I said yes for 1pm. He said, "well its 12pm." i said "YES AN HOUR AWAY." Then he gives me an estimate for sod which is ridiculous. 1300 for two small STRIPS of grass pretty much in the front only. Unprofessional. Avoid. I called to get an estimate for setting up my parents with landscaping to maintain their yard with basic services (cutting the grass, pulling weeds, fertilizer, etc), while discussing with Tony further we were getting all the details sorted. While discussing him coming out to my parents home for a evaluation of the property to give me an accurate quote he asked if I would be physically there. I said no. I asked him why it wasn't possible for him to survey the property (and that I'd let my parents know he would be on their property to get me a quote) and after communicate with my directly about his quote because I would be the one paying for this ongoing service for my parents. Immediately out of no where he said, I can't provide this service for you. I asked why, because we had already discussed what I was looking for and discussed a lot of details and he just replied I can't provide this service and then hung up. I've very confused and upset, I would not recommend working with this company. I didn't believe my request was that absurd and wanted an explanation/discussion but he just continued to say he can't provide this service then hung up. At first I hesitated to write a review, since I didn't actually end up using this service, but I keep thinking about my interaction with this company and I feel like people should know about the experience before using their service. I reached out to Tony's Landscaping to cut our grass after purchasing a new home in Puyallup. My husband and I are military and relocating to the area so we needed someone to look after the grass during our transition, especially because the seller did not care for it during the sell. We reached out via yelp, and requested an initial yard service and maintenance on the property on a biweekly basis. They were prompt in returning our call. The customer service was truly not the best, and I can truly say that now after speaking to so many different lawn care services. First, the called us at nearly 4:30 am, I don't blame him because we are in a different time zone, and it's an honest mistake many people make, but if they had asked any normal "first interaction questions" when they reached out they would have realized that they completely startled us out of our sleep. They also didn't seem interested in cutting the grass or even giving an estimate on the yard work without us signing a 6 month contract. The guy was very much pushing a 6 month contract before we were even able to talk about what needed to be addressed at the property. He basically said he did not want to come and cut the yard without the contract because he didn't want to "do all the work then have us just leave the service". I didn't understand this especially since my initial request was for extended care, and we would obviously pay him for the yard, whether or not he cut it once or 80 times. It seemed very unprofessional and it was a very forced conversation. All of my other interactions with lawn care professionals have not at all been like this, even the ones who declined to help us until a later date. Tony and team did a fantastic job! The original landscaping was done in 2003 and had very little maintenance performed over the years. It was a mess of weeds and dead/overgrown bushes. I called Tony on a Friday, he came out on Saturday for an estimate, the job was started on Monday and finished early Tuesday afternoon. Each day the team arrived on time and cleaned up at the end. And the results are amazing! I thought the price was reasonable for all the work involved, including the labor and materials. Tony's landscaping does the neighbors landscaping next door every month and every time they come out they take shortcuts by blowing all debris and fallen leaves onto the neighbors yard instead of raking it up and disposing of yard debris as they are hired to do. Further, total credibility was lost when he sought a significant deposit on what amounted to searching for a leak and replacing a bit of PVC pipe. We are always free to get other quotes and go with a cheaper contractor for sub par work OR we pay for what we get - QUALITY WORK.... yes? He he will do exactly what he promises, and not only that he will go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with this work. He came out and took down 7 very large trees in difficult areas to cut. They got them down, cut them into nice size logs, then stacked them nicely so we can burn later in the fire pit. He's got tons of personality, and is so trustworthy. He means what he says and honoring his word is very important to him. He wants to make sure you are happy with his work. Reached out to several landscaping companies to do a trim on a couple apple trees and to haul some junk away. He came out and seemed pleasant enough but the quote he gave blew me away. I was quoted initially at $1,700...which I know for a fact is super high. I had some other yard work done where I had two trees completely removed, one tree trimmed and some hedges trimmed for $1,100. He was not doing anything close to that amount of work. When I told him that was way too high he then changed the price to $1,075 and acted like it was a huge favor. I told him to write the quote down so I could compare it to the two other companies I was going to quote me the next day. Both of the other two companies quoted me $500...less than half of his "favor" price and well under 1/3 of his original. This is why it is SOOOO important to get multiple quotes.
