I highly recommend stopping into Lawadessa if you're looking for quality Middle Eastern food. The restaurant here is quite small, yet busy, and seems to do a fair number of takeout/pickup orders, but the menu is full of great options, and the portion sizes were large enough that I was able to make a second meal out of it. I ordered their chicken shawarma meal plate, which comes with chicken, rice pilaf, a side salad, hummus, and a pita. The chicken is topped with a hefty amount of their garlic cream sauce, which is absolutely fantastic. The only real area of improvement I think I could recommend here would be the service. The staff wasn't overly friendly or inviting, didn't show any warm welcome to guests, and seemed a bit irritated at the counter. Where do I even begin? Charbel and Lawadessa catered my wedding recently and over the course of the last few months, I've visited and eaten at Lawadessa several times. First of all, the food is incredible. Everytime I've visited, I had something different and each time it blew me away: the shawarma (especially the special shawarma wrap) may be the best in all of New England! Mousaka is great (especially to share), the mixed kabab are phenomenal, and the toshka are addictive - I could eat those all day. As amazing as the food is, what truly sets Lawadessa apart is Charbel and his team. Working with him on our wedding was awesome. He went above and beyond to make the experience special: he was kind, flexible, and worked with us on our vision for the event. The presentation of the food was beautiful and guests couldn't stop raving about how great it tasted. At one point, we even ran out of plates (probably because so many people went back for seconds and thirds!) and Charbel ran out to get more. That kind of care and dedication meant a lot to us. Lawadessa has become a place I built into my regular routine of restaurants and I'm going to be a life long customer. If you're driving from the Boston area like I am, it's well worth a visit. We came mid afternoon on a Sunday and we're the only ones sitting but there was clearly a lot of take out being picked up while we ate. Service was prompt and easy. My eyes are bad so looking at the hung menu was hard, they had a regular menu on the counter where you order. I really liked the way it was decorated. Middle Eastern food is always a good time. If you haven't had Middle Eastern food, you're missing out :P. Lawadessa never fails at bringing me joy as I eat their mixed shawarma or chicken shawarma plate with their signature white creamy sauce drizzled over the meat with the bottom having a bed of rice pilaf, a small salad and a portion of hummus. They give you pita bread to make your own pita pocket of goodness, but I always get more because their pita is delicious and fresh. I still remember my first bite!! I had just recently moved into my boyfriend's mom's house and she kept raving about how good their food was. One day, we got take out and she got me the chicken shawarma plate with the two sides I mentioned earlier. My eyes grew wide with glee and I realized what a treat I was in for.
