I was a client of Rebecca Gouge. After confronting her about her unpreparedness and her…read moremisunderstanding of law (which was confirmed as true by the DA), she emailed me stating she could NOT ETHICALLY REPRESENT ME. At the hearing she told the court she needs to withdraw but when asked to proceed with the hearing by the court, she agreed to do so after she said she could not ethically represent me. By her stating she cannot ethically represent me and then representing me, she UNETHICALLY represented me. The hearing was critical to my case and her lack of understanding of the law and unpreparedness caused the judge to rule in the DA's favor. While she was my attorney she made outrageous recorded statements like...I don't have the time or resources to handle your case...If you had the money to hire an attorney, you would own these people... I still have to work here after your case is over (referring to the fact that she did not want to confront the DA and court for their actions because of the repercussions she would face if she did so)... This attorney is working for the state. If you hire her, you might as well hire the DA (Erik Knapp). She does not fight for her client's interest. I would give zero stars if it allowed me to. My dear (77 yr old) friend had a meeting with Mr Huffman to create a living. That was nearly 6…read moremonths ago. She did not receive follow-up correspondence from him or their office. Nearly 3 months after, she had inquired as to the progress of her trust and was told that Mr Huffman had been "pulled away" to another project and would work on it soon. Nearly 2 more months went by without correspondence from him or the firm. My friend realized that her trust creation was of low priority to Mr Huffman, so she called to request a refund for the work not being completed. She was denied a refund, being told the work was (nearly) complete. With this extreme delay and lack of care shown, my friend had little confidence or trust in his work going forward. After having 6 months of her precious time wasted by Mr Huffman, she has hired a new attorney to create her living trust. I'm confused as to why any attorney would not consider it a priority to complete a living trust for their 77 yr old client? Why commit to the work, then not deliver in a timely manner? As there was no prior consultation, why did Mr Huffman insist she pay in advance of any work being done? These questions will be posed to the Oregon State Bar Association when her complaint is filed.
