I have tried many nails salons in this area but Lavo Lounge puts them all to shame! For a long time I was bouncing around from salon to salon. Some were great for a short while but after some time started falling short of my standards. That has not been the case here. I have been booking services at Lavo for around 5 months now and my nails have never looked better. For starters, they have an all-star receptionist. She is so kind and helpful and on top of her job! They are a very busy salon and yet I never have trouble booking an appointment. They are as accommodating as can be. Even when they miss my phone call, I instantly receive a call or text back. I have been serviced by several nail technicians and they are all so very talented. I never bother booking with a specific tech because I know that no matter who I see, they will do an amazing job I was recommended doing soft gel manicures and it has been the best decision ever made. My career is very physical so i would often have a lot of wear and tear on my nails but not with soft gel. The gel polish never chips and my nails have never been stronger. I am usually able to go 4 weeks with my nails still looking great but ready for a fill. I love this salon and as long as I live within a drivable distance I will never change. They are cash or zelle/venmo only. So be prepared. And in my opinion they are charging fairly for services considering the quality of the work. Thanks Lavo! read more

Very unpleasant experience. I got my nails done on Thursday, by that Saturday my nails were chipping. I got a gel French manicure and a regular pedicure. First issue, they tried charging me $15 more than what I was meant to pay. Thankfully, I knew that sounded off so I asked for a breakdown which I then informed them that that's $15 over the price I should be paying 2 days after the manicure - Saturday - about 4 to 5 nails were chipped and peeling off. This was my first time coming to the salon in over two years and I will never be returning. I spent around almost $100 on such a horrible job. I get my nails done pretty regularly and this has never ever happened before. I went back to get them fixed on Tuesday. One hour after getting them fixed, they were chipping again. I am beyond frustrated. I called and asked for a full refund, a waste of time and a waste of money and horrible quality work. They refunded me $15. read more

I've gone here once or twice before the pandemic and twice so far in June and July. Lavo is located off of Route 1 in a strip mall that has a red roof. They don't accept walk-ins at the moment. To make an appointment, give them a call and they'll schedule you in. You have to wear a mask during your appointment, so keep that in mind. They have other procedures that you have to follow, so be sure to familiarize yourself with them! Don't get other patrons sick, thanks! Anyway. I've had two pedicures done. I recently visited LAVO Nail Lounge with my 22-month old daughter and was extremely disappointed by the staff, specifically my nail tech Christina and the owner of the salon, Lanah. While the service was acceptable, they seemed unprepared to accommodate parents with kids. When my daughter became restless, instead of offering support or showing empathy, they seemed very annoyed. It was never mentioned to me that I can choose which service I would prefer to do first, because I did have a plan in mind but never given the option. This has made our visit less than enjoyable due to their lack of empathy, As a mom I understand that nail salons can be a place to unwind but can be challenging when children become upset. During my appointment my daughter started crying and instead of offering support, Christina remarked under her breath to Lanah whether I was made aware of there "second person policy" which I was never informed of or ever heard of until today which felt dismissive and unhelpful in that moment. I found my new nail place!! I lived in upstate NY for two years and since moving back to NJ, have been on the lookout for a new nail salon. I found Lavo on Yelp and am so glad I did!! It was super easy to book an appointment through the phone and I got one the same day, but I would definitely call a few days ahead going forward. Christina did my nails- first of all, she is so sweet! She did an amazing job- she is super detail-oriented, gentle, quick, and did exactly what I asked for. I got ANC dip powder ($45) and the oval shape was an additional $5, so it came to $50 excluding the tip. I can be a perfectionist when it comes to my nails, but I'm so impressed that Christina made the ANC is super smooth and perfectly buffed (sometimes ANC can look uneven if not done well), also these are my real nails, no tips for the first time in months!! I really wanted to like this place. However, I don't believe they value their customers or maybe they just care about any new customers. I found this salon on Yelp & they're one of the only places that do gel x, which is what I've been doing for the last couple years. I moved from LA and it's so easy to get gel x done out there but not here. I called and asked to book an appointment and the receptionist let me know the gel x technician wasn't taking any new clients, but she could squeeze me in the next day. This was probably the first red flag, but I thought maybe it was meant to be since she happened to have an opening. I also thought it was kind of unnecessary to tell me this. Like do you want my business or not. Nonetheless, I went ahead and booked the appointment. I arrived for my appointment and was immediately helped by the technician, Michael. He did a great job on my nails. I called back 3 weeks later to get a fill, but they were closed due to construction. I was finally able to get through a week later and wanted to book an appointment for a new set. The receptionist let me know once again Michael wasn't accepting new clients, but there happened to be an opening again, so he could take me a couple days later. I asked for an appointment on Friday or Saturday and she said the only day I could come in was Thursday, which was weird. I've never had to work around a nail tech's schedule but I re-arranged some things and came in at the time she specified. She also told me he didn't have time for a new set, so I had to do a fill. Personally, I thought this was weird and a little off putting. Michael had already done my nails, and I wasn't aware he wasn't going to be able to do my nails again since he's not accepting new clients. I thought since he did my nails a couple weeks prior, I was now his client and he'd be able to do my nails moving forward, but I guess that wasn't the case. I wish she would've said Michael will do your nails this once, but if you need them done again you'll have to find somewhere else to go. The receptionist said Michael is the only gel x technician. My appointment time came & I went in and Michael did my nails. They came out great. I decided I didn't want to deal the whole Michael isn't accepting clients thing, so I decided to remove my gel x nails and simply do gel. I called a week prior and asked if I could get my gel x removed and do a gel mani & do a pedi for myself and someone else. She said they couldn't do two people that day. We would have to come in sometime during the week for them to accommodate us. I told her the other person works during the week and wouldn't be able to come in and her answer was essentially that she didn't care and couldn't help. This place is so strange and maybe they have a fully booked clientele so they're not interested in new business. I've never heard of nail salons not wanting to do nails and treating customers like like you're bothering them by booking an appointment. Every other nail salon is happy to do your nails. They may not be able to do a specific time you ask for, but they will definitely get you in the day. Usually they just say come in an hour before or an hour after you ask for a specific time. This place will tell you to come in Tuesday at 3:15 or don't get your nails done. Anyway, I decided to get my gel x removed on a Thursday at 9am (the only day and time she could find an appointment), and I decided to get a pedi done at a different nail salon. Unfortunately I won't be coming back here. They really treat new customers like you're bothering them and they don't want to do your nails, which is a very off putting. The place is cute and Michael did a great job on my nails, but don't waste your time. If you come here be prepared to work around their schedule because they don't care about yours. They will give you an exact day and time you have to come and will not be flexible with you. There are so many great nails salons throughout Jersey. I wouldn't waste your time coming here. I've been coming here for a year and I like that all their techs are very talented and do the best designs. I absolutely love my technician. BUT the owners/management have terrible customer service. They canceled my appointment yesterday to accommodate the appointment before me today because they said her appointment will be four hours. They asked me last minute to change to a late time but I couldn't because of my children. They went ahead and argued back and forth with me that the person made her appointment two months in advance and I only made my appointment a month in advance. Really?! They had the audacity to tell me this. This is the busiest time of the year and its difficult to make appointments anywhere. They also told me because I had a sick husband, I was going to expose the staff, yet I have been out of state, away from my family for a week. I'm pretty sure they would have asked for my flight tickets for proof. They tried every excuse to change or cancel me. They made me feel it was my fault for not being able to work around them. They do not value your business. For the twenty years I've gotten my nails done, no one has ever told me to move myself the day before so they can accommodate the appointment before me. Instead, they should tell that appointment they can not do her four hour detailed nail job because they have other clients and appointments. After my first impression of this salon I came back for two fills for my hard gel. I wanted to try a different technician, Both times I sat with Lori who very obviously cared to get me whatever color or design I wanted and tolerated my questions very well. Lori is super pleasant and twice now I've left with beautiful nails. She helped repaired 2 of my nails that started lifting since I waited 4 weeks to get them filled again. Takes a little over an hour and they have a great selection of colors. I highly recommend getting your nails done by Lori. Came here from a recommendation of a friend. Asked for dip powder when I made the appointment, and told her my nails were too short. I even included in the comments when I made requested the appointment to " add length to nails"..see pic attached. I walk in, sit down and my nail tech was so sweet. Everything was great until I told her I wanted dip powder but to add length as my nails were too short. She got up and went to speak with the receptionist and came back .She was annoyed and said I should have specified I wanted extensions when I made the appointment. I said I was sorry and kept calm. It's not a gel manicure or something simpler, dip powder is a long and expensive process. Why would I want dip powder on my stubby short nails? If you're looking for Gel X they have them here which is what I get. The place is super clean, pretty and relaxing. Anyone who frequently gets their nails done knows that a great salon is a diamond in the rough. It's nearly impossible to find a place that offers great customer service and a variety of color choices while still being cleanly. My experience at Lavo Nail Lounge checks off all of those boxes, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I came here at around 11am on a Saturday. They were definitely very busy, but thankfully someone was able to see me right away. The manicurist who did my nails was very meticulous and did an excellent job shaping them and fully coating them in gel polish. This is the first time I've had a gel manicure that didn't already have air/dirt bubbles on it before even leaving the salon, so that's a major plus as well. (I even refer this place to many people when they can't get appt to the of salon that I go to or think it's too far) Yesterday I decided to call early to see if (Gia) have availability that day, and they said she is fully booked this week, all of them are (which I don't mind if I can't get an appt) but after having small talks with Lana (the owner) then she told me, I can send my design over through DM on Instagram and if they have last cancellations or opening they can let me know. Couple hours later, she reached out to me and say they have an opening later in that afternoon. When 3:30pm come, I came in, I was very excited and happy! But once I stepped in, I can feel a bad vibe already (but continue to think positive.) They told me to wait in the waxing chair for couple min, and then a lady came over and tell me she's ready to take me. As I sat down, I continue to feel this bad energy (especially from my nail tech) and somehow have a feeling my nail tech is not Gia LOL. I then asked what her name was and all I can hear is mumbling. When I continue to ask, so I can get her name right, she decided to ignore me and give me a look. Once she start working on my nails, I knew she wasn't good. I told her to not cut my nails and just reshape them (I have almond nails) as she continue to work on my nails, she ask me if I was round or pointy and I said whatever you think is nice (I say this because back in my og salon, I would leave 85% of the work to my nail tech. Because I expect these nail tech to be professional and know what look best) and then she gave me an attitude saying, "pointy or round?!" And I just replied, "round." Long story short, when she started working on my design, somehow, my feeling was proven right..SHE IS NOT GOOD.. I try to fix what she's doing one time and stopped myself cause I didn't want to be rude and then, she goes, "what? What happen, tell me! You have to tell me what you want or if you don't like!" So from there, i tell her what I told like and that's when she call Lana over. Then I asked Lana, to compare my current nail, with the design photo I requested. I told her that my nail doesn't look like the design I requested, mine looked tacky and ugly. Lana offer to fix my nail, if I'm willing to wait, by this time, I wanted to just put top coat, pay and leave as it is. But Lana insisted for me to wait so she can fix my nails. Come to the end of my session, I asked how much, and she said $76.That's when lowkey, I was shocked!$76. for acrylic fill and me sitting around waiting etc. but since I don't want to throw a fuss, I pay and even give MEGAN a tip.. (oh by this time, it was already 6:20pm) then since I'm a bit curious, I asked her, "this is for my acrylic fill right?" And she said, "yes, and you get the French tip and the designs on all nails." And I just go, ok, thank you! OVERALL, PLEASE DON'T GO HERE. THIS PLACE IS TOO HYPE AND THEY'RE NOT EVEN THAT GOOD. PLUS THEY HAVE MEGAN WHO IS RUDE. There are so many other nail salon that can do much better design than this place (also more friendly) I regret recommending people to this place starting from now, I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ANYMORE! with the nails that I got, I would pay only $45-55 for it. Where do I begin... I was in search of a new salon. When I tried to make an appointment, they were always booked- which is a good thing right?! So I made an appointment and asked for the best person since I was new to the salon. The receptionist gave me Megan. She works hard and quick. She doesn't talk to you and when she does, you have no idea what she is saying. She's a no frills kinda of person. My nails never lasted 2 weeks. She never made an effort to make sure my real nails were connected to the gel so often I left the salon with gaps. The last time I went she was down right rude. I had an amazing experience here so I felt compelled to give them a nice review for reg pedicure. I'm not from this area but when I'm in town I like to pamper myself away from the city. I normally go elsewhere for my nails in Edison but that spot is so popular now I can barely get my girl so I dropped by Lavo out of whim. The interior is nicely designed and decorated. I love the bright and clean wall, flooring, tables, chandelier and pretty much everything that makes this salon look calm and clean like a spa. They use new set of cuticle tools and disposable pedi sink wrap for hygiene. My pedi was nicely done. The color is beautiful and most importantly all my cuticles and dead skin were removed. My technician (not naming, lesson learned!) was very thorough and took her time to make sure the quality is there. Will definitely return next time I'm in town! read more

So I wanted to re do my dip powder. But wanted to try someplace new.. Spoiler alert! This may be my new spot. Super excited. But I'm getting ahead of my self. I called ahead and told to come right over. I'm glad I called cause as walk ins came in I could hear them say well I have 3 appointments coming at 12 we wouldn't be able to do you till 1. Now as some may be put off by that I LOVE that. That tells me if I make an appointment you wiolndo your best to honor it. Instead of seating someone 1mins before my appointment for a hour long service and when just oh well to me. So personally I like this. Place was cute and well decorated not big though so I would definitely reccomend calling first to see If they can take you. Only bad thing was it was very dusty even the work tables like no one really was bothered by this.. Well I was but no one else seemed to mind. Dip powder removal was easy much like removing gel sat there with the cotton and foil on for 15 mins... Then removed the rest with a file. They have a nice array of colors which I loved. I have been looking for THIS nail salon for over 7+ years in NJ. It reminds me of salons I used to go to when I lived near Park Slope. Pristine stations, modern/classy decor and genuinely friendly staff. Added bonus, they are locates about 10 mins from my house!!!! I called and made an appointment for 12pm on a Sun. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Michael and asked to look for my color on the nail wheels, he even got up from an appointment to bring more wheeels without me even asking. I was immediately impressed with the waiting area seats, new and comfortable without being overly plush. Also noticed near the door a water station for clients to help themselves. It was a bit busy but not crowded. By the time I left around 2pm, they were in full swing, all stations had a client and a few walk ins were patiently waiting their turn. I was then asked to sit at Lana's station, who greeted me warmly and asked about what I was looking for today. We immediately fell into an easy repour and chatted easily as she removed old gel polish and prepped my nails for a full gel set. After she was done, she asked if she could have Megan finish my set as she had to jump in to help with some other customers. I said no problem and scooted a seat down to Megan's station. Megan greeted me warmly as well and once again, I found myself having a funny yet personable conversation. The talented, effervescent Megan...this woman is meticulous with her craft. A characteristic one would assume someone in this industry would have yet most do not. This wasn't my first full gel/acrylic nail set rodeo (20 years in the acrylic gel nail game) and she has techniques I had never seen before. She was gentle with the drill and thorough in shaping and providing even, full polish. My nails are so smooth, no bumps, not too thin or thick, the polish is coated evenly on the sides (a place a lot of manicurist miss)! Price was more than I expected but after reading another review on here I was prepared for each part of the service to be tallied individually: $75 total for nail confin shape, full gel set, gel nail polish removal, gel polish and 4 nails with chrome polish. I am a big believer you get what you pay for and for the initial investment, this was worth it to me. Going into a new salon normally gives me a bit of agita. I am normally reserved and cautious after SO MANY bad experiences. But here, I was immediately comfortable and my spirit at ease. This is my first time. I hadn't gotten my nails done in a very long time, but I decided to treat myself so I got a color gel manicure. I made an appointment, But I still had to wait 35 minutes. The owner was extremely welcoming and nice, so kudos to her. However, the woman who did my nails was absolutely horrible. I asked for a almond-shaped nails, and she did not know how file it that way. She had to ask that nail technician next to her to show her how to do it. Knowing that that would be her first time filing almond shape nails, I asked for oval shape nails instead. However she continued to try to file my nails and ended up filing my skin, giving me a cut. After I told her the cut stung from the pH balancer that she put on my nail, she proceeded to put nail polish remover on the cut as well, which stung like hell. However, this was not the worst part - she got POLISH ON THE CUT AND SCRAPED IT OUT WITH HER DIRTY FINGERNAIL. Although the nail salon seemed sanitary, this was most definitely not OK. I thought my crooked nails were going to be the worst part of this experience, and it turned out it was not, which is a even more disappointing. I would only go here if my nail tech was the man who helped her- he seemed to do a great job with the client sitting next to me. Nonetheless, I won't be returning. This is my first time here. I read a bunch of reviews thought I come and try this place out. I got my nails done by Megan. I'm so glade I came. She took her time and give me exactly what I want. I show her a design and told her she doesn't have to do the same one but she said if I like it she will do it. If I show that design to anyone else they would probably convince me to do something else. The price is a little pricey than what I'm used to. But I will definitely come again and will recommend others to come too. read more

Today was my first time at Lavo Nail Lounge, and so far I must say I had a good experience. I initially wanted to book an appointment with Michael or Lana, yet they were booked. So I was schedule with Lori. Let's start from the beginning, I wanted dip powder, and wanted a specific green that I saw with gel colors not dip. Lori seemed as if she couldn't help me with finding the same exact green in the dip powder which was frustrating a little. Because this was my first time ever getting dip powder and at this salon so I didn't know what my options were. Lori told me if it wasn't on the nail ring then they didn't have the color. Which wasn't true because while she was doing my nails I turned around to look at the powder colors and there was a similar green to the gel polish I picked. However since I was informed that they did indeed have the color in the dip powder, I told Lori I will get gel instead. She seemed annoyed by the sudden change. This was the only situation where I senses agitation. Once Lori started my nails, she took her time with painting each nail, making sure the coats were even, filed, and cuticles were cleaned. This was a great turn around from what I experienced in the beginning with her. She didn't chat much, which is okay for me because I personally use this time to relax and gather my thoughts. She did my pedicure in the same manner that she did my nails (i.e., with patience)! I scheduled my second appointment with her, because overall she did an amazing job on my nails! read more

I found out about Lavo through an old friend on Instagram. I kept seeing her nails and the beautiful, different designs on her stories and wanted to give them a try. Once I did- I never turned back to my old nail salon. They are super clean, they listen (that's super important) and they are all super friendly. At my old nail salon, I sometimes got a small cut on my cuticle or my toes from a pedicure- but here, NOTHING! They are truly an amazing team of technicians- super gentle and any one you go to, you can strike up a conversation and it seems like you have known them for so long! Once you see those new and fresh nails, You know that they are all about their customers by the work they produce. Not one person that I had referred there had one complaint. It's a nail salon of all of our dreams! Their work is truly one of a kind. You won't be disappointed here, that's a fact. read more
