As a medical student of the osteopathic philosophy I truly value a physician who approaches their patients as more than just lab blood work, but one who investigates a patient on a multi-systematic mind/body/spirit approach. This doctor is not into pushing chemicals out for no good reason and will sit and even make a step-by step diet and nutrition consul for you ( something that you would have to see a nutritionist for) . She cares so much for her patients she even has a system that allows patients to obtain consul, advice, and prescription renewals without seeing . When I asked her why should would do this to the effect that it is unfair for her in terms of payment , she expressed her feelings about how payment was a non-issue when it comes to efficient patient care. This doctor works tirelessly, day and night, in trying to promote health throughout Orange County and practices everything she preaches. She also is brilliant, and a graduate of Columbia Medical School. This doctor will give you advice about health in not just one dimension in regards to prescriptions because her intelligence and intellectual ability are multifaceted. As usual, they called me to confirm this appointment. I confirmed and even asked if the office closes due to possible impending snow storm. "We don't cancel or close unless the doctors decide it's too dangerous". Cool, we don't cancel plans unless the same... Appointment day. We get kids ready to bring with us to the 11am appointment since school was cancelled, and yes, it's been snowing since last last night. No big deal. We get there at 11:06 am to check in. We are seated in area D, and it's the only area with people waiting, and packed. Didn't think anything of it and get settled in to wait. 40 mins later, I finally decide to ask about any clue when we will be seen, she says there's only ONE tech today and everyone waiting is waiting on her. Wow. Ok. I talk it over with my crew in tow, when the nice lady at the desk informs me that there's another tech coming in at noon. At this point the other people waiting overhear, and are also becoming impatient. Finally, at about 11:53 (remember appointment was at 11am) I decide to try and reschedule. My thoughts: -I don't mind waiting. But waiting for an hour to be called in for my 11am appointment, for a procedure they warned me lasts 45 minutes, and they told me to be ready with a full bladder for? -no one came out to check unless you went to ask. It sounded to me that everyone else waiting were also guessing as to why and when. Why couldn't they mention at check-in that they are down to one ultrasound tech and it could be a very long wait? I feel like his would save many peoples time and frustration, and gives a baseline expectation. Seems a bit inconsiderate, kind of unprofessional. So we left. Got up on a snow day, to wait an hour in a doctor's office to not be seen. Hopefully tomorrow I actually get seen. And going forward, hopefully some consideration could be exercised with procedure in front office when short staffed and these types of issues arise.

I am called to the desk and told that I cannot be seen today because the instrument needed for my procedure is broken. I could not believe that they could not have called me to tell me not to come. I had someone drive over an hour to come and get me and another half hour to this office in Middletown. If the instrument was broken on Monday, it was broken on Friday and I should have been called. I made another appointment but after leaving this office I was so disgusted by the obvious lack or courtesy on the part of his office staff that I called and cancelled the appointment. Truth be told, this office seemed very run down looking and it was probably all for the best. I found a very qualified female doctor at Crystal Run Healthcare who did not use any instrument that could have ever been broken to remove my polyp. Negatives: Too many to even capture them all. Extreme wait time before we made it into the actual ER. Ridiculous bathroom situation. Basically a powder room for all patients on the floor. Blood line was not closed and we spilled blood all over the restroom. I informed Nurses station - restroom never cleaned and blood on floor every subsequent restroom visit. Paper towels not replaced over several hours. No regular maintenance. Placed in small room next to a patient who had at least 8 people trying to do a painful procedure on the other side of a curtain. Specimans left out on counter for hours. What's HIPPA? No one ever asked if we needed any food or water even through we were there for 7 hours. No one clearly in charge. Complete mayhem and so disapointing.
