Jay and his team at Grounds Keeper recently did work on my family's yard and they did a top-notch job, beyond my expectations. I had a lot of poor soil, stumps and roots in the back yard that I wanted to get rid of. I thought fall would be a good time to do it so the grass would seed before winter and look good by spring. I expected a pretty slow growth process and didn't think the yard would look like much for at least a few months, but Jay planted a number of large rolls of sod and blended them really well with the rest of the yard. By the time he was done, it was impossible to tell the new area from the rest of the yard because everything looked great together. When you work with contractors, there's always a risk they'll take a long time to finish the job or leave a mess, but Jay was especially attentive to our property and cared about our overall experience. We were always asked beforehand what time would be convenient for us to have them work at the house, and we always knew in advance as to when a worker would show up. They were always specific about the time and never gave us a range (like "sometime between 1:00 and 4:00"). If they said they would show up at 1:00, then they showed up at 1:00. And when his workers were done for that day, there was no way to tell they'd been there other than the quality of work and the beautiful landscape taking shape - no messes, no gates left unlocked, etc. The project was completed significantly faster than I thought it would and the end result was amazing. I would definitely work with Grounds Keeper again and recommend them if you want a contractor that works fast, respects your property, and gets you results immediately. read more

Jay Eriv is a highly talented designer but the crew at Groundskeeper is the gang that couldn't shoot straight. After bungling our waterfall installation with serious leaks - and it was a beautiful design by Jay, let me be clear - they came back for a bi-annual cleaning and to try to fix the problems from the installation. $2,000 later, they did purely cosmetic work that didn't fix the serious leaks in our waterfall. I've tried to get their attention to come back but Jay seems to have lost interest in the problems his team has caused. Too bad, like I say, the designs are beautiful but get someone else to built them. read more

We recently purchased a home with an aqua garden and pond created by the team at grounds keeper. As new pond owners we were completely lost on how to care for it. From my first call begging for help the staff has been amazing! Steve was a lovely introduction to the group. He set me up for an in home tutorial on ponds with Michael. Michael helped us get the full lay of the land with the terminology for what we have and thoroughly explained all of the electrical components. Andrew has been super helpful when we come into the store, helping us select fish and the proper food and bacteria. We also attended our first free seminar with Jay and learned quite a bit! Grounds Keeper has transformed our yard with mass plantings of Black Eyed Susan's, Echinacea of vibrant pinks, reds and oranges & Vanilla & Strawberry Hydrangeas. Do not use this guy, Jay. Prices are out of line, not flexible, made us pay 1800 for landscape design and priced the job at a $ amount that made the project not feasible. Since we can't afford the project the 1,800 is now lost. $15k for just landscaping on a small cape is not even close to reasonable. $7k for a brick walkway that is 20-25 feet long - really ??? Waste of $ and time. Jay did not listen to what we wanted and just came up with what he wanted to do and kept offering and pushing us to finance to project with his bank. Brutal. There are so many better options out there. read more

Our complex property is breathtaking. Jay is remarkably knowledgeable, talented, pleasant to work with and adaptive. His fees are high but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". His aesthetic is easy to appreciate. Having let go of so many other landscape companies in the past for irresponsibility, too much buzz cutting & "meat-balling" shrubs, seeing his completed job is a breath of fresh air... he IS a Groundskeeper, not a lawn guy! His crew, was efficient, hard-working, pleasant, accommodating, and clearly knew what they were doing. I'm certain you can find companies and people who will charge less but will they do what they say they will do and do they know what they're doing? With Jay, you get a clear overview/picture of the plan, the possible initial costs vs long term costs involved and what you can expect. From the minute we met Jay from Groundskeeper, we could sense his knowledge, experience and passion for all things related to outdoor living space.
