I met up with LaViera seven years ago when my boyfriend had proposed to me and I wanted to send out engagement announcements. We booked LaViera for our wedding and we did a fabulous shoot, it was my boyfriend's idea to do a 60's themed shoot where we dressed up in vintage clothing. We event rented a vintage car and I gotta tel you the photos were phenomenal to say the least. I sent out the announcements and immediately got a massive reaction from friends and family about how innovative and unique our engagement announcement photos were . We also got a fabulous wedding slideshow which all of our friends and family both far and near got to see view online. It was fun making it, but it was even more fun sharing it with friends an family. Shortly after my new fiancé who is enrolled in the military was called to duty. I was so scared and ofcourse thought of the worst case scenario, but what could I do? Anyway my fiancé and I put our wedding plans on hold to focus on his return. That meant our wedding date would change and we would have no idea what it would be. We contacted our vendors and while most of them we not willing to be flexible and work with our unique situation , the staff at LaViera was beyond supportive and said they would leave our contract as an "open date" so we can choose later. It was about two grueling years of seeing my fiancé just on video or once per year. I hated the entire experience and it did not help that we were pending a wedding based on his safe return . Looking back now those were some hard years just waiting, and then I got the news. My fiancé was not coming home. He was killed in battle. I won't even begin explain the hell I went through. I do know however that during this process the staff at LaViera photography was so understanding. We got our non-refundable deposit back with flowers and a card. I was so moved by the way they treated me like a person. It has been seven years since those very difficult years. Although I thought I would never move on, I finally did and fell in love again. That has been the most surprising gift, to be able to start over. I met someone who completes me and we got engaged. I immediately called LaViera Photography to book them for my wedding and schedule a shoot. My date was available and we again with met with our Photographer Jinnellys who shot our engagement photos. Though time had passed the experience was just as I remembered I the first time around. I had so much fun taking the photos and had so much of our input went into how the shots went. That's the thing I loved that I was able to give my two cents on every aspect even though I am not a professional. The photos were phenomenal and I even made a canvas of one of the photos to put in our living room. I also liked that they let me keep the high resolution negatives so I can use again and again. My dream wedding finally arrived! So much work went into it and I have to mention that before the wedding the studio manager at LaViera walked me through planning so many aspects of my wedding that I was clearly clueless about. Looking back now it's like so many things that had nothing to do with photography were made possible by them. They were so experienced they could advise on most things of my wedding day and that made me feel super safe. On the day of the wedding I was a nervous reck. But you can imagine the comfort I felt having been working with LaViera, Jinnellys and the staff for seven years and knowing that they had been there and supportive during the most difficult times of my life. Having them there it the most joyous time of my life was also very surreal and emotional. At this point they just felt like family. Today I have a beautiful wedding album with tons of photos that help me relive the day. I never thought it would turn out like this after so much pain. I appreciate that the staff and LaViera did not look at me as just another contract that went wrong, but a person with real issues. I had to write my story so others who are looking to be supported and treated as a person can choose a photographer who will be there for you from beginning to end not just because they are making money from you, but because they are passionate about what they do and because they genuinely care. I know I have said it so many times before, but here I am again getting emotional and thinking to myself how lucky I was to have found you. Today I am 4months pregnant! A few things you want from a photographer you choose might be, quality work, lot of experience and a good personality. Oh and they should be affordable. LaViera has covered my engagement, wedding, anniversary, newborn and family portraits for over a decade now. My photos are featured on their website! Once in a while you come across a Photographer that has both quality work and personality. You don't know this yet, but you need a little bit of both. Mostly cause people sometimes are just not comfortable in front of the camera. I know for me, it can be sometimes a bit uncomfortable to get loose infront of the camera. I had Laviera Photography for my wedding this month and as many brides know nothing ever goes according to plan in fact I can name a few things that went wrong with my wedding especially regarding my DJ which had me depressed for a few days after the wedding but once I received my pictures it put me in such a great mood if I could go back and do it all over again there are a few things I would change but NOT my photographers! I had two photographers for the evening that stuck by me throughout the entire day, Jinnellys was so upbeat and kept us all in the best mood in fact so many of our guests complimented my groom and I in finding such a charismatic and extremely friendly photographer. I became completely in love with my wedding again after seeing my pictures, it made me take a step back and realize that at the end of the day no one has a 'perfect' wedding but what truly matters is the love you have for one another and Laviera Photography captured that perfectly! One of the main reasons I went with LaViera initially was because their photos looked great. I was impressed with the slideshows and cool photos. It wasn't until I actually used them for my family shoot that I was relieved that they were more than just about great photos. When having a family shoot, you want great photos, but those will not come unless you have a photographer with personality, patience and a good sense of humor. That is, if you have small children or even a large chaotic family to get to behave! What makes the portraits great is the photographer's ability to make people feel at ease. I know for my daughter, she is young and she had her own agenda during the shoot and taking family portraits was not in the her plans! I was really glad to watch the photographer work patiently around any issues and make light of what might otherwise be really uncomfortable situations. This helped everyone stay at ease. The photos were great, as I expected, but the experience of having someone work with me through the ordeal of making a great family portrait was even better. LaViera photography is nothing short of the best company I've ever had the pleasure of hiring. I've hired them for both professional and personal shoots and they have aimed to please every time! My professional shots came out AMAZING! The photographer was one of the most personable people that I can imagine in the field. I have been fortunate enough to witness some of the most amazing images, and this was done at the most important event in my life; my wedding! LaViera Photography arrived hours before the actually ceremony. My groomsmen and I were placed in a room at the Crows Nest, with plenty of time to take photos and prepare for the ceremony. One of the items on my bucket list was to have a photo shoot featuring ME. There was no special occasion, I wasn't getting married (yet), no baby (yet). Just a shoot with photos of myself. That sounds a little narcissistic, but as someone who tends to dodge the camera, this was a HUGE step. I came across LaViera Photography and after seeing photos on their website I was sold. On the day of my shoot the photog made me feel very comfortable and empowered even! We took quite a few shots both indoors and outdoors including a few wardrobe changes. LaViera did an excellent job at our wedding and we definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. Although we were contracted for just her and an assistant, she brought two assistants. She was at the hotel on time in the morning and did a beautiful job taking pictures pictures. She did a beautiful at the church. The pictures from the formals are priceless - she was animated and made taking pictures fun for everyone. She got pictures of everyone at the reception as well as all of our family members. After the wedding she provided us with the digital masters at no additional charge. Our guests could also browse through the online photo album and order pictures. Our pictures are much much better than our friend's pictures from their weddings. We just had our first baby girl. Jinnellys shot our wedding and we loved the photos so naturally we booked her to cover this important time of our lives. We had our maternity shots covered, then the birth announcement photos, and then our first family portrait. We are totally enamored by the photos and have enlarged several of the photos for our baby's room. Having our wedding covered so beautifully and now this momentous time in our lives has made us feel like we have been able to record the most emotional times in our lives. It was important to me and my fiance that we also got along with the photographer, so we were looking to get more familiar with them during our engagement shoot, which we did. The shoot was relaxed, laid back and fun. Also the pictures were real natural and showed our personality. They worked really well with all of our vendors during our wedding day and we got our pictures back from our wedding within two weeks. If i had to choose them again I would and I have recently referred them to my best friend who is popping the big question this summer. First LaViera did my daughter's maternity shoot, later that year my grandchild was born and it was by far one of the most momentous moments of my life! I wanted to share it with the whole world. LaViera was wonderful. Photographers were on time, attentive, professional, and friendly. Our event ran a little over on the timing due to a kitchen problem, but they still stayed to get the shots we wanted at the end. The formals came out amazing! So creative, and artistic. Not just your ordinary poses, but fun ones, and artsy ones. My only problem is trying to narrow down the shots to a manageable album-not a bad problem to have. There are so many beautiful pictures. We are getting married in CT, however we live out of the country, so making arrangements for engagement photos has been almost impossible, not to mention meeting with vendors.
