The incompetent service department here completely misdiagnosed my sons Prius when his check engine light came on while traveling through Silver City. I've been an Automobile technician for 40 years but was 1000 miles away. My son had already had the fault codes read for free at an Auto Zone and we knew it needed an inverter coolant pump. These crooks wanted to replace the engines water pump plus the inverter and the hybrid battery for several thousand dollars, so we towed the car 100 miles to Viva Toyota in Las Cruces where they knew what they were doing and treated us honestly and professionally and he was back on the road by noon with only a new inverter pump and a bill less than $500.00. Lawley Silver City installed a transmission (2005 Jeep, 124K miles). After picking up the Jeep (2 weeks later then promised). I drove to California where the Jeep barely made the drive. San Diego Lawley informed, "Only 4 of the 8 bolts holding the transmission to the engine where present, once they got into the transmission they said it was a mess with a myriad of transmission issues, all to do with Service." I returned to Lawley Silver City and shared my experience with head mechanic Marty. Marty in return shared some pearls of wisdom, "It was my own fault for putting a transmission in a used Jeep, and he would never purchase a Jeep." I worked over 30 years in the entertainment industry, so I'm used to arrogant people, but they usually have a skill set to back up their mouth. Marty couldn't even properly install a transmission and blames the Jeep brand. If ya'll don't want to install transmissions into a used Jeep, please inform customers prior to them spending $6,000.00, and we can go else where. read more

Nice people, polite service, friendly tips about the area, clean waiting area. Well it seems that the service department here treats you as if you were an old friend from the start. As a traveler, the took care of everything I needed and a little bit more with the safety check that located another filter that was promptly replaced. I would go back for service anytime. read more

This place has really gotten bad. I will never bring my car back to them, ever again. They lie about so much, as though they think I know nothing about my own vehicle, and do things to it that they didn't need to do (i.e.: "top off" my already full wiper fluid, which means emptying what I JUST put in and adding their own crappy stuff). They also recommended tires to me, that weren't even the right type for my vehicle. They also don't listen very well, and forget to do stuff I asked for. I miss the old employees. The ones they have now seem nice, but they're a bunch of liars. read more

This past Tuesday, a little after 4 p.m., our car started giving us problems. To make matters worse, we were scheduled to leave at 6 a.m. the next morning to go to the El Paso airport. My wife immediately went to the Lawley Toyota Service Department. The service manager and the service technician busted their tails at the end of the day to try to get us back on the road. They stayed past their closing time, but it ended up being a tough electronic issue. The service manager volunteered to run my wife to Enterprise to rent a car at the last minute... he even offered to put the rental charges on our repair bill so that all of our expenses would be on one bill. These folks impressed the heck out of us. Yep, we are now loyal Lawley Toyota Service Department customers. read more

I respectfully submit this review with the hope that Lawley Toyota will see this as an opportunity to improve their practices. On March 22, 2019, I had Lawley Toyota perform routine maintenance on my Toyota Avalon. I live in Albuquerque and have many choices for such work but chose to have the Lawley dealership do the work as I am from Silver City. Unfortunately, that was a HUGE mistake. The work was done very poorly and created a dangerous and scary situation. The work to be done was replace the front and rear brakes and rotors, brake fluid flushed, transmission fluid exchanged, and replace the drive belt I requested genuine Toyota parts. The parts were to be ordered prior to the work being done. I was told to have my vehicle at the dealership at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22. At approximately 3:00 p.m. on that day I received a call from the man in the Service Department and he informed me that only half the genuine Toyota parts had been ordered for the brakes and rotors. Since I live in Albuquerque and had to be back for work Monday, March 25 that left me with having 1/2 Toyota parts and 1/2 after market parts put on my car. I was told I could pick up my car at 5:15 on March 22. I arrived shortly before then and my car was still being worked on. I waited until almost 6:00 p.m. for my car. I spent just under $1000 for the routine maintenance. I drove my car several miles that day and did not drive it again until Sunday, March 24 when I headed back to Albuquerque. As I traveled through the Black Range Mountains, which is a mountainous road with steep cliffs, sharp curves, no shoulder or guard rail in most areas, and a limited number of areas to pull off the road safely, my car jerked sharply to the right. On the right of the road where I was was a cliff hundreds of feet down. My car then Iost power steering and the temperature gauge shot straight up. By the grace of God I was able to hold the car on the road and pull slightly off the road. My car became inoperable. This was a very dangerous and scary situation. Typically, there is no phone signal through this mountain pass but by the grace of God I was able to call for help. I spent 4 1/2 hours stranded at the top of the mountain pass by myself. I had my car towed back to Lawley Toyota. Monday morning, March 25 I went back to the dealership and explained what happened. The man in the Service Department said they would take care of it. They finished my car around noon on Monday. When I went to pick up my car the man in the Service Department apologized and handed me my keys. I truly appreciate that he took responsibility for the poor work done on my car and the apology; however, I had just spent almost $1000, paid for a tow, missed a day of work and lost that pay, and had a very dangerous and scary experience. I asked if they could do anything about deferring some of my costs and he took me to the Service Manager. The Service Manager asked for the cost of the tow bill and the amount of the lost wages and he agreed to mail me a check. I understand mistakes happen but this is why work should be double checked. The situation I was placed in by Lawley Toyota could have cost me my life. I trusted them with the care of my vehicle and as a result was placed in a dangerous and scary situation. I have owned four Toyotas over the last 25+ years two of which were bought at that dealership (when it was under different ownership) and have never had an experience like this one. I choose to own Toyotas because of their excellent quality as well as the care that can be expected from a Toyota dealership. I put my trust in Lawley Toyota during this experience and multiple times they failed including the inaccurate ordering of genuine Toyota parts, the carelessness in the routine maintenance that caused an incredibly unsafe and dangerous situation for me, the lack of offering to cover my cost of towing and lost wages until I asked, the Customer Relations Manger failing to contact me, the lack of internal communication within the dealership, and the lack of professionalism on the part of the woman from Toyota Corporation transferring my call to the General Manager blindly. There were things that I believe those involved got right included owning up to the mistake, apologizing, and the General Manager listening to me and working to make it right as well as the gentleman with Toyota Corporation providing excellent customer service. read more

My experience here was less than positive. We were traveling through the area when we were alerted that we needed to check one of the tires. We checked the pressure and discovered that we needed to add nitrogen in the car's tires. (No doubt buying tires filled with nitrogen was a mistake.) Since Lawley Toyota seems to be the only place in town that deals with nitrogen, I went there to have nitrogen added and to have the tire pressure monitoring system ("TPMS") reset. The technician reluctantly (the first clue that I should have left) agreed to reset the tire pressure monitoring system. He then proceeded to add too much nitrogen to the tires and was too slow and unable to reset the TPMS. read more

Friendly service, they gave me a ride to work and the mechanic called me mid morning to give me an update. Wow that's pretty cool. Everything is good to go. Two hours later the service manager calls me and says I need $800 worth of work. He emails me an estimate. I probably do need the work but the mixed messages do not instill confidence in me. I picked up the car after work--they had it all day and I was surprised to see there was no courtesy wash or vacuum. My friends say this is a small town and there is no competition so they don't have to offer the same kind of service I'm used to in the city. hummmm I'll give them 3 stars and see if they try harder next time. read more

I had an extended engine warranty repair done at Lawley's on my 2011 dodge grand caravan which included the replacement of the left bank cylinder head on 3-9-17. Less than 3 months later the van broke down in Dallas Texas stranding my two daughters. They got a motel room and I drove to Dallas where I rented a car dolly and towed the van home and rescued my girls. I took the van to an auto mechanic shop called RPM auto clinic so they could diagnose the problem. They discovered the exhaust camshaft on the left bank cylinder head was broken in half. Obviously the fault was with the work which was performed at Lawley's so I informed the service manager at Lawley's about the problem. He sent a tow truck over to RPM to pick up the van when I contacted them to see what was up He said they were going to repair the van at no charge to me. So far so good. I asked Lawley's to also at least pay the bill for the diagnostic work done by RPM auto clinic which was $101.87 they refused and said they didn't like the guys over at RPM auto clinic and that they didn't trust them. WOW that was a stupid thing to say. The fact that Lawley's repaired the van under warranty is admission of fault. So why bad mouth my mechanic and refuse to pay a reasonable diagnostic bill ? I honestly think they owe me for my daughter's motel bill my time and fuel bill and the cost of renting a car dolly in addition to the diagnostic bill. I wouldn't post a negative review at all if the folks at Lawley's would have been reasonable. So far I have not found them to be honest or reasonable. Anyone can make a mistake I understand that but when a mistake takes place it seems pretty clear that the best policy would be to own it and strive to mitigate ill will. I took my Dodge Ram in because the check engine light came on and it was losing power going uphill I was told that there were some bolts broken and needed replacing. After a few days, I picked it up and made it about 4 miles then the EXACT same thing happened. I took it back in and then was told I needed a new fuel pump. After about a week(and almost $900.00) I went to pick it up and made it about 6 miles AND THE EXACT SAME THING happened. Back to Lawleys and was told it was some Sensors they forgot to replace. After another few days, I went and picked it up and did not even make it out of the parking lot AND THE EXACT SAME THING!!!! I now had had it up to the top of my head and was ready to explode when I spoke to the top person in charge and he promised they would get to the bottom of it. Turns out (so they said) it was my transmission and I NEVER needed the other work done (over 1000.00) I had them do the work as long as they refunded me for the unnecessary work and parts (and they did) My truck runs fine now and they asked to please let them earn our trust back, and they almost had it until last week when I had Lawley Ford work on my car and they did the EXACT SAME THING!!! I have left a review for Lawley Ford and will be contacting Ford and Toyota to file a complaint as well as the Better Business Bureau. I will be posting on Facebook and making sure to tell both stories to EVERYONE who will listen. I will NEVER buy a car from either dealership and I will try to steer everyone away from them! read more

Had a awful experience. Went for a simple oil change and did not leave with my car. Service department broke my ignition switch and then they turned around and said that those things happen ya they happen when someone is trying to break into the car to start it. They also wanted me to pay for the part they broke. I recommend if your going to take ur vehicle to get serviced I would go to lawley Ford. read more
