I messaged the owner, Sarah, on Instagram about a month ago after seeing some of her work. I showed her what I liked, sent a picture of my hair, and told her what had been done in the past year. She directed me to book full balayage. I showed up last Wednesday for my full balayage and asked her to also add in some layers which she said she would charge me for a partial haircut. I showed her the pictures again of what I was hoping for (will add them in the review) and I thought we were on the same page. I kept using words such as "natural" and said that I liked my current hair it just needed some life back to it. I prefer auburn tones or even reddish brown and have never/will never want vibrant fake colors in my hair. On my way home I was a little in shock with how purple I felt my hair turned out. I also had color all over my face which you can see partly in the picture I blacked my face out. I took a few days to really look at my hair... and I didn't like it at all because it felt purple! Or even dark magenta. I paid $435 with partial haircut and tip. Balayage was $325. I requested a refund after deciding I didn't want Sarah to fix it, which she had offered to do, but because of how bad my hair looked even in a pony tail and I have three kids and don't have all of the time in the world... I didn't want to go that route. She has issued(I'm waiting to see it) a $259 refund. Sarah was nice, but I won't be going back. read more

After moving to the area i was happy to find Lavish Studios as one of the better quality hair salons for the small town area. I went to Sarah (owner) for hair color, cut, eyebrows and even tried out the spray tan. i was always content with the results however, expect to pay high DC prices for average quality and a very unprofessional environment. If you don't want to feel like you are getting your hair done in the middle of an out of control daycare, then I definitely would not go here. I refrained from writing any reviews in the past because I could always tell Sarah was trying her best, just overwhelmed while trying to run a business, with little help, and trying to watch her kids while doing your hair. Which would have been fine if only one time, but every single time I went here, including friends I referred to her, had the same experience of her kids running around having tantrums, requiring Sarah to stop mid service several times to tend to her kids, and one time to the point where I was accidentally locked in the tanning room while undressed because her son, screaming and crying, kept trying to break into the room while Sarah attempted to give a spray tan. Although chaotic, I was left will little options in the area, and assumed it would get better as Sarah built out the business. However, the worst of it was I had contracted her for hair and makeup services for my upcoming wedding where we discussed multiple times the services and prices offered and had it all in writing in a signed contract, 9-months prior to wedding. As it got closer, I kept having to follow-up to confirm details but would typically have to schedule an in-person service appointment to even talk with her since texts/calls were not answered, and each time we spoke she would attempt to sneak in a pricing change that was initially agreed to/in contract. She had assured me the makeup artist was booked and would be contacting me for a trial, but would not give me her direct contact info. And continued to tell me she spoke with her and that she didn't know why she hadn't contacted me yet for a trial. When I was only a month out I decided to contact her directly myself via Instagram, only to find out that the makeup artist was never spoken to about my wedding, never saw the contact, and that Sarah was actually charging me double the price of what the makeup artist had agreed to. When I tried confronting Sarah about this, mostly just to ensure the contract was fair/the makeup artist would be appropriately paid for her services and actually shown the contract, Sarah blamed the makeup artist that it was her mixup and her that was changing pricing. Sarah said she would speak with her and reassured that everything would be settled for the wedding. However, the next day I get an email from Sarah saying she could no longer meet my expectations (which btw had not changed from when the contact was signed and deposit paid several months prior). In complete surprise and confusion, I tried replying to her email and calling her multiple times to seek clarity but she refused to speak to me (even to a point where i had to call from my spouse's phone for her to answer, then immediately hung up when I identified myself... very sketch) and put up a fight to even get my deposit back. She was ignoring both mine and the makeup artist's calls. It was clear she was caught in a lie, attempting to make extra commission from the makeup services and only paying half portion to the artist. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional business owner, and disrespectful cruel person to back out of a contract weeks before a wedding, leaving me without any options to rebook another stylist with it being so last minute. The stress this caused leading up to the wedding and even the mess it caused on the wedding morning, is absolutely unforgivable. If she didn't think it was worth her time to do my hair the morning of wedding, she should never have signed a contract with me to allow me to find someone who would have actually been dependable and honest. 100% DO NOT recommend. read more

I'm writing this because my fiancé doesn't deserve the treatment and cause of grief and frustration that Sarah, the owner of this establishment, has given her, Sarah was booked to service my fiancé's hair on our wedding day, where a contract was drawn up in January. Sarah also stated in the contract that she was reserving the makeup artist. Recently, upon speaking with the makeup artist, it turns out that Sarah was overcharging us for the makeup artist, and the makeup artist had not been contacted to perform services (contract drawn up in January, makeup artist was contacted by my fiancé in JULY as she had not been contacted about a trial run. The makeup artist had lower prices and had not been reserved by Sarah). On top of that, Sarah was reneging on agreements made in her very own signed contract--attempting to add costs. Very sketchy. So, after conversations about this, which were amicable, Sarah decided passive aggressively (maybe because either she was caught in a lie or simply doesn't know how to run a business?), that she will no longer provide services for the wedding, breaching her contract with my fiancé. This woman is unorganized, and as I have been told, your 'spa day' is like sitting in a daycare. She may be good at hair, but she cannot be trusted with any sort of business--a very untrustworthy person. At this point, we are at a loss and now have to add the stress of finding someone on top of everything else going on. On top of this, Sarah will not pick up the phone, and even hung up on her once, since at this point we are just trying to get our deposit back. Perhaps, Sarah's sense of empathy is on par with her ability to run a business. If you're thinking about getting her for your wedding, you've been forewarned. (Note: I wrote this before the wedding because I was so angry but did not post. I don't like when people are pushed into a corner without time to change plans, especially for a once in a lifetime event. It's one thing to mess up a haircut, it's another to tarnish a memory forever. She literally ruined the part of the wedding day that is supposed to be special for the bride other than the wedding. AMAZING EXPERIENCE. I had never gotten lashes before and I rarely would get facials. I came to Lavish Studios not knowing what to expect with fake eyelashes. I was nervous at first and Kerri and Haley were so wonderful with me. They went through the process step by step and never once seemed frustrated with all of my questions. I couldn't thank them enough for comforting me and now providing me with BEAUTIFUL LASHES. They are amazing all around. Now about the facials I had some before but when I received my first one here they were very concerned with allergies (you fill a form out before anyways ) but it made me really happy that they would ask again and provide you with the ingredients ensuring you wouldn't break out. Venue -- Lavish Studios is very inviting, relaxing, and clean. The ladies here are amazing, I highly recommend coming here! Kerri is amazing! I've been going to Kerri since June 2019 and have gotten multiple services done with her (lash lift, demi set, classic set and brow tinting). Her attention to detail never fails to amaze me and she never rushes through my appointments. She makes sure that I'm comfortable during my appointment and satisfied with the outcome.
