Stopped in on a whim after a protest a few weeks ago to pick up some goodies. I got a few pastries/donuts and slices of cheesecake. I'm super picky with my cheesecake but theirs was AMAZING! The strawberry one is 15/10 easily lol While in there I saw a few people pick up their cakes and they looked great! Will definitely be trying for our next birthday. read more

Scrumptious! The apple slices are absolutely delicious. Apple pie in bottom , apple pie crust a with light frosting on top & pure deliciousness in the middle( apple filling). A good balance with the pie filling. Definitely can see that as a MEGA Hit over the holidays. The cinnamon rolls, so good. I use to stop in here on the way downtown, before I got onto the Blue line to work; back in early 2000's. Called everywhere trying to book a cake for my dad's birthday and it just felt as if nobody wanted the business-- until we called oak park bakery. They answered the phone (so far so good) Agreed to provide the type of cake that I wanted (wow!) We ordered and paid and put our faith in them. Picked it up... it looked beautiful. Love this tiny bakery cuz it's not too far me & the products they serve are very delightful. I've been told countless times to visit this bakery, but never made it out to Oak Park until finally this past weekend. My First visit to this bakery was late on a Saturday (2pm, and they close at 4pm), and the fact that they had very little left over is a testament to how much they sell out early in the day. We purchased two Smiley Cookies, and wow was it so nice!! simple butter sugar cookie with frosting and a chocolate smile, but it was perfect with coffee! This bakery is probably one of few authentic, non bakery chains left in the area. The pastries are delectable and fresh. I do not go often because I do not have the metabolism of my 20 year old self, but once a month I like to treat myself to these delicious goodies. read more

I always thought this bakery was just your run of the mill generic bakery where everything is made with shortening and doesn't have a lot of flavor. Not so. I started working at a school in Oak Park and people would bring their products in on Fridays. They use BUTTER!! Lots of it. Their coffee cake is to die for. I have tried all flavors of coffee cakes, their butter cookies and a regular cookie and it is all so good. I don't know anyone who makes a better coffee cake. You have to either go early or call and order because they sell out fast. If you go in the afternoon you might just be looking at nothing but crumbs. read more

It's a decent bakery, but it's too expensive for my once and a while splurge for my co-workers. I paid $14 for a Rasbery Coffee Cake. I know everything has gone up, but I can get a similar Coffee Cake a Jewel for $6 or $7 when they're not on sale. Spare me that this one is worth so much more because it's local. It's a coffee cake. I cannot afford $14 for a Coffee Cake unless it also comes with Coffee. read more

While the baked goods are out of this world and so delicious the service left a lot to be desired. The older person tending to me was nice and fulfilled my order, however the younger plus sized person was very cold and dismissive. They never greeted me or acknowledged my presence. They showed no interest in helping me and I honestly felt like I was being watched. This isn't the first time I've been treated this way and I think I'll find another bakery to spend my money in. read more

We found this bakery when we lived in Oak Park. We moved about 10 years ago but still make the drive to get the best coffee cakes we've ever found. Their cheese coffee cake and pecan coffee cake are both just outrageously good. The potato bread, donuts and rolls are great too. read more

I've been a fan of Oak Park Bakery for years. Their nut coffee cakes are some of my favorite. So, when I decided to get married in Oak Park, I knew where I'd be getting my wedding cake. The bakery is easy to work with and pricing extremely reasonable; the hardest part is getting through because they're always busy. I got some basic info a while ago, so I had already decided what I wanted. Since we were doing an intimate ceremony, I wasn't looking for something large or stereotypically considered a wedding cake. What I ordered was a 1/4 sheet cake - chocolate cake, fresh strawberry center and whipped cream frosting. I gave them basic decorating instructions - festive colored frosting flowers in opposing corners. I was quite happy with the appearance and taste of the cake. The only hiccup was when my friend picked up our cake. Initially, they couldn't find the order, but when she asked them to take a second look, they found it. read more

As the city of Chicago getting a massive tourist traffic from all around the globe, Rosa J. and her hubby have decided to retreat themselves to Oak Park for some spring/summer fun. We both like old-fashioned, historic bakeries around town, Oak Park Bakery is located less than a block south of the CTA Oak Park Blue Line station. Please exit the train station through the Oak Park Ave. side. It's tiny place with some enticing cupcakes by the windows, along with cakes, cookies, donuts, and bread to make the entire bakery look like a heaven for sweet-toothed individuals! We went with the quarter (1/4) pound of assortment cookies. You can hand-pick the varieties, but the nice young lady saved us some work by choosing the popular kinds for us. We paid less than $3 for eight (8) pieces of cookies. They do have a minimum cap for using a debit or a credit card, which is $5. My recommendation is to have some cash on hand because I realized other items were reasonably-priced as well. There's a PNC bank ATM inside of the Oak Park Blue Line station if PNC is your primary bank or if you don't mind paying for the surcharge. We munched couple pieces; they were pretty delicious. Those cookies might not look fancy, but there were one of the most down-to-earth things you could find in this country. Food with unpretentious embellishment, you can say it's old-spirited Americana. I always enjoy visiting Oak Park, for her relative serenity and peacefulness the city of Chicago lacks on spring weekends. I bet I will be coming this way some time soon. read more

Ordered cake for a baby shower 2 days before the event, after I was told "no. We're all booked for the weekend" by their local competitor. I'm glad they did because this was the best cake I have tasted in a long while! Moist sponge. Creamy whipped cream frosting. Fresh fruit filling. The mommy to be loved it! They have amazing matcha lattes and change their menu accordingly to the seasons. They don't have the strawberry matcha anymore but they have a vanilla version that is to die for. Overall a great experience always.

Today I drove there specifically to have a meal, but there was a private event and it was closed to regular customers, which was disappointing. It's also usually very loud inside, making it difficult to have a calm conversation. I consulted a chef/baker and was informed structural damage. The top layer was too heavy to support the 12 inch bottom cake. The dowels were to far in the center. The owner did not want to take no responsibility for the downfall of this cake. Refused any type of compensation . The manager blamed it on the weather citing this usually happens to a cake when it is hot outside. Mind you this was Saturday 04Apr2026. The weather was 50 degrees. A cake should be able to substain that weather. People have parties in their backyard at 90 degrees with no problem. This was not a whip cream cake. Also the cake were kept in a cool environment.
