The facility itself is very good! The medical care I have received there has always been excellent. The doctors, surgeons and PAs are all exceptional. The reason I am leaving a negative review is because of the bureaucracy behind the actual healthcare. I have a wife and two children that have all used this healthcare system for the past 20 years. It is the closest and highest rated facility in the Hudson Valley area I happen to live in. Over the 20 years that my family and I have been obtaining healthcare at Crystal Run there has never been a time where I have NOT been billed multiple times for copays I have already paid. There is no doubt that I have over paid 100's of dollars throughout the years because of misplaced receipts or family members not remembering if they paid their copay or not. I have diligently kept records of all my copays over the last 5 years and have tracked how many times I get billed for copays I have already paid. Out of the 37 copays I have paid over that time span I have been billed 37 times for the copays I have already paid! That's right..every single time! My most recent copay bill is on its fourth urgent notice and I paid the bill over two months ago. This is a trend within the healthcare industry in general. Send a bill to the patient even though they have insurance. They are hoping to get paid by the insurance and patient. Very rarely will a patient know if a facility or doctor has been paid twice. My word of advice for anyone reading this insane rant is to NEVER pay a medical bill without obtaining notification from your insurance carrier if the charge is accurate or not!! Just received a reply from CRHC and I am appreciative for the outreach. You may want to consider offering that email address on the invoices you send. If you have the staffing to reply within 48hrs or receipt of a message. Your current listed methods of communications is not very helpful. You list the website of how to pay, which is a clumsy tool and not easy to navigate. Also, listed is a phone number that takes you to the front desk person at the ambulatory surgery center. I have been at the site waiting to get a op procedure and saw and heard the receptionist take a call related to a billing question from an invoice a member received. Now I don't know if your call center consists of this one person or not, but it would account for how many automated messages I get instead of getting a hold of a live person. I know every complaint I listed costs real money to either address of fix. If I have a vote in which to address during your next monthly meeting, I choose to invest in upgrading your billing system. This would probably cost about $100K a year. I figure at least $40K per year for two salaried positions to assist in crediting accounts for payments that were made. My estimate also includes healthcare costs for these new employees. UPDATE--- I left a message two days ago at the number on the invoice regarding my bill..still no call back. I also sent an email to the address the person who replied to my review and no reply from them either since the email was returned as undeliverable. I checked the email address several times and it matches what the bot posted for a reply from CRHC. Now I have to go there in person to have some dolt say they fixed the issue..even though I know they won't and I will get another bill. read more

I've been a patient of Crystal Run Healthcare for 30 years. I've been going to my appointments lately and my experience has been horrible. Most of my original doctors have retired or quit. I have no allegiance to CRH and they seem to not have any allegiance to me. It looks like I'm going to need to change doctors. Unfortunately I have to travel to get new doctors. Shame on you to the previous owners and shame on you Optum. Today I was told I urgently need to schedule an ultrasound and I couldn't find anyone to help me. I am very disappointed in the service I received post visit on 7/17 (lab work 7/10). This visit was a routine physical with routine lab work pre-visit. All findings were within normal range, but no preventative codings were attributed to this visit. No one in Dr. Dros' office would return my call to speak about this coding error, forcing me to pay non-routine co-pays/deductible, up to $70 for the visit and lab work. I do hope Dr. Dros is aware his practice operates in this manner. read more

I cannot give an honest recommendation as each doctor conducts themselves differently. I can say that the check in process is absurd. You are supposed to be sent a password that allows you access to the elevators but if you don't receive your password you can argue the check in lady that you've an appointment. She will then ask if you have a fever and if you say no - your access is granted. You then Have to travel the elevators to the next level of video game bosses and check in to another desk right outside the elevators. This desk asks the same questions. If you answer correctly they tell the suite to go to only to be asked the same set of questions regarding a fever or cough. By this time, you still have yet to see a doctor you just have answers the same set of questions repeatedly. While I get the safety of patients and staff is very serious and I respect that above all, we are all wearing masks and I don't feel it necessary to be screened in three separate areas to be asked the same questions that clearly don't show or value patient safety if the next place is not aware that we already answered these questions. So we are just roaming hallways being asked questioned that no one takes note of or passes along. So what could we possibly change from entering downstairs, going up an elevator and out to another desk? And then to walk through a door to another desk? Has my cough or fever changed. Patient safety is a huge concern but the level to which the staff does it seems unnecessary. It almost seems like a mandate to check off a box that they said it. In fact, a real screening would involve asking questions, taking a temperature and offering hand sanitizer. Working in health care that's more effective for patient and staff safety than three sets of people asking a question that they don't take note of or even look up from the desk to say. Also don't make a password that you clearly don't need to get anywhere as anyone can enter with or without. I am now updating this, since the Business decided to respond to my original post regarding safety and security. In todays appointment (1/12/2023) I was told to text when I arrived and stay in my car. After sending my text, I was met with a return message "please wait for us to call you". After 15 minutes and no call knowing I was now late, I went inside. I didn't need a password. I was only asked if I had a cough. I was directed to the suite to further check in there. Upon arrival at the suite, I was told I was late and should have called. When I furnished the texts that I arrived and was told to wait, the receptionist had no idea. Most types of care under one roof = convenient but... Went to primary once then Urgent Care twice for EXTREME pain. They label my visit as unspecified cough (?) and did a urinalysis on 1st & 2nd visit; x-ray and CT scan on 2nd visit and sent me home. All the while I had a fractured T10 vertebrae and now? Two weeks later, no call, no email response to my numerous calls and emails. When I scheduled to see an orthopedic doctor, the wait was over a month. Simple sleep study turned into a 4 month long ordeal. Random cancellations due to providers who quit with no notice to patients showing up for 'appointments'. Traveling providers roam from one corporation to another with little concern to timely consults or consistency. When this outfit went belly-up a few years ago United Health Care stepped in and began devouring the carcass. one more appointment tomorrow and all my records go to my next health care "provider". read more

Positives: The offices are clean and professional looking. It is nice having all of your records in one place so they can be accessed by your PCP. Doctors seem nice and polite. Negatives: Good luck trying to reach your doctor and having to wait 3-6 months for an appointment just to ask a 30 second question. The "new" patient portal is awful and doctors do not respond to questions in it. You will never have a direct number or email to your doctor's office in the plan, and instead you call a generic number where they message your doctor and the messages go into a void somewhere in the universe so you will never hear back from anyone. For a simple new prescription that your doctor erroneously didn't approve properly in their system and send to the pharmacy, you will waste hours calling repeatedly everyday and still never hear back from anyone. The company is a prime example of assembly line medical care, where the goal is to get as many people in the queue as possible without actually showing any care for the patient. Make sure to get a blood pressure medication prescription before using Crystal Run Healthcare, as you will need it before you are done with them! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would, because 1 star is too much for this place. I went last week for an appointment I had with a doctor that was recommended by my primary doctor. According to this new doctor, I have nothing that everything is common, but my primary doctor gave me a totally different diagnosis. He sent me for more tests, I went to the floor where they schedule the tests and they were not able to schedule the appointment for me, but told me to call. I have been trying for 5 days now to schedule my appointment for the tests but the customer service is beyond terrible. No one wants to work there, no one wants to do their job well, they don't care about letting the patient die. I don't recommend it to anyone. read more

After waiting months to be seen by Dr. Bele the 1st appointment I felt that he was ok, but each appointment after I kept saying that I feel that the medication he had me on was not working as I was still experiencing pain and swelling and he refused to change the medication. Fast forward, I am now experiencing tightening with numbness in my hand which it's very difficult to hold a pen. I was informed by my primary doctor that I should not be taking the medication prescribed if I am not taking the folice acid medication and still Dr. Bele refused to change the medication very rudely saying if I don't like the way he is treating me to find another doctor and that's what I'm doing and I would not recommend Dr. Bele to anyone as he doesn't have any manners in treating patients. read more

I go here for Hearing audiology services/ Ear cleanings. Dr. Carrigan and her coworkers are awesome and knowledgable of the hearing aids they sell. Dr. Carrigan is also good at making people feel calm, and helps throughout the hearing test process. She did make a mistake once of recommending a device that is not a hearing aid, where i would have to undergo surgery. But, since i explained that i don't want to go that route, she's been good and never made that mistake again. Also, i go here every 6 months to clean out my hearing aid, and all the doctors i've seen are very knowledgable and helpful. I've replaced ear molds and other hearing aid stuff through them and they are good. Always do call when parts are ready for pickup, and flexible with appointments. As for ear cleanings, i seen Dr. Rammismaini who is really good. Despite that i don't like doctors using the vaccum to clean out the ears, she knows how to do it slowly, which makes it more comfortable. I also saw a male doctor before that, whom was okay. One time tho he was in Rock Hill and i had an appointment, he was very late. I don't remember if i had to go anywhere, but that is bad, because if i had to go somewhere- well- that's annoying. Also, he never really listened to me as far as my condition: like i asked to have a hearing test every other year because my hearing has been pretty much the same. Oh you should have hearing tests every year. (even dr. carrigan has said that on occasion) Even if it's not using the service as much as the practice or doctor wants it, at least the patient still wants the service, just less. i go to Dr. Lau in monroe now with the ear cleaning, so these issues aren't present really. read more

Thank god I got a second opinion, and didn't take Christopher Han's word for it when he (without much explanation) told to me that I needed an incredibly invasive surgery that I didn't turn out to need. Dr. Cirillo is a walking gem - she is compassionate, intelligent and gives me a sense of relief in times of trouble. She makes sure all your concerns are heard. The patient service representative, Denise on the 4th floor for OBGYN/Obstetrics is extremely rude. Please avoid her because she is a danger to the overall healthcare customer service experience. Denise belittled me, intimidated me and mocked me for being unable to pay my 20$ copay at time of service. Yes, crystal run wants their copay at time of service but there is nothing wrong with having it billed. I have had it billed many times before... healthcare is extremely expensive and her reaction to me is a feeling I will never forget. Mean and heartless people do not belong in healthcare, let alone Crystal Run. Denise needs more training or must be faced with termination. read more

I've never had any major issues with this practice since being a patient here, but I tend rely on reviews, so I figured I'd mention this, in some small hope this could be included as part of a quality control type of survey. 20 week ultrasound has been scheduled since 6 weeks. As usual, they called me to confirm this appointment. I confirmed and even asked if the office closes due to possible impending snow storm. "We don't cancel or close unless the doctors decide it's too dangerous". Cool, we don't cancel plans unless the same... Appointment day. We get kids ready to bring with us to the 11am appointment since school was cancelled, and yes, it's been snowing since last last night. No big deal. We get there at 11:06 am to check in. We are seated in area D, and it's the only area with people waiting, and packed. Didn't think anything of it and get settled in to wait. 40 mins later, I finally decide to ask about any clue when we will be seen, she says there's only ONE tech today and everyone waiting is waiting on her. Wow. Ok. I talk it over with my crew in tow, when the nice lady at the desk informs me that there's another tech coming in at noon. At this point the other people waiting overhear, and are also becoming impatient. Finally, at about 11:53 (remember appointment was at 11am) I decide to try and reschedule. My thoughts: -I don't mind waiting. But waiting for an hour to be called in for my 11am appointment, for a procedure they warned me lasts 45 minutes, and they told me to be ready with a full bladder for? -no one came out to check unless you went to ask. It sounded to me that everyone else waiting were also guessing as to why and when. Why couldn't they mention at check-in that they are down to one ultrasound tech and it could be a very long wait? I feel like his would save many peoples time and frustration, and gives a baseline expectation. Seems a bit inconsiderate, kind of unprofessional. So we left. Got up on a snow day, to wait an hour in a doctor's office to not be seen. Hopefully tomorrow I actually get seen. And going forward, hopefully some consideration could be exercised with procedure in front office when short staffed and these types of issues arise. read more

Case in point: Today I called the billing department to process a payment. A woman by the name of Jasmine processed the payment. When she asked for my billing address I told her it was in Washington, DC. She then asked me what state that was in as she did not grow up in this country. She actually asked if Washington was in Maryland. Jasmine clearly is either a green card holder or a US citizen to be working at Crystal Run but has no clue what the capital of the US is and that the District of Columbia is separate from any US state, nor did she care to know about it. This lack of basic knowledge about the US does not bode well for her and Crystal Run Healthcare. The woman should enroll is a basic class on US history if she is going to make the US her new home. read more

I was not given a full breakdown of the bill at the time I was treated. I was told a "total" and paid what I thought was the bill only to receive another notification a month later that I still owed over $100. For the average person with insurance this probably wouldn't be a big deal but I am paying out of pocket and was surprised by the extra charges. I had the same procedure done at another urgent care several months ago and it cost $140. $354 seems exorbitant and hiding the costs at the time treatment was delivered seems deceptive. I had an prenatal doctors appointment at 9am and I arrived 15 minutes early and I'm still waiting. I had to use the bathroom because the other bathrooms were preoccupied. So I asked the nurse to use the bathroom and mind you I am 9 months pregnant. While I'm going into the bathroom she's asking me a thousand and one questions and then asked for urine. So I told her the urine is in the bathroom hence I just checked in and don't have a room to see the doctor so as I continue to wait and the nurse continues to call patients that came in after me. Chrystal run health care is like a ride a Disney, you have to wait an hour to an hour and a half past your appointment for a ten minute visit with the doctor. I have 4 doctors at C.R. And there all the same, they spend as little time as they have to with you and move on to the next patient, and have two or three patients in rooms waiting. That's the main reason why I won't allow them to do surgery on me, if they can't spend 15 minutes with me in a room are they going to rush through my surgery as well. read more

I recently went to see Dr meka in Monroe as she was appointed my primary care physician by my health insurance. I went to her because I thought that my hernia has returned. I had surgery on it 5 years ago. During my exam Dr meka was short and seemed to be bothered by me. After stating that I didn't have a hernia and it must have been something I ate causing my pain. The nurse returned and had a smerk on her face and after I mentioned how unfriendly she was the nurse said that doctor has been a little off today and to please give her another chance. Dr. Meka was completely unconcerned with my problem ans wasn't concerned at all with my health. I am planning on switching primary doctors asap. My health isn't a joke but the so called doctor was. I believe she has violated my patient rights and I will pursue. read more

This is my first visit and I admit I was apprehensive given what I see in the reviews here. I was there to have a third opinion on a skin rash that has been plaguing me for years. Frankly, I didn't have much hope that this visit would be any different from other doctors. But I was desperate and in pain. Surprisingly, the doctor had some very good advice and gave me hope that I can clear this up. So kudos. 5 stars to the doctor and nurses. Polite, professional and efficient. 3 stars to the registration process. The woman at the counter was very soft spoken. I had a hard time hearing her and I told her so. But she made no attempt to speak up which strikes me as odd. The registration process was fast because I'd downloaded and filled out the registration forms prior to the visit. 4 stars to the general atmosphere. The place is quiet and have a pretty nice ambience. Much better than the other two doctors I saw. But no matter how nice it is, do anyone wants to hang out there any longer than we need to? If you want to get IN and OUT... try ORMC's Urgent Care or Orange Urgent Care down the road.. both of those urgent cares are quick with courteous staff working. Crystal Run is definitely not the place to be, however, they are one of the biggest/ most popular medical facilities around here which is why people get stuck here and dont look any further. I came here and saw Dr.Choy for my knee/ankle and this lady came in and half fast everything, her expression on her face was like yea yea it's plantar fasciitis, then said go see dr out in Monroe/Harriman, and walked away. Im thinking ok she's gonna come back with the shots, nope this lady left, after several me tired of waiting in the patient chair, I got up opened the door a slight crack, cuz I had temporary shorts on as they wanted me to remove me pants, and asked, umm is the doctor coming back with my shots that's why I came here because of knee pain. They said oh no you're done!!! I said no, I want my shots I have a lot of pain in my knees. Then this doctor came back with no words, she came back and and I told her my knees hurt but this knee hurts more what are my options can I get a shot and in the mean time get an MRI on both knees? So plz tell me why she ordered one knee mri, then I had to call her & have her order two knees, and doesn't put clinical notes about both knees just the one knee she gave a shot too? So why today am I told a few days before this MRI my insurance denied claim? Called spoke with a supervisor, I complained and I'm going to report her, she was annoyed as I had seen a different doctor, then all her nurses kept asking why did you want to see her and not the same doctor as before? This place is bogus. I have a serious illness, from cancer for which I have been treated here for quite some time. I am treated with opiate medication. I am seen here frequently, and they call my medication in monthly. I am frequently forgotten about, and the doctor and nurse do not call my medication in when they say they are going to. That leaves me in a very tough position as I am near going into withdrawal on a monthly basis. It's not fair. I like my doctor but this is not fair to me. First let me say the doctors are rated more than 5 stars. Everyone I have had there is absolutely wonderful and caring. Their support staff n nurses on the other hand deserve less than 1 star. They never send prescriptions in when the doctor orders them, if you need a refill forget it. Im on 2 weeks now waiting for Cpap supplies called in and last month I waited over a,week for my insulin pump supplies to be sent in. I have called, emailed left messages and nothing.
