful condition in my feet that requires custom made orthotics; before I met Dr Ellner, I was told that none was capable of making these orthotics in Fremont, I was suffering. I was so happy when I finally met Dr Ellner and he made orthotics that took care of my feet, no more pain in my feet! He also takes care if my son's feet as well. My family has been seeing Dr. Ellner for many years. Usually he is very helpful and kind. He however has horrible office reception staff in the front. I recently attempted to make an appointment to see the doctor. I was having a very difficult time with pain in my feet and they were not able to see me. They made an appointment for two weeks out despite the fact that I needed urgent care. When I asked for a referral of another doctor in my area they said that it was not their office policy to give any help to anyone in this way. They went on to say, " we will not give you the name of another doctor, you will have to contact your doctor's office and they can give you a referral ". When I asked them if they could make a suggestion to their doctor to maybe change that policy in the future the office staffer told me the doctor doesn't want to do that. He continued to repeat that to me as I explained to him that I was only asking him to make a suggestion as in pass on my information to the doctor. I explained to him that good customer service would dictate that he only say sure ma'am I'll do that, I'm sorry we could not help you more. He never got that... Instead, he won the conversation by repeating himself and sounding like an apathetic robot. For this reason the office gets a big fail. The guy on the phone might have won that day, but they lost a patient as well. read more
