If you value your money please do not use Laurys bakery. If I could give zero stars I would . I ordered a cake and the cake erupted like a volcano. I consulted a chef/baker and was informed structural damage. The top layer was too heavy to support the 12 inch bottom cake. The dowels were to far in the center. The owner did not want to take no responsibility for the downfall of this cake. Refused any type of compensation . The manager blamed it on the weather citing this usually happens to a cake when it is hot outside. Mind you this was Saturday 04Apr2026. The weather was 50 degrees. A cake should be able to substain that weather. People have parties in their backyard at 90 degrees with no problem. This was not a whip cream cake. Let me start by saying I've been getting my kids cakes from here since 2017 and although the cakes are immaculate the customer service is terrible. This bakery has went down the drain the owner or the guy who makes the cakes is very rude and the young women he hires are even ruder and he allows this... I ordered cake for 4/4 I forgot to pick it up so I reached out to the bakery and was told I'm not getting a refund because it's my fault and in no way their fault I agreed with him but stated that they should've called like they used too he said I'm sure she called I stated the young lady didn't even ask for my number so I'm positive she didn't he told me I can get it at 730 or in the morning I told him my sons birthday and party is today at 4 I won't need the cake any more so I guess I'll just get the cake I won't need anymore tomorrow he told me he's trying to communicate with me on his day off he's with his family and tha im making this really uncomfortable lol I spent 102 dollars on that cake for a specific event don't tell me about uncomfortable this is my final purchase with this bakery I wish him and his rude workers the best, I wasnt hostile at all he expected me to be though. Laury's Bakery is a small bakery in oak park. When I'm in the area there is always a long line outside the door. I decided to go in when it was less busy. When I entered there was a situation going on with a unhappy customer. Customer was acting a fool but staff handle the situation respectfully and professionally. Laury's bakery is affordable and have a lot of cupcake options. I decided to try the caramel cup cake and the strawberry cheese cake. Caramel cupcake: I love the caramel on top (Delicious). The cupcake was very moist and flavorful. It has a lemon flavor and didn't like it so much (I'm not a lemon person) but it was a decent cupcake. Strawberry Cheesecake: My favorite. Strawberry on top was fresh. The filling on top was not to sweet. There was not any crust on the bottom but there was a crust on top of the cheesecake covered with the filling. I really enjoyed it. Laurys Bakery has been around like forever ever. It still looks the exactly the same after all those years. It could use a little remodeling because it looks like some of the same decorations has been up in that display over a decade. Not taking anything away from this bakery because the caramel cupcakes is just what I love. Very moist and soft. The prices are reasonable. There are just so many delightful treats that are displayed in the glass fridge behind the counter. Depending on the hour it could get kind of busy. So, it's best you get there in the morning to make your purchase or put in your cake order. Customer Service is ok also just depends on who waits on you. Well decided to try my apple fritter on the drive home and was as crunchy as a cracker and hard (stale). Later that day we decided to eat our cake slices and we are all disappointed. Just knocked them down to 2 stars today. I had a sweet tooth and was close by so I decided to give them another try. I always liked their sweets. Today I got the peach cobbler. Under the glass it looked good, but when I got home... A different story. The cobbler looked old and dark. When I tasted it, it tasted like they screwed up the recipe so they made up for it by drowning it with cinnamon. I will never get that again. Very rude customer service and they do not make stable cakes. Save your money and go elsewhere. I've transported many cakes over the years and haven't had any major issues before today. Being secured, this cake still shifted in transport. At the car we lined it back up and carefully walked it to the table designated for the cake and when we opened the box it had fell in the opposite direction of how it shifted earlier. We looked under the layers and took pictures of how there was no bonding agent between the top and bottom layer. Instead they were both placed on small plastic pieces that let the cake slide significantly even when just being cut. I am certain at the very least, a small circle of frosting should've went around or in between the layers to have stability, but it wasn't done. When the store was contacted about this error they were rude and insisted we just didn't know how to handle a tier cake. Talk about adding insult to injury because when a cake that has been paid for already looks awful you most certainly want to be talked down to. Will never go back here and will caution everyone I know who even considers this place. read more

As a kid ... like 4 & up . I would get these carousel cakes or circus cakes for my birthdays. Me and my mom would stand at this bus stop and she would always get me a brownie or cookie or something from here. It was good then and they are STILL good now ! And when I had my kid we got her cakes from there too. As well as the baby shower cakes and birthday cakes they do other good desserts too.
