Hopefully everyone is healthy & no one ever has to see or take their child to an orthopedic surgeon, but if they do, Dr. Motamed is the guy, he is WONDERFUL! Dr. Motamed is professional, caring, and easy to talk to. When my 11 yr old son broke his arm, Dr. Motamed took care of him from beginning to the end. He reassured my husband & I that everything would be ok and simultaneously allowed my son to feel he was in trusted hands. Furthermore Dr. Motamed took the opportunity to explain the injury to my sons (because I have 3) and engaged them in the recovery process (which I loved, because for the most part they all wanted to help their brother heal quickly). As a side note, when my son was out of town visiting family and decided to go swimming and then submerge his cast underwater, my husband contacted Dr.Motamed. Dr. Motamed responded quickly to our concerns and reassured us that everything was going to be ok (luckily, my sister wrapped his arm in a plastic bag & his cast was not completely soaked but only a bit wet). The cast was changed when they were back in town and x-rays were retaken to ensure the bone was healing properly. My son is now back to playing, running around and riding his bike, thanks to Dr. Motamed. Terrible experience. I ended up with a pulmonary embolism after a surgery that I could've easily avoided. To top it, the doctor disowned that the surgery might've caused the PE even though a healthy person like me with no predisposing factors ends up in the ER with a PE just 5 days after surgery. Went back with internal bleeding in the surgery site and intense pain. Absolute callous treatment by the doctors. Empathy is a doctor's strength of all doctors and they lack it. read more

Dr. Motamed is one of the super stars. He possesses a great bedside manner and shows concern for his patients. He didn't rush any of my appointments and answered all my questions in terms I could understand. I was surprised at how quickly everything worked. I met with Dr. and he got my background and did a quick initial exam. Then someone whisked me off for an x-ray and referred for me an MRI. The results were back in two days and my follow-up with the Dr. the next week. He found where the trouble was and went over my options. I elected surgery to repair my meniscus. I met with the Scheduler and she was an absolute dear - all smiles and happy to help. When I returned to have my stitches removed, the medical assistant was very friendly and did the best she could to avoid hurting me. The office is clean. They have a large waiting area with TVs, magazines and coffee. I'd been in several times. The only negative commentary is that the front office staff is not at all friendly. They don't greet. There are no smiles. There is no eye contact. What I especially didn't like is the way they handle a patient with an outstanding balance. In my opinion they should be a bit more discreet and respect the patient's privacy as well as dignity and either handle that from the back office or just be a little quieter so as not to call out the patient's financial issue for the waiting room to hear. read more

I went in to Dr. Motamed after my shoulder started to frequently dislocate. He promptly examined me and scheduled an MRI. The results found I had a torn labrum. I underwent surgery on November 7,2012. So far the results have been fantastic. I'm now going through physical therapy and it seems as though I will not have the shoulder dislocation issue again. The staff at Mission Peak is AWESOME! I am always greeted warmly and I always leave with a goodbye from the staff. I came to my appointment about 30 minutes early today, and I expected to wait until my scheduled time to be seen but Dr. Motamed saw that I was waiting and took me in within 3 minutes of me arriving. I really don't know what the other reviewers are talking about when they say they had a bad experience. He didn't waste anytime getting me in and getting X-rays done for diagnosis. I had to have Surgery and got that scheduled in a timely manner also. He explained everything that was going to happen during surgery and healing. I am now recovered and so glad that he was the Dr. that took care of me. Dr. Soheil Motamed is a great surgeon. Truly dedicated to his art and science. I'm a very serious, but old, amateur athlete that has been pretty lucky with health. The last few years chronic ski and golf injuries to my shoulder and elbow really set me back. In both instances the source of my pain was not easily determined but Dr.Motamed, who is very experienced in athletic performance and injuries, worked directly with me and my personal Radiologist to find the right treatments and solutions. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Motamed as a result of year long persistent knee pain. He was friendly, kind, generous with his time as he explained the possible reasons for the pain. I was then referred for an MRI at another facility. When the results came back to his office that indicated two heavy duty tears of the meniscus, Dr. Motamed again was thorough in explaining his corrective knee surgery procedure. And I'm glad to report that surgery was a breese and recovery has been going great. I know I will have full range of motion and strength again and be able to run and play basketball just like before. I have been seen by Dr. Motamed many times and he has operated on both my L and R elbows and my wrist (assisted by a plastic surgeon specializing in hand surgery). I have complete confidence in his ability and had I not, I would not have seen him for surgeries 2 and 3. Dr. Motamed greets me pleasantly upon entering the exam room. We have a nice exchange regarding life (other than health), then we get down to the business at hand (no pun intended). I will often ask about his children and he about my "children" (all 32 that I teach in elementary school). He's busy as am I. He strikes a balance between sufficient/ insufficient "bed side manner." He knows his medicine and suggests the course of treatment that should work the best for me. I saw Dr. Motamed in October 2012 with extreme weightbearing knee pain that,somehow, the shots didn't take care of. I have two jobs and Dr. Motamed felt for my pain. When he did not see anything wrong in the Xray he immediately ordered MRI. This was done all on the first day of consultation. His PA Dr. Stark, was equally attentive and very sensitive to my pain during the successive visits. Surgery was done this November and I am now walking without a cane although still on therapy. I saw Dr. Motamed about a shoulder problem that in the end required surgery. Regarding reviews on the web, I'm not interested in other's opinions unless they are professionals. For example, what on earth do someone's insurance problems have to do with Dr. Motamed's qualifications as a surgeon? To be sure, appropriate customer interaction, for MDs called "bedside manners" are part of medical professionalism, but when I go see a surgeon I am looking for medical professional excellence, and Dr. Motamed was recommended to me by my family Dr. as someone of the highest caliber. Dr. Motamed examined my case, explained what it might be and therefore why he needs which additional diagnostic before he can make a recommendation. I had those tests done, and at our next appointment he explained what he found, how it manifests itself on the x-ray and the MRI, and what other possibilities can be excluded and why. Based on those findings he recommended a surgical follow on and outlined concisely what was involved. He did the surgery itself with such dexterity and precision I had no discomfort despite a reasonably sizeable incision and I rarely healed so fast. He systematically followed post-surgery developments till he shook my hand and said: "we're done, you're good to go". Throughout, his mannerism was typical of an all-round top medical professional with a sovereign mastery of his field. And when it comes down to a correct diagnosis, down to hours of scalpel and total anesthetics, it's that professional excellence that I prefer above all else.
