We shared a summer vegetable pizza which was delicious - flavorful and just the right ratio of cheese and toppings. We also had a garden salad with falafel. It wasn't crowded on a weekday, so we were able to claim a pretty large table and a lot of space for some of the kids to run around. There was a nice variety of beers unsurprisingly - which were very tasty. The space is really large with multiple subsections and would probably be a great place for a larger event as well.

Have you ever gone to an…read moreestablishment and felt like you must have missed the sign on the door that had a picture of your face on it that read "DO NOT SERVE"? Because that's essentially how we were treated by our server. She was an older woman with brow hair and the coldest demeanor I have ever encountered in a brewery or restaurant setting. It took fifteen minutes to get menus and another twenty minutes until I got up and just went straight to the bar to order our drinks and food. I know--at that point we should have left, but we have been here before and enjoyed the beer. We tried to politely get her attention several times, and I swear each time she would zoom right by us or even take a totally different path among tables. Like I said, I took my business straight up to the bar and the bartender was super sweet and put our order in and brought our drinks in a couple of minutes. The OG waitress came back with the food order and slammed some napkins down on the table and trotted off. My friend and I both just stared at each other and laughed. We were sitting at a communal table alongside a couple and the gentleman said, "She's got a gentle touch, doesn't she?" We had a good laugh, but the couple confirmed that this had been the vibe since they arrived a half hour before us. In that respect, I guess the OG waitress helped to build community last night, leaving us not to wonder, "Did we do something wrong," but rather, "Woof, wonder what's wrong in her world." It didn't last long though. She stopped by once at last call to which my friend immediately declined. The OG waitress then brought the checks for both parties, though oddly, she collected the couples next to us and the folks behind us, but not ours. We watched the couple leave and the table behind us, and again, we watched the OG waitress totally avoid eye contact and literally clear half our table and surrounding trash, but seemed to be adamant about not taking our cards to process. So again, we traveled to the bar to settle up and leave. The OG waitress came up and was talking to the bartender and clearly stated, "Next time, I'm not doing this. I'm going to be behind the bar and you're gonna be running the floor." Boy, we do love a lack of accountability and a poor team player! In regard to the beer, I ordered the Cape House, which was OK and my friend ordered the Vanilla Cream Madagascar which she really did enjoy. We ordered wings and queso. The wings were super dry and came with what was a low quality, store bought blue cheese dip. The queso cheese was really disappointing--it had a pleasant kick to it, but it also had a grainy texture. The tortilla chips that came with the queso were stale! Unfortunately, I will be back here as they also charged my card TWICE last night. Wish me luck!

The Lobster Mac & Cheese was outstanding, honestly better than what I've had at places like Capital Grille. Add in the fresh, delicious bread, and the meal starts off perfectly. When it comes to steaks, I rarely eat out because I have a paranoia of being let down. I always buy my meat from a butcher and cook them beautifully on a charcoal (yes, if you cook on propane it's not actually grilling - poser) grill. This trip to Amelias reinforced why I shouldn't stray from handling good meat myself. The place itself is cool, my grandmother was very impressed which is honestly all that matters. Of course she was enamored by the bread options and the whipped butter with olive oil was honestly a nice touch. I ordered a bottle of pellegrino and was surprised the waitress never topped me off (get your mind out of the gutter). Whatever, I had to serve my own drink but at a place of that caliber you'd think the wait staff would understand that when a bottle of any sort is purchased they should be asking the diners if they'd like a refill. We ordered the tuna tartare and my grandmother had never even heard of such a dish before. She enjoyed a bite and then I inhaled the rest - yes I am fat and hungry NOT SORRY. We ordered our steaks and I got excited too soon. I can't help but shake my head, I NEVER get steaks out any more because even at steak houses I am most often let down. I am not trying to sound cheap but at $68 a steak I am expecting a melt in your mouth masterpiece (that's what they used to call me back in the day) and honestly the meat we got was a MAJOR let down. Steak alone has it's flavor and this piece was lacking. They overcooked it and it was genuinely tough even with the LITTLE pink they allowed me to enjoy. I was really heartbroken but the only reconciliation for this was that my aged grandmother was ecstatic and this meal wasn't for me, it was an attempt to treat my grandmother to what could be one of her last few really special meals. For her it was and that's the only reason I'm not giving this place two stars.

From crisp lagers to bold IPAs, the selection is solid, flavorful, and well-crafted. Whether you're a hop head or just looking for something smooth, there's something here for every palate. Friendly Staff The team behind the bar is welcoming, knowledgeable, and quick to offer recommendations. Service is efficient and upbeat, which adds to the overall positive vibe. Kid Overload Unfortunately, the atmosphere takes a hit. At 6:00 pm 8:00, the taproom felt more like a daycare than a brewery. Tables were dominated by birthday parties and families with small children eating cupcakes. While some may appreciate the family-friendly approach, it's jarring for those expecting a classic bar experience. If you're looking for a chill adult night out, this might not be the spot--especially on weekends. Final Thoughts Castle Island has the bones of a great brewery: excellent beer and great staff. But the overwhelming presence of kids makes it hard to relax or socialize. If they offered adult-only hours or designated family times, it could strike a better balance.
