I tried on two previous occasions with two other landscapers and was disappointed both times. Ken understood what I was hoping to create with my outdoor spaces and made it happen. He used plants and rocks that were different and beautiful. One of the trees that he found for me, he hoped he could find another for himself! It is probably my favorite. Ken oversaw the project with a critical eye. He was not afraid to make changes to his original plan, in order to please me, or his own sense of style as the project progressed. In addition, he did my fencing and lighting. I didn't have to deal with coordinating between companies. Ken took care of it all. He was so easy to work with. I had a lot of poor soil, stumps and roots in the back yard that I wanted to get rid of. I thought fall would be a good time to do it so the grass would seed before winter and look good by spring. I expected a pretty slow growth process and didn't think the yard would look like much for at least a few months, but Jay planted a number of large rolls of sod and blended them really well with the rest of the yard. By the time he was done, it was impossible to tell the new area from the rest of the yard because everything looked great together. When you work with contractors, there's always a risk they'll take a long time to finish the job or leave a mess, but Jay was especially attentive to our property and cared about our overall experience. We were always asked beforehand what time would be convenient for us to have them work at the house, and we always knew in advance as to when a worker would show up. They were always specific about the time and never gave us a range (like "sometime between 1:00 and 4:00"). If they said they would show up at 1:00, then they showed up at 1:00. And when his workers were done for that day, there was no way to tell they'd been there other than the quality of work and the beautiful landscape taking shape - no messes, no gates left unlocked, etc. The project was completed significantly faster than I thought it would and the end result was amazing. I would definitely work with Grounds Keeper again and recommend them if you want a contractor that works fast, respects your property, and gets you results immediately.

I'll give credit where credit is due, my 1/2 acre plot with a fenced in yard had a LOT of leaves…read more I had just bought the home, so no one had mowed in a while. These guys did a GREAT job cleaning up the leaves. So here's why this is a 1 star review. I get a quote over the phone to mow the lawn and clean the leaves- 140/hr. I get told they will not bill my card without calling me. I had to call them every week for 3 weeks to get them to my property. They missed deadlines they set for themselves every time, until the third time I called and they asked if it needed to be done before Thanksgiving. I told them yes and they show up at 3pm the day before Thanksgiving to do some work. Sundown was at 4:30 that day, so they missed the Thanksgiving deadline (not that it mattered to me) and had to come back a second day to finish. Also, no one cut the front lawn either day they were at the home. 3 weeks later I have a $700 charge. No call to tell me the cleanup is going to run long, no call to tell me they are charging me. I honestly thought this was a mistaken charge. The only time I got a call was when I left a voice mail telling them I was going to put a stop payment on the charge. The owner called me that day and laid it all out- it was a big project, what his costs are, he wasn't stealing... No answer when I asked him why he didn't call me to tell me it was going to be a 5 hour job. He said they cut the front lawn, which makes me think he was never at the house because there is no way that was done and it's still a mess. He said he would "see what he could do to make it better so I don't bad mouth him," but that's not what this is. Like I said, these guys did a GREAT job with the leaves. But for $700 I probably could have hired the local football team to pick up the leaves by hand, one by one. I'm gonna write this one off as a loss and look for a different landscaper.
