We hired DJM to build a new deck, remove cedar shake and replace with vinyl siding, replace the…read moreroof and replace our windows. They were hired in the end of June. demolition was slow, as only 1 worker was on site. The cedar shake was removed from 3 out of 4 sides by the middle of July. The construction of the deck was completed at the end of July. However, this had to be pulled up as it was constructed without any footers. Rather, the 2x4 scraps that were to appear as footers were not even 1 inch in the ground. The windows that were purchased did not meet fire code. We went and purchased new windows to be sure they met fire code and my family would be safe in the event of an emergency. We are left with only 3 of the original 8 windows that were paid for as part of this job, as well as an additional cost for new windows do to the contractors mistake. The roof is the only job that more than 2 workers were here. It went quickly, and thus far there don't seem to be issues with the roof. Here's the hard part - the mess left behind. None of the windows or the new sliding glass door were finished inside. Nor were the 2 skylights that were covered over when the roof was installed. We have hired others to finish the work at an additional cost to us. Also, there are mounds of debris and dirt sitting in my yard that I will have to pay yo remove. Additionally, we purchased our own roller magnet after my daughter put a nail through her foot in my garage. We recovered roughly 800-1,000 nails and screws from around my house. most were clearly visible with the naked eye.

Hired Brian to install new tub and surround which was owner supplied and a new window which he…read moresupplied. Being the only bath in the house work had to be completed and usable in one day. Is completed in the same day but was discovered afterwards that the surround was was installed wrong so had to be reordered and first one had to be torn out and reorder installed at his expense. New bath faucet internals also had to be replaced (at owners expense) because when soldering in place he got the fixture to hot and ruined the parts so faucet leaked from day one. Also a few years later when installing new siding discovered instead of ordering correct window the window that was installed was a "replacement" window meant to go in an old window frame but was installed in a wood frame opening with a horrible caulk and trim job on the outside which allowed the window drain holes to leak water into the wall of the house for years. The wall had to be torn apart and rebuilt from the water and subsequent insect damage. Worst contractor I have ever dealt with.
