In 2022 DVO Landscaping trimmed my Bamboo and trimmed off branches on my Arborvitae trees to facilitate a new Cedar fence by Estate Fence. They worked so hard and made my backyard look so good. This time I called the Boss-Danny for 3 long trenches 18" deep for Rock Electric LLC Electricians to run PVC with electrical circuits for more backyard lighting. Danny, Rico & Ricardo spent almost 2 days hand shoveling and sometimes jack hammer to dig the deep trenches per Washington code. They preserved my weed barrier. Once the L&I Inspector Jeff inspected the trenches for compliance-Passed. Again Danny had his guys Rico & Ricardo backfill the weed barrier and dirt. My walking path and everything looks Great. Danny gave me a Free estimate for removing Arborvitae branches, Bamboo, numerous Pavers and digging 8-10" deep trenches under some of the paving stones. Electricians will run 1.5" PVC with electrical lines for light to a Front Arbor and back deck for PVC line to install an Electrical Vehicle charger in the garage. I tried a few other Landscapers to give me estimate for trenching with no success. Danny came with 3 guys and they worked so hard 5-6 hours. Outstanding work at a reasonable cost. I would avoid using DVO for any landscaping projects. Danny was nice and seemed to know what he was doing but once the project was completed, we realized what a poor job had been done. The project was for the following: -Bring in all new sod for the backyard because our lawn had died during a construction project. We told him that we were concerned with drainage and the shadiness of our yard and wanted to make sure we took these into consideration. He told me he was planning to use JB Lawn Sod and I specifically asked in a text whether it would be okay in the shady areas. After install, the grass didn't take and the sod could be peeled up in the shady areas and so we had to spend another $1200 replacing it (with another company). He also did not bring in any new soil to put in underneath the sod or test our soil until we asked him to do so. When we called JB Lawn, they let us know that bringing in new soil before laying down new sod is industry standard. The company also let me know that none of their sod products are okay for shade and they only have a seed that can be put in. Danny's response to this was that he did what the contract said. We relied on his for expert advice as we know little about landscaping but this is not what we ended up getting. - Danny's guys also planted our new plants (which cost over $1000) for us and some of them started to die and so when I went to check on how they were planted, I realized that they were not planted properly as the holes were dug to the exact size of the containers, not allowing the plants any room for the roots to start to develop and the landscaping fabric was cut right around the stems. He said this was a courtesy and not his responsibility because it wasn't in our contract. - Danny charged us thousands of dollars to lay down landscaping fabric and a light layer of mulch in several of our garden beds, we could see the landscaping fabric all over the place and had to bring in additional mulch. - He later gave us a quote for pavers and was up charging us by 50% in comparison to the company we ended up hiring. It is clear that Danny is creative with his bids to make it seem like you are getting a deal but cuts a lot of corners to make up for it. He offered to give us $500 for the issue with the grass since we had to redo it and we still have yet to see any of that. We are also having much of our lawn continue to have issues because we relied on Danny to be the expert and he left us with no instruction about watering, fertilizing, anything. I would absolutely not hire him again not recommend his services. I personally regret hiring Danny and feel like we flushed thousands of dollars down the drain. read more

I had to move on from DVO for regular full service maintenance and go with another company because of decrease in service quality. Even with multiple requests and pictures sent to Danny with requests to address issues like steppingstones half buried under the lawn, edging not done around the fences and other hardscape, weeds in the planting beds, and fall cleanup not being done as usual, issues weren't fully resolved. Maybe he's focusing on installs and not maintenance, not sure. read more

We sought Danny's assistance in doing up our entire backyard. His quote was the most reasonable. He completely removed whatever there was on our yard and redid the whole thing from scratch. This involved removing concrete, weeds, grass; adding pavers, paver steps, rocks, sprinklers, new grass, raised garden beds, side door and pergola. Danny and his workers were very good. We faced no problems. They did a great job. We would recommend them and reach out to them if we ever need landscaping assistance. read more

Extremely dissatisfied! While in the process of buying a house, I noticed some pretty significant puddling issues around the house. I prompted my agent to resolve this with the seller. My agent hired DVO Landscaping. Danny (the owner/foreman) charged the seller, and my agent $5000 to install a French drain. After it was first installed, it looked very functional. However after the first big rain, I have the same puddles. After Danny returned once more to spread grass seed, (which so far has done nothing) he has begun ignoring my text messages. I could've done this job over a weekend with $500 Max and it would've worked fine. He charged 10 times the amount. read more

Nice employees, flexible schedule, but after thatching, aeration and over seed, I had nothing but weeds where I didn't have a single weed before. Still trying to get my lawn back to grass not weeds. Not sure what is being used for grass seeds, certainly didn't produce grass. They also didn't cover a portion of my garden with mulch because they misunderstood and when told, they didn't try to come back to complete the job. I wouldn't recommend. read more

Very disappointed that Danny and his company never followed through. I use Yelp pretty much all the time to find services and since we needed our driveway paved, I yelped it and found Danny a couple other companies. Danny was quick to respond and he even came out the same day which was great but that's where it ended. He took measurements etc and told me he would email us in a couple days, that was 2 and a half weeks ago! I even went back to my yelp messaging and replied to the thread that we corresponded on and sent him a quick message saying I was just following up a week after he came by our house and still nothing. Our fence burned down and we needed it replaced. I also requested some landscaping work be done. Danny came out and provided me a quote of $3,500. They came out and did an exceptional job on the fence and some of the landscaping; however, he did not complete the entire landscaping job we had discussed. Once the fence was up, his guys never came back out, so I reached out to him and asked if they were going to finish the landscaping. He told me that he went over his budget and had to stop the job. I hired DVO to install a sprinkler system. Dan and his sales rep were long on promises but as it turned out short on delivery. We agreed on a price and a start date, he took my deposit and said he would be on site on the date we agreed upon. No show, no contact it went on for too long, so I went to the local police to report him for stealing from me. Well, he finally got back to me and after our conversation and his promise to start and complete the install, I said yes. They came spent three or four days and completed the job, well almost. There were sprinkler heads that didn't work, aimed the wrong way and the overall quality was lousy. I told him about it and his response "I'll take care of it". Five months later I still haven't heard from him. Avoid this outfit like the plague, please you will be so much better off. As a craftsman with thirty years' experience working for MA Bell, I learned a few very important things. 1. Stick to what you know. 2. Show up when you say you will. 3. I reached out to DVO Landscaping in August for a quote on installing an irrigation system in my front and back yard. Among the 4 landscaping companies that I had come out to give me a quote, DVO Landscaping was by far the quickest (Danny came by the next day - weeks before the next company did) and the most affordable. Using all of the same parts for PVC and automated Wi-Fi timers that the other companies included in their quotes, Danny was able to offer me a price several hundred dollars below all other companies, and he was able to complete the install much sooner than the others. DVO Landscaping was able to work with my schedule for the install. As soon as I had weighed my options and chosen DVO Landscaping for my project, Danny offered to get started in two days. Given other things that I had going on, I asked if I could push out the start date two weeks and he was more than accommodating for me. When it came time to get started, Danny's team was here from start to finish working 9 hour days and the whole job was done in just 2 and a half days! The final product is working just as I had hoped, and the new grass seed they laid down is growing nicely already. I could not be happier with the work from Danny and his team, and I would recommend DVO Landscaping to anyone in the Puget Sound area. We had this company come give us a bid at our aunt's house which was in really bad shape. The trees overhanging the driveway and grass about a foot long. I signed a contract with Danny on 3/2/2022 to have three areas of my back yard renovated. He was contracted to remove a walkway and installed flagstone and polymer in between the stones, remove an existing lumpy lawn with different kinds of grass with new topsoil and grass seed, and adjust an existing sprinkling system to facilitate watering all the lawn and flowerbeds. He got one of them right, the flagstone walkway, the other two projects were no better than what he started with. The "new" lawn is still lumpy, with a variety of grasses, just like before. It does not look much different. The sprinkling system was the greatest disappointment. I have had to move a hose and sprinkler twice each time I water to reach all the areas in my back yard, because the existing sprinkling system didn't cover it all, and there were areas where shrubs were stopping the flow to the other areas. Danny assured me that he could remedy that situation. He did change some valves and put a timer in, and did change 2 of the ground level heads to a higher level to be able to get all the area in their range wet. This was done in March, before some of the plants were emerging from the ground. When the sprinkling system really needed to function properly, the plants in some areas were stopping the flow. I called Danny in June to let him know that 3 of the heads needed to be lifted up in order to properly water the area. He came over and assisted me with the timer that needed to be modified, and told me that they were very busy, but he would get back to modify the heads to facilitate watering the areas. I didn't hear from him, after a week, so I texted him with the request to come and modify the heads, so the areas would get watered, he texted me back and said he was out of the country, but he would send one of his guys. He even gave me a day and a time frame, and no one showed up. I texted him back and said that no one showed up, and that the one sprinkler head on a tall post was wobbling around so much when that unit was turned on that it was going beyond my 6 ft. fence and watering the neighbor's yard. It needed to be stabilized so it didn't wobble so badly. I told him I knew there would be more cost to modify some of the system, so I wasn't looking for a freeby, just fix it. I never heard from him again, and I have a lumpy lawn with many different kinds of grass, and no working sprinkling system. He got one out of three right, and he doesn't keep his word. I have to find another landscaper that can fix the sprinkling system and see what can be done about the lawn. I would never recommend him! read more
