I got a couple of estimates before Minh's, and one of them said they would not remove the rocks and weeds, and that they would just put soil over it. They charged almost triple as well. Another company said they could not remove the rocks and weeds. I was getting so desperate that I even put a sign out saying "free rocks, you haul" but nobody took them. Minh's Landscaping made my curb look BEAUTIFUL, so nice in fact that I have decided to start small remodels on the rest of the house, and we are going to stay there, because before I even wanted to move. I will be calling them to help me with several other projects when Spring comes around!

He makes himself available whether it is by phone, text or in person always. I appreciate his willingness to talk to us, to make sure we are all on the same page. Something that I have found working with other landscapers is that they don't listen. That simple. There's a lot of nodding and "sure, sure" but they are only half-heartedly hearing us. I have been continually surprised by his ability to repeat our wishes back to us --weeks later-- which builds trust. Another thing we were happy to hear is that he'll do what we want, even if it doesn't make the most sense to him. He recognizes that Momma and I collectively have 70 years of gardening experience between us, and may be coming at a project a little differently than standard landscapers. How refreshing! We have used services on the whole price spectrum, basic budget to high end and everything in between. I would place Travis in the middle range. We have used him for a month or two now and we couldn't be happier. Mowing, edging, blowing, weeding, spreading bark, trimming bushes... so far the guy's a beast! He just does not quit. Touchstone is definitely in the top three out of the dozen or so landscaping companies we contacted as far as understanding how to interact with customers. We like to handle most of our own projects. Usually after the first year the other companies started getting lazy with the work they were doing in our yard. It is the exact opposite it Touchstone. The crew that works on our house is amazing and they really do pay attention to detail on what they are doing. They do a great job and work their butts off rain or shine. The crew that works on our house have very good customer service as well. Aaron is also very prompt at getting back to my e-mails which is a major plus to have good communication. Overall this company is dependable and they do quality work with a price that won't break the bank.

They were supposed to trim a laurel hedge, but decided to only trim it as far up as they could reach without bothering to do the upper couple of feet. It is a horrible mess. They were supposed to re-gravel the driveway, but, brought such a fine-grade gravel that it was more dust than stones. I spoke about that and Sam Hill, the owner, said "It'll be fine once it rains." NO it's not. Most of the "gravel" blew away. It's a lumpy mess. I had also specified that I wanted the gravel to go all the way out to the edges of the current drive. I even said "I want it wide." Wasn't done. I complained and Sam said, "It looks like a nice, strip up the middle." He said if I wanted it out to the edges, he could write up another bid!!!! I had gone out the day before and weeded and made the edges of the drive very clear. These lazy people didn't even bother to move a trash can that was at the side: they just left it un-graveled. They didn't spread gravel over the entire area that is the turn-around either. You can see where they just put their gravel around in patches when they thought they could get away with leaving the old gravel. They cut a 50-year old lilac down to the ground for no reason at all. Apparently, Sam's parents own a nursery, so he "made it right" by putting 2 inch tall cuttings in its place. I objected because lilacs are very slow growing. Sam said "Oh, no...they grow really fast." NOT TRUE. I then went to a nursery and picked out a 4 foot tall lilac that would still not make up for the towering one that had been destroyed, but would be better than cuttings. Sam said he'd go get it. Well, he must have gone back to mom and dad again. They planted a one foot tall weakling that is now dead. I wanted them to plant something to mask my neighbors fence from view. I said something flowering, like a dogwood or cherry. I expected someone who calls himself a landscaper to know plants; to know what would grow in the space indicated. I babied that tree for months, but...it's now dead, too. So, thousands of dollars went for damage and ignorance and laziness and refusal to repair what they ruined. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

You can tell when he talks about landscaping he is very experienced and knows his products he uses. I really wish I took a before picture but it wasn't something I would be proud of because of how messy the front and backyard were before they started.
